MAGNI
HEADPHONE AMP AND PREAMP
IN NORSE MYTHOLOGY, MAGNI WAS ONE OF THOR’S SONS. THIS IS OUR MAGNI. NO
RELATION. YES, WE KNOW, YOU’RE DISAPPOINTED. CONSOLE YOURSELF BY KNOWING YOU
HAVE THE BEST AMPLIFIER ANYWHERE NEAR ITS PRICE.
CONNECTIONS
- Connect your source to the Magni’s “IN” RCA jacks with high-quality RCA cables.
- Connect the supplied wall-wart cable to the jack labeled “AC IN.” Do not use any other wall-wart, or Magni will not work.*
- Optional: Connect the preamp outputs to powered monitors or an external power amp.
- Turn on the switch. The protection relay will mute the output for about 10 seconds, then it will engage with a click.
- Select gain. Magni has two gain settings, +15dB (high) and 0dB (low). Low gain gives more volume range for sensitive headphones
*Magni’s wall-wart is AC output. Most AC adapters are DC output, and will not work with Magni. Magni works with a 14-16VAC, 1-2A output adapter only.
OPERATION
- Connect your headphones to the headphone jack. For smaller headphone plugs, you may need a 1/8″ to 1/4″ adapter (not supplied.)
- Turn the knob to control the volume to both headphone and preamp outputs.
Remember, when you plug headphones into the Magni, it mutes the preamp output.
And that’s it! Enjoy your music!
OVERCURRENT PROTECTION
If your Magni clicks and mutes, then unmute again, it is protecting itself.
This is usually caused by a TRRS headphone plug, shorted headphone cable, or
other system problems.
Check your system, try different headphones and adapters, and learn more about
TRRS problems at schiit.com/trrs
In extreme cases, at a very high volume, you may be running into overload, especially if you are using equalization. This is ridiculously loud and dangerous to your hearing,
