  • Diameters: 6, 8

  • Operating Mode: Normally closed, spring
    return

  • Voltage: 24VAC, 0.36A

Product Information

The MD Series Motorized Dampers are designed for indoor ductwork
installation. They come in diameters of 6 and 8 inches and operate
in a normally closed mode with spring return functionality. The
dampers are made of corrosion-resistant galvanized steel and
feature a foam blade seal for enhanced performance. The 24VAC
voltage requirement ensures efficient operation.

Key Benefits

  • Quick installation onto ERV round duct collars
  • Floating motor mount for proper alignment
  • Clutch/coupler for increased service life
  • Flow control adjustment for precise blade positioning

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Installation: Attach the motorized damper onto
the designated duct collar using appropriate fasteners. Ensure
proper alignment of the motor, shaft, and damper to prevent
    binding.

  2. Electrical Connection: Connect the damper to a
24VAC power source using the provided plug-in transformer (for
MD6-PT) or follow wiring guidelines for MD6-FM.

  3. Adjustment: Use the flow control adjustment
feature to set the desired blade position for optimal airflow
    control.

  4. Maintenance: Regularly inspect the damper for
any debris buildup or obstructions that may affect its operation.
Clean and lubricate moving parts as needed.

FAQ

Q: Can the motorized damper be used outdoors?

A: No, the motorized damper is specifically designed for indoor
ductwork installation only to ensure proper functionality and
longevity.

Q: How many moving parts does the clutch/coupler system

reduce?

A: The clutch/coupler system reduces the number of moving parts
in the damper assembly, contributing to a longer service life and
improved reliability.

APPLICATIONS
Prevent unwanted airflow through the energy recovery ventilator (ERV) when adverse outdoor air conditions, such as wildfire smoke are present or to meet local codes. The ENERGY STAR Single Family New Homes and ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction programs require a motorized damper on the ERV supply airstream if connected to a ducted return of the HVAC system to restrict airflow during ventilation off-cycle and occupant override. The MD Series dampers installed per recommend methods (see MD Series manual) on the SA duct collar will meet this requirement.
KEY BENEFITS
