Product Introduction

The EN ISO 374-1:2016+A1:2018 test measures the BTT penetration time which indicates the time a chemical substance takes to penetrate the glove material. The penetration time is defined in standard EN 16523-1:2015+A1:2018 as the rate of permeation of a chemical substance through the glove sample that is equivalent to 1 microgram per square centimeter and minute. The chemical resistance has been assessed under laboratory conditions from samples taken from the palm only (except in cases where the glove is equal to or over 400 mm where the cuff is tested also) and relates only to the chemical tested. This information does not reflect the actual duration of protection in the workplace and the differentiation between mixtures and pure chemicals. It can be different if the chemical is used in a mixture. No leakage has been detected during testing according to EN ISO 374-2:2019, 7.2 and 7.3. When used, protective gloves may provide less resistance to dangerous chemicals due to changes in physical properties. Movements, snagging, rubbing, degradation caused by chemical contact, etc. may reduce the actual use time significantly. For corrosive chemicals, degradation can be the most important factor to consider in the selection of chemical-resistant gloves. It is recommended to check that the gloves are suitable for the intended use because the conditions at the workplace may differ from the type of test depending on temperature, abrasion, and degradation. Contact should be particularly avoided with products that might affect glove structure. Ensure chemicals or residuals cannot enter via the cuff and come in contact with skin. Discontinue use immediately if signs of tearing, swelling, or degradation appear. Level 0 – the glove is below the minimum level of individual risk given. Level X – the glove has not undergone the test or the test method is not suitable for the design or glove material.

  • Gloves protect against bacteria and fungi but do not protect against viruses.
  • The penetration resistance has been assessed under laboratory conditions and relates only to the tested specimen.
  • Nitrile cotton supported long gloves, 30 cm. Winter lining. Well suited for protection against several chemicals and rough mechanical wear and tear.
  • This information does not reflect the actual duration of protection in the workplace due to other factors influencing the performance, such as temperature, abrasion, degradation, etc.
  • This glove is particularly recommended to be used in the chemical industry, maintenance, and other industries such as agriculture, industrial laundry, cleaning, and fishing.

Storage/Transport

  • The gloves are first packed in plastic bags which are subsequently packed in cardboard boxes for transport and storage. Granberg recommends storing unused gloves in original packaging. Prevent direct sunlight.

Maintenance/Cleaning

  • Both new and used gloves should be inspected before use, and before putting them on to make sure that there is no damage to them. If in doubt, discard the gloves and select a new pair.
  • Leaving the gloves in a contaminated condition may cause a deterioration of quality. Cleaning or disinfecting the gloves may also negatively affect quality.
  • The performance characteristics of gloves that have been worn or cleaned/disinfected/laundered may differ from the performance levels declared.
  • Gloves can only be cleaned with damp cloth, but it will not stop permeation processes.

Obsolescence

  • When stored as recommended, unused gloves will not suffer any change in their mechanical properties for up to three years from the date of manufacture.
  • Service life depends on application and maintenance and cannot be specified. It is the responsibility of the user to ascertain the suitability of the gloves for the user’s tasks.

Donning/Doffing

  • Select the right size glove for your hand. Hold the glove by the cuff with one hand. Align the glove thumb with your other hand thumb and slide your hand into the glove, one finger into each finger. Pull by the glove cuff and align fingers into the right position.
  • Use the same procedure for the other hand. If gloves are not contaminated, pull by the fingertips to doff the gloves. If gloves are contaminated, hold the glove cuff and pull toward the finger until the gloves come off.
  • Please note: Inspect the gloves for damage before use. Poorly fitting gloves will greatly reduce dexterity and cause fatigue. The gloves shall not be worn when there is a risk of entanglement with moving parts of machines. Gloves meeting the requirement for resistance to puncture may not be suitable for protection against sharply pointed objects such as hypodermic needles. Gloves containing latex may cause allergic reactions in case of hypersensitivity to latex.
  • Seek medical advice if applicable. None of the raw materials used in the glove, or the process of manufacturing it, are known to be harmful to the user. Gloves comply with Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 and Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006, and according to Commission Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011, they are suitable for handling all types of foods for short periods. These gloves are intended to protect hands in the working environment in accordance with EN 388:2016+A1:2018, EN ISO 374-1:2016+A1:2018/Type B, EN ISO 374-5:2016, and EN ISO 21420:2020. It is the responsibility of the user to evaluate and determine risks based on the intended application. The gloves should only be used for applications declared suitable by the manufacturer. Risk should be evaluated keeping in mind the protection levels and the harmonized standards on which gloves are tested. The results of the tests should help in glove selection, however, it must be understood that actual conditions of use cannot be simulated and it is the responsibility of the user, not the manufacturer, to determine glove suitability for the intended use. Further information may be obtained from the manufacturer.
