  • Base Giro is the base to be used with the Viaggio Giro/Twist car seat in rear-facing position, for children whose height is between 61 and 105 cm, and in forward-facing position, for children whose height is between 76 and 105 cm.
  • Base Giro should NOT be used with the following car seats: Primo Viaggio SL Primo Viaggio-PLUS Primo FF105

WARNING

  • Read the instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference. Failure to thoroughly follow the instructions for the installation of the car seat could put your child at serious risk. Carefully read the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions on how to install safety devices for children.
  • This base is an “i-Size” restraining system for infants. It is UN Regulation No. 129 approved and is suitable for the seats of cars that are compatible with “i-Size”, as indicated by the car manufacturer in the user and maintenance manual. Contact the restraining device manufacturer or retailer if you have doubts or require further information on the fitting of the i-Size Base in specific cars.
  • Do not fit this base onto passenger seats which have active airbags. Deactivate the airbag before fitting the base. Using this base on seats with active airbags may cause serious injury or death in the event of an accident.
  • Do not use the Base Giro if the child’s weight exceeds 18 kg.
  • IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE FORWARD-FACING IF THE CHILD IS LESS THAN 15 MONTHS OLD.
  • The Base Giro must be installed on forward-facing seats. Do not install the “Base Giro” on vehicle seats facing backwards or sideways.
  • The use of the Base Giro guarantees greater safety and makes the installation of Primo Viaggio (Lounge, SLK) easier compared to using the seats without the base.
  • Check that the child car seat is not blocked by a moving part of the seat or a door.
  • Consult the list of car models and seats equipped with ISOFIX anchor systems (see inside) that have been approved by the restraining system manufacturer.
  • Never leave your child unattended in the car, not even for short periods. The temperature inside the vehicle may change very rapidly and become dangerous for the child inside.
  • If your product is second-hand, check it is a recently built model, it comes with instructions and that all parts are working correctly. An obsolete product may not be compliant as a result of the normal aging of materials and new laws coming into force. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer’s support centre.
  • Do not use the base if it is visibly damaged or there are missing parts, or if it has been subjected to heavy impacts in an accident, because it might have suffered extremely dangerous structural damage that is not visible.
  • Do not use the product if the original fabric cover is not present.
  • The fabric cover and the expanded polystyrene (EPS) part are an integral part of the product and its performance: do not replace with non-original parts that have not been approved by the manufacturer.
  • Do not modify the product and do not remove the adhesive labels, as this may make the product not compliant with legal requirements.
  • For any repairs, replacement parts and information about the product, contact the after-sales assistance service. Contact information is provided on the last page of this manual.
  • The assembly and installation operations must be carried out by adults. Do not use installation methods different from those indicated. This would result in the risk of detachment from the seat.
  • Do not insert fingers into the mechanisms.
  • When travelling by car, take special care to ensure that luggage or other unsecured items cannot injure the child sitting in the car seat in the case of an accident.

Attaching the Base Giro

  1. Check the location of Isofix connectors and Isofix or I-Size logos on the seats in your vehicle.

  2. Install this car seat only on seats facing the normal direction of travel. If the vehicle has rotating or repositionable seats, position the seat so it faces the direction of travel.

  3. Extend the Isofix connectors by using the two levers on the side: press the safety tab (1) and the release button (2) and, at the same time, push the connectors as far out as they can (3).

  4. Rotate the support foot from under the base.

  5. Using with Primo Viaggio Lounge: Pull out the rebound bar from under the base until fully extended, as shown in the picture.

  6. Position the base on the vehicle seat as shown in the figure, aligned with the Isofix connectors. Push the base towards the vehicle seats’ Isofix connectors, pushing evenly on both sides of the base (a), checking there are no items or anything else near the seat connectors that could cause a malfunction. Connect and continue pushing the base towards the vehicle seat until you hear a click (b) and until it touches the back of the seat. Check the base is aligned with the direction of the vehicle (c). IMPORTANT: the two indicators on the connector activation levers of the Base Giro will turn from red to green to show that it has been connected correctly. IMPORTANT: after completing the operation, try moving the base to verify that both Isofix connectors have been connected correctly.

  7. Adjust the height of the supporting foot by pressing the lever at the base of the foot until it touches the vehicle floor (it is important that the foot be resting firmly on the vehicle floor, even if this means the base is raised slightly above the vehicle seat). If there is a storage compartment in the floor of your vehicle in the area where the leg rests, open the compartment lid and rest the leg on the base of the compartment.

  8. The base has a rotating attachment plate. To place the plate in the desired position, press the lever near the leg (1) and, at the same time, rotate the plate until it clicks (2).

  9. The indicators on the side of the lever are green when the rotating plate is correctly attached and positioned either forward-facing or rear-facing. If they are red, the plate is sideways or the attachment is not correct.
IMPORTANT: if the indicators are red, do not use in a moving car. Using with Primo Viaggio SLK/ Primo Viaggio Lounge

  10. Hold the car seat from the handlebar and attach it to the base by pressing down on the product with both hands until it clicks into place.
IMPORTANT: the two indicators on the side of the base will turn from red to green to show that it has been connected correctly. IMPORTANT: after completing the operation, try moving the car seat to verify it has been connected correctly.

  11. The handlebar must be rotated all the way forward, close to the back of the vehicle seat, as shown in the figure. Press the two buttons on the handlebar, rotate it and position it towards the vehicle seat, as shown in the figure, until it clicks.

  12. To rotate the infant seat on the base (only for sitting or removing the child from the seat), press the lever near the leg (1) and, at the same time, pull the car seat from one side so that it rotates on the base plate (2).
IMPORTANT: if the indicators of the rotating plate are red, do not use in a moving car.

  13. To release the car seat from the base, put the handlebar in the carry position and pull the lever on the back while simultaneously lifting the car seat. Using with Viaggio Giro/Twist in rear-facing position

  14. Check the rebound bar is in the slot under the base when using Viaggio Giro/Twist. Attach Viaggio Giro/Twist by positioning it on the Base Giro near the connectors (check the base shape matches) and pushing downwards until it clicks. Make sure that the red/green indicators on the side of the rotating plate are in the green position.
IMPORTANT: the two indicators on the side of the base will turn from red to green to show that it has been connected correctly.
IMPORTANT: after completing the operation, try moving the car seat to verify that the Isofix fittings have been connected correctly.

  15. Rotate the infant seat to rear-facing position by pressing the lever near the leg (1) and, at the same time, pulling the car seat from one side so that it rotates on the base plate (2).

  16. When this step is complete, check that the indicators on the side of the rotation lever have turned green.

  17. To sit and remove the child more easily, rotate the car seat sideways, so it is facing the side door of the vehicle. In this case, the indicators on the side of the rotation lever are red. IMPORTANT: if the indicators of the rotating plate are red, do not use in a moving car.

  18. To release Viaggio Giro/Twist from the Base Giro, pull the lever at the front, under the seat, and simultaneously lift the car seat. Using with Viaggio Giro/Twist in forward-facing position.

    • To release the car seat from the base, repeat the steps in picture 18
IMPORTANT: do not use Viaggio Giro/Twist in forward-facing position if the child is less than 15 months old and, after that, only if their height is above 76 cm. IMPORTANT: if the indicators of the rotating plate are red, do not use in a moving car.
      Releasing the Base Giro
