Assigning a Static IP Address on Windows 10

  1. Click on the Windows button and then click the settings icon or type “Network & Internet” into the search box.
  2. Open Network & Internet settings.
  3. Click on “Change Adapter Options”.
  4. Right-click on Ethernet and select Properties.
  5. Double-click on Internet Protocol, Version 4 /TCP/IPv4.
  6. Enter the desired IP address, subnet mask, and gateway if necessary.
  7. Note: Ensure the subnet mask matches the device you are connecting to.
  8. Note: The first three values of the IP address must match the target device, and the fourth value should differ.

Procedure

  • Go to “Settings” (click on the Windows button and then click the settings icon.)

  • Open Network & Internet
  • Click on “Change Adapter Options
  • Right-click on “Ethernet” and then click on “Properties
  • Double-click on “Internet Protocol, Version 4 /TCP/IPv4
  • Here you can enter the IP address, subnet mask, and (if necessary) a standard gateway defined.

Define IP address and subnet mask:

  • Subnetzmasks: 255.255.255.0
  • (Please note that the subnet mask must be set up in the same way in the device you want to connect to.)
  • IP address: e.g. 192.168.1.2
  • (Please note that according to the subnet mask selected above, the first three values of the IP address must be the same for both the PC and the device you are trying to connect. The fourth value must be different.
