- Keep the AC adapter and power cord away from water droplets.
- Do not remove the cover of the device or AC adapter or modify the device or adapter. The interior of the device contains high-voltage parts, and opening it may lead to fire or electric shock. Ask your dealer to carry out any internal inspections, maintenance, and repairs. This device is a precision instrument, so refer this product to an authorized dealer or service center if disassembly is required.
- Due to the specifications of the product, all displays turn off when operation is stopped, thus the product may appear the same as when the power plug has been removed from the outlet. However, the power supply has not stopped providing power. To disconnect the product from the power supply completely, you must remove the power plug (breaker) from the outlet. Place the product close to an outlet, where the power plug (breaker) can be reached easily. Leaving the power plug plugged in for extended periods of time may lead to fire.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
- When connected to the AC adapter, do not put anything on or over the device or AC adapter.
- Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords. Doing so may result in fire or electric shock.
Ensure you abide by the following precautions, as failure to do so may lead to fire or electric shock.

Cautions in Usage
- Moisture can form in the operating section of the product if the drive is taken from cool surroundings to a room with a warmer temperature. Let the drive stand for one to two hours in the new location before turning it ON. Do not use this product outdoors.
- Avoid installing this drive in a location with exposure to large quantities of dust, high temperatures, high humidity, or excessive vibrations or shocks.
- Do not inspect or modify the interior of the device.
- Use a soft, dry cloth when wiping off dirt from the exterior of the device and the AC adapter. In the case of significant soiling, dilute a neutral cleaner five to six times in water and use this to moisten a soft cloth, wipe the soiling away, then dry with a dry cloth. Do not use volatile chemicals such as benzene, thinners, alcohol, or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the surface. Before using chemically treated cloth intended for the care of electronics, carefully read the cautions included with the cloth.
- When you do not intend to use the device for an extended period due to travel, etc., for safety, be sure to unplug the power plug from the outlet.

Handling discs
Handle the recording surface of the disc so that it is free from scratches,
fingerprints, dirt, dust, water, oil, salt, and other contaminants. If there
are any scratches, fingerprints, dirt, dust, water, oil, salt, or other
contaminants on the disc, refer to the following cleaning method and remove
the contaminants from the disc before use.
Disc removal
While pressing the circular central part of the case, use your other hand to
hold the edges of the disc and lift it up to remove it from its case.
Disc handling
Hold the disc so that you do not touch its recording surface.
Lightly rest your finger in the center hole of the disc. Inserting your finger into the hole excessively may result in it getting stuck.
Cleaning
- Avoid touching the recording surface of the disc as much as possible.
- Before wiping, try removing contamination with a camera-use air blower or similar device.
- When wiping off dirt, dust, or similar from the recording surface of the disc, use a soft cloth that does not produce lint, such as a microfiber cloth for glasses, or a commercially available cleaning cloth.
- When wiping, wipe gently from the inside to the outside Correct edge in order to prevent damage to the disc. Wiping with a circular motion may accidentally damage the disc, resulting in data loss.
- If contamination is difficult to remove, dampen the cloth above with water or ethanol and wipe gently.
- When using a commercially available cleaning liquid, ensure that you check the usage instructions.
- Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinners, or record cleaners, or anti-static agents.
- Ensure that there is no water or ethanol residue left on the disc.
- If there is any contamination, this will result in an error during further recording.
Writing on the label surface and affixing labels
Use a felt-tip pen to write on the label surface. Do not use writing
implements that have a hard tip. When writing on the label surface, refer to
“Disc handling” and handle the recording surface of the disc so that it is
free from scratches, fingerprints, dirt, dust, water, oil, salt, and other
contaminants. If there are any contaminants or dust, etc. on the disc, refer
to “Cleaning” and remove such contaminants before use while taking care not to
damage the disc.
Do not apply labels or adhesive tape, etc. to the label surface.
Returning the disc to the case
When returning the disc to the case, ensure that the disc label surface is
facing upward and press down the center (area around the hole).
Storage
- When storing the disc, ensure that it is kept in the plastic case in which it was purchased.
- Be careful not to let the recording surface of the disc come into contact with anything.
- When storing, avoid high temperatures, high humidity, and direct sunlight, and store in an environment free from external stresses.
Backup of important data
Mistakes in usage may accidentally damage the disc and result in data loss.
Accordingly, it is recommended to take backups (storing of both originals and
duplicates, etc.).
Unusable discs
- Do not use cracked or significantly warped discs. Doing so may lead to a malfunction in the drive.
- When using old or rental discs, check that there are no cracks around the center hole of the disc. The centrifugal force from high-speed rotation may enlarge these cracks, causing the disc to break.
- Do not use discs with special shapes (heart-shaped, hexagonal, etc.) or other non-standard discs. Doing so may lead to a malfunction in the drive.
