Note Please inform the customer about the process involved in installing a new sensor, this will help in getting the right location to perform servicing of the unit.

Installation

  1. Turn the unit off and disconnect the power cord.

  2. Put on the static wrist strap and connect it to the ground. Do not use the incubator as it is not grounded when disconnected.

  3. Remove the four screws from the left side cover. Set the cover aside.

  4. Disconnect the 2-position temp sensor wiring connector.

  5. Disconnect the black and white wires of the conditioner heater from the harness.
Note Some tie-wraps may need to be removed in this process.

  6. Disconnect the black white and ground leads from the blower motor terminals, note the orientation before removal.

  7. Disconnect the ribbon cable from the micro board. Remove the ribbon cable from the clips on the plenum cover, if applicable.

  8. Loosen and remove the plastic tubing nut (turn the nut to the right) from the steel tube of the RH conditioning assembly.

  9. Unlatch the four ‘suitcase’ latches of the plenum cover and remove the cover. Retain all insulation (gloves and mask are required).

  10. Remove (16) nuts (all are not visible in the picture below), using an 11/32″ socket or wrench, from the blower / RH conditioner plate assembly and remove the assembly as shown in Fig. 2.

  11. Remove (20) nuts using an 11/32″ socket or wrench, from the lower plate and remove the plate as shown in Fig. 3.

  12. Disconnect 3 sensors, IR CO2, RH & Temperature sensor. Replace the dummy sensor plug with the new sensor plug (3310032) in the kit as shown in Fig. 4.

  13. Disconnect the wire coming from the plenum heater (marked below) through the snap bushing as shown in Fig. 5.

  14. Disconnect the front side and back side tubing from the side duct as shown in Fig. 6.

  15. Remove 20, 11/32 Hex nuts fixed to the Side duct assembly (top and bottom) as highlighted below in Fig. 7. Slowly pull the side duct assembly out of the unit such that the lower part comes out first. Reserve all the Hex nuts for future use.
Note Lubricate the studs, so that they do not break. Start removing nuts from outside working in, center nuts to be last to be removed. A hand tool is preferred.

  16. Discard the gaskets attached to top and bottom as marked below in Fig. 8 and reinstall the top and bottom plenum gasket (103123).

  17. Remove top and bottom insulation from the side duct assembly. Secure the insulation material to be used in next steps as shown in Fig. 9.

  18. Attach top and bottom insulation to the new side duct assembly (3307353) from the kit with aluminum tape as shown in Fig. 10 below.

  19. Install duct assembly to unit, top edge first (as shown in Fig. 11) and try to align the holes with the studs.

  20. Secure with 20, 11/32 SS Hex nuts (which are removed in step 15), 10 in the bottom part (as marked in the image below in Fig. 12) and 10 in the top part. Each nut should be tightened a little, then the next, and so on until tight, so that the studs do not break off. Tighten all the nuts evenly until gasket has a good seal.

  21. Reconnect the wires from plenum heaters to the connectors (marked below), taking it through the snap bushing as shown in Fig. 13.

  22. Place tubing through hole in plenum back side and front side as shown in Fig. 14.

  23. Locate a small PCBA (IR Circuit board) associated with CO2 Sensor, disconnect all electrical connection and discard the PCBA as shown in Fig. 15.

  24. The main harness (350204) running from main PCBA to all 3 sensorsneeds to be replaced with new one, to do this PCBA needs to be unscrewed from stand-offs. The harness is running behind the frame asshown in Fig. 16. Disconnect the connection highlighted. See dottedline with blue arrows below:

  25. Now using the Dremel tool, gently sand away the sheet metal opening to accommodate the new sensor and dummy plug of a larger diameter. This should be done while using a vacuum to capture any paint or metal dust. Verify that both new CO2 sensor and new dummy plug will fit through the opening and seated properly.

  26. Using a touch-up pen “Thermo White w/ 5% Black Paint Pen”P/N 173023, apply in the areas where paint is removed during sanding as shown in Fig. 17.

  27. Reinstall the old RH & Temperature sensor removed from the unit as shown in Fig. 18.

  28. Connect the electrical connection of sensor as per pictures shown in figures below. – CO2 Sensor, Black wire with green plug coming from main harness, connect to CO2 Sensor backside.
    RH Sensor
    Temperature sensor

  29. Reinstall the blower / RH conditioner plate assembly. Position on top of plenum and secure with 16 nuts removed in step 10 as shown in Fig. 22.

  30. Position the bottom plate onto the bottom of the plenum and secure it with nuts which are removed in step 11 as shown in Fig. 23.

  31. In the new harness the Alarm Contact (shown below in Fig. 24) plug size is bigger than the existing cutout, this needs to be increased slightly by sanding with the Dremel tool. Using the vacuum, clean all the metal dust. Extra caution should be taken not to allow any metal dust to accumulate on any of the electrical components on the inside.

  32. Using a touch-up pen “Thermo White w/ 5% Black Paint Pen” P/N 173023, apply in the areas where paint is removed during sanding.

  33. Make sure to ensure the connection is removed in steps 4 through 9.

  34. Using the vacuum clean all the insulation dust inside the cabinet and close it with the side panel.

  35. Connect the power cord and turn the unit on. Allow the incubator to stabilize for at least two hours.

  36. Verify all set points and calibrate the CO2 system (Section 3 of the manual) if needed.

  37. Verify unit operation.
