Setup Smart Switch 7 (B Plug) with Home Assistant Print

Connecting Smart Switch 7 to Home Assistant requires a working installation of that software with Z-Wave management being handled by Aeotec’s Z-Stick platform. Once connected to Z-Stick and Home Assistant with Z-WaveJS to MQTT, Smart Switch 7 will offer the following features for either product:
- On/off switch
- Dimmer – controls LED brightness of Smart Switch 7
- Current [A]
- Voltage [V]
- Immediate power use [W]
- Accumulated power use [kWh]
Steps to connect Smart Switch 7 to Home Assistant.
- Open Home Assistant Interface: http://homeassistant:8123/
- Click on “ Configuration ” at the bottom left of the page.
- Click on “ Integrations “.
- Click on “ Configure ” under your Z-Wave JS integration.
- Click on “ ADD NODE “.
- Click on “ START INCLUSION “.
- Now tap the Action Button on Smart Switch 7.
- Allow about 1-2 minutes to allow your Home Assistant to scan the device information and populate the correct device information about it.
How to remove or factory reset your Smart Switch 7 **from Home Assistant.**
- Open Home Assistant Interface: http://homeassistant:8123/.
- Click on “ Configuration ” at the bottom left of the page.
- Click on “ Integrations “.
- Click on “ Configure ” under your Z-Wave JS integration.
- Click on “ REMOVE NODE “.
- Click on “ START EXCLUSION ” – Your Home Assistant should start scanning for device button presses.
- Now tap the Action Button twice in 1 second on Smart Switch 7.
- Home Assistant will stop scanning for devices excluded (if not paired), if a device is paired, it will state which device it was removed. Reload the page, and you should notice one less device node under “Nodes ready” if it was connected previously.
Troubleshooting
Having issues pairing your device?

Move your Sensor within 4 – 10 ft of your Home Assistant Z-Wave network.

Remove power from Smart Switch 7 for 1 minute, then power it up again.

Try factory resetting or excluding your Smart Switch 7.
- Exclude first in case the device actually paired to Home Assistant otherwise it will leave a phantom device in your network that will be difficult to remove.
- Perform a manual hard factory reset.
- Press and hold the Action Button for 20 seconds until the green LED becomes solid at 20 seconds. If successful, the LED will fade blue in/out to indicate that it is ready to be connected to another hub.
