Installation:

Install the M.2 Storage Drives:

  1. Remove the Drive Tray from the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane.

  2. Remove the Heat Sink Cover from the Removable Drive Tray by
    pressing the two Plastic Heat Sink Latching Locks.

  3. Place the Drive next to the Drive Tray and match the Adjustable
    Standoff Holes.

  4. Remove the Adjustable Standoff and install it in the
    corresponding holes.

  5. Insert the Drive into the Removable Drive Tray’s M.2
    Connector.

  6. Gently slide the M.2 Drive Connector into the M.2 Connector of
    the Drive Tray.

  7. Optionally, install the Drive Mounting Screw to secure the
    Drive in place.

Install the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane:

  1. Turn off the Computer and disconnect all peripherals.

  2. Remove the Cover from the Computer Case.

  3. Locate an open PCIe x8 or x16 Slot that supports PCIe
    Bifurcation and remove the Metal Cover Plate.

  4. Gently insert the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane into the open PCIe
    slot and fasten the Bracket.

  5. Replace the Cover on the Computer Case.

Install the Drive Trays:

  1. Ensure the Drive Tray Lock is in the Unlocked position.

  2. Align the Drive Tray with the Drive Tray Bay on the M.2 NVMe
    SSD Backplane.

  3. Gently insert the Drive Tray until fully inserted.

FAQ:

Can I hot swap drives while the computer is turned on?

Hot swapping drives while the computer is turned on depends on
the Computer/Motherboard. Please consult with the manufacturer
regarding PCIe Hot Swap support.

Requirements

Installation
Warning: PCIe Cards can be damaged by static electricity. Ensure that the Installer is properly grounded before they open the Computer Case or touch the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane. The Installer should wear an Anti-Static Strap when installing any computer component. If an Anti-Static Strap is not available, discharge any built-up static electricity by touching a large Grounded Metal Surface for several seconds. Only handle the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane by its edges and do not touch the gold connectors.
Note: Consult the documentation that came with the Computer/Motherboard for details regarding how to enable and configure PCIe Bifurcation.
Install the M.2 Storage Drives
1. Remove the Drive Tray from the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane 2. Remove the Heat Sink Cover from the Removable Drive Tray by pressing the two
Plastic Heat Sink Latching Locks, located near the back of the tray, towards each other. 3. Place the Drive next to the Drive Tray and note the Adjustable Standoff Holes that match the length of the Drive. 4. Remove the Adjustable Standoff by pressing the side of the Adjustable Standoff and sliding it towards the front of the tray. 5. Install the Standoff in the Adjustable Standoff Holes that matches the length of the Drive. 6. Insert the Drive into the Removable Drive Tray’s M.2 Connector
Note: The M.2 Connector on the Drive is M-Keyed so that it only fits M-Keyed NVMe M.2 Storage Devices
7. Gently slide the M.2 Drive Connector into the M.2 Connector of the Drive Tray, and press the Drive down toward the adapter until the Drive is properly seated.

8. (Optional) Install the Drive Mounting Screw to secure the Drive in place. 9. Replace the Heat Sink Cover. 10. Repeat Steps 1 – 9 for the second M.2 NVMe Drive.
Install the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane
1. Turn off the Computer and disconnect the Power Cable and any Peripheral Devices that are connected (e.g. printers, external hard drives, etc.).
2. Remove the Cover from the Computer Case.
Note: Consult the documentation that came with the Computer for details about how to do this safely.
3. Locate an open PCIe x8 or x16 Slot that supports PCIe Bifurcation and remove the corresponding Metal Cover Plate from the rear of the Computer Case. In most instances, the Metal Cover Plate is attached to the rear of the Computer Case with a single Phillips Head Screw. Save this Phillips Head Screw for the next step.
4. Gently insert the M.2 NVMe SSD Backplane into the open PCIe x8 or x16 Slot and fasten the Bracket to the rear of the Computer Case, using the Phillips Head Screw from Step 4.
5. Replace the Cover from the Computer that was removed in Step 2.

Install the Drive Trays
Note: Hot swapping the drives while the computer is turned on is dependent on the Computer/Motherboard. Please consult with the manufacturer regarding PCIe Hot Swap support.
1. Ensure the Drive Tray Lock is in the Unlocked position. 2. Align the Drive Tray with the Drive Tray Bay located on the M.2 NVMe SSD
Backplane at the rear of the Computer. 3. Gently insert the Drive Tray until it is fully inserted.
Note: Make sure the drive tray is fully inserted before closing the latch. If inserted properly, the drive tray will be flush with the PCIe bracket. If the drive tray is inserted incorrectly, the drive tray will protrude from the PCIe bracket and the drive tray will not make full contact in the drive bay.
4. Use one of the included Keys to Lock the Drive Tray in place. 5. Repeat Steps 1 – 4 for the second M.2 NVMe Drive. 6. Reconnect the Power Cable to the rear of the Computer. 7. Power on the Computer and all connected Peripheral Devices.
