MI-HEAT MST1 Room Thermostat for Underfloor Heating
Range of application
The MST1 thermostat can be used to control floor heating systems such as
electric heating mats or heating films, as well as for NC control valves
(normally closed) for water-guided floor heating systems. But other electrical
heating devices such as infrared radiant heaters or convectors can also be
operated via the thermostat.
IMPORTANT!: The unit only has the external temperature sensor. This must
therefore be connected for operation.
Important notes
- We recommend leaving the installation of the temperature controller and the heating system to specialists.
- Only qualified electricians should carry out the electrical connections and the mains connection of the appliance.
- Disconnect the cables from the power supply before installing, checking or replacing a thermostat.
- The wiring diagram and installation instructions for the appliance can be found in this manual.
- The manufacturer’s warranty does not cover malfunctions of the appliance that occur as a result of mechanical damage, incorrect installation, improper handling and use for purposes or conditions not specified in these installation and use instructions.
Safety instructions
Disconnect the cables from the power supply before installing, checking or replacing a thermostat. Work on electrical connections and the mains connection of the appliance may only be carried out by qualified electricians. Failure to do so will invalidate the warranty. Only plastic flush-mounted boxes may be used for thermostat installation. During installation of the corrugated pipe and again before laying the screed, make sure that the sensor can be laid in the corrugated pipe and removed again.

Assembly
Thermostat placement: Place the thermostat on the wall up to a height of 80 to 150cm. In locations with increased humidity, install the thermostat as far as possible from the sources of humidity according to the applicable standards. Do not place the thermostat on a wall exposed to sunlight or on the outside wall of the building. Install the floor temperature sensor at least 50cm into the heating surface and always in the installation pipe (so-called corrugated pipe), which is covered at the end to prevent building material from entering the pipe.
installation
Sensor installation
We recommend installing the floor sensor in a corrugated tube (Ø 16mm – Fig.
- so that it can be easily replaced in the event of a fault.
For information on how to install the floor sensor on your heater, please refer to the installation and operating instructions of your heating mat.
Thermostat installation
Turn the control knob (fig. 2) to minimum temperature (OFF) and lever it off with a screwdriver (fig. 3). This is done in the direction away from the thermostat cover. Loosen the left screw and remove the thermostat cover and the inner frame (fig. 4).
Temperature setting
The thermostat can be set in the temperature range +5 ~ 45°C. When used with underfloor heating, the temperature must be limited and must not exceed the temperature specified by the manufacturer of the floor covering (usually max. 27°C). The locking mechanism is located under the control knob. With its setting, unintentional temperature changes can be avoided (e.g.: by children, hotel guests, etc.). By loosening the small screw on the right and adjusting the limiting discs, the temperature scale can be locked (e.g. between 20°C and 25°C). The red limiting disc indicates the maximum temperature, the green limiting disc the minimum temperature. If the floor temperature is lower than the temperature set on the thermostat, the LED display indicates the switching of the thermostat relays. As soon as the temperature is reached, the relays switch off and the LED display goes out.
Disposal note
- Do not dispose of this appliance in household waste! Electronic devices must be disposed of in accordance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive via the local collection points for waste electronic equipment.
