OPERATION

Unpacking

  1. Remove cartons, packaging foam, bags, and fixed tape. Check if the instructions, ice basket, and ice scoop are complete. If anything is missing, contact help.Kogan.com service personnel.
  2. Ensure the machine’s power socket is reliably grounded and connected to 220V 50Hz/10A, within a voltage range of 198V-242V.
  3. Place the machine in a well-ventilated area with a relatively low ambient temperature. Ensure it is positioned horizontally. Maintain a distance of at least 20cm between the air outlet and any barrier, and at least 10cm between the sides and any barrier material.
  4. If the machine has been inverted during transportation and handling, leave it static for more than 1 hour before starting.

Ice Making

  1. Before plugging in the machine, insert one end of the external water pipe into the water inlet and the other end into a barrel of water or the tap. Turn on the faucet (recommended water pressure not exceeding 0.5 MPa).
  2. Plug in the power plug. The power symbol will start to flash, and the arrow on the water symbol will flash. The machine will automatically add water to the inner liner through a solenoid valve or self-priming pump until it reaches the standard water level. Press the power button on the operation panel to start making ice.
  3. The ice making symbol will rotate dynamically, and the upper left of the display screen will show the current ambient temperature. After a few minutes, the ambient temperature display area will show a flashing number indicating the remaining ice making time.
  4. After each ice making cycle, the system enters the ice removal mode, and the ice making symbol will flash. The machine will automatically fill the inner tank with water to the standard level, entering the next ice-making cycle.
  5. If the water symbol is constantly on, it indicates a water shortage. Restart the machine to resume ice making.

Note:
Each ice making cycle lasts approximately 13-25 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and the temperature of the water added. Especially the first production due to the high-water temperature inside the inner tank, the ice making time will be longer. But the ice making cycle will not exceed 30 minutes.

Adjusting Ice Thickness

  1. Adjust the ice thickness using the “+” and “-” buttons on the control panel. The ice making time setting, shown on the lower left of the display screen, is set to “0” by default.
Pressing the “+” button increases the ice making time by one minute, resulting in thicker ice cubes.
Pressing the “-” button decreases the time, producing thinner ice cubes. The machine returns to the default setting “0” after being powered on again. Note that the set time affects only the next and subsequent ice making cycles.

  2. When the ice full symbol lights up, the ice maker stops. After removing the ice cubes, the machine resumes working.

Ice Making Shutdown

  • During ice making, press the power button on the operation panel to enter standby mode. Holding the power button for more than 5 seconds will activate the ice removal mode to help remove ice cubes from the tray.
  • Press the power button again to turn off the machine.

Automatic Cleaning Operation

  • The automatic self-cleaning program runs for 20 minutes. Insert one end of the external water pipe into the water inlet and the other end into a bottled water or tap. Turn on the faucet, plug in the power plug, and turn on the machine. The machine will fill  the inner liner with water.
  • Press and hold the “Timed Cleaning” button on the control panel for more than 5 seconds to activate the cleaning function. The display symbol will rotate dynamically, and the time countdown area will show 20 minutes.

Cancel Automatic Cleaning
The automatic cleaning procedure completes in about 20 minutes. The system will then shut down automatically. You can also press the power button on the control panel to stop the self-cleaning program forcefully.

Timed Startup and Shutdown Function:

  • Timing Setting: The timing range is 1-24 hours.
  • Timed Shutdown: Set the machine to shut down at a predetermined time during ice making.
  • Timed Startup: Set the machine to start up at a predetermined time during standby mode.
  1. To set the timing, press the timing button on the operation panel. Adjust the timing time using the “+” and “-” buttons. The “H” symbol in the lower corner of the number will flash during adjustment and become constant after 5 seconds, completing the setting. The display will indicate when the machine turns on or off.
  2. To cancel the timing, press the power button. Both the numbers and “H” on the screen will turn off, indicating that the timer has been cancelled.

Machine Drainage

  1. Remove the drain plug to drain the water from the inner tank. The water can only be drained when the power is turned off. After drainage, reset the drain plug.
  2. To ensure hygiene, change the water every 24 hours and clean the machine’s liner every three days.

Tips for Using the Ice Maker

  • Check the water inlet and drip pipe for blockages regularly and clean as needed.
  • The temperature of the water added to the inner liner affects ice production; lower temperatures yield more ice.
  • A lower ambient temperature increases ice production.
  • The quality of water used impacts the machine’s circulating water pump life. Use purified or distilled water. Abnormal sounds during the pump’s operation due to water impurities are normal and do not affect the machine’s use.
  • After abnormal operation or unexpected power failure, there will be a 3-minute delay before the machine can restart.
  • every 24 hours and clean the inside of the machine’s liner every three days.

CLEANING & CARE

Initial Cleaning Before Use

  • Open the lid and remove the ice basket and ice spoon.
  • Add an appropriate amount of warm water to the machine tank. Clean the tank using a neutral detergent and a soft cloth.
  • Thoroughly clean all parts repeatedly.
  • Drain the machine by removing the water plug from the drainage outlet, then reset the water plug after drainage.
  • Clean the machine’s exterior shell with the power supply turned off, using a dry cloth for best results.
  • Add water to the machine and run 1-2 ice-making cycles. Discard all ice cubes produced during these cycles and drain the water.
Note: Always cut off the power supply during internal cleaning and drainage.

Regular Cleaning

  • Repeat the initial cleaning steps to maintain the internal and external cleanliness of the machine.kogan com KA25CICEMKA 25kg Ice Cube Maker - Regular Cleaning
  • Pay special attention to cleaning the drip tube on the upper part of the evaporator.
  • If the compressor and water pump operate normally but the drip pipe has poor water flow or no water ejection, remove and clean the drip tube.
  • Ensure each small hole in the drip tube is cleaned so that water can spray smoothly. Reset the drip tube after cleaning.
  • If ice adheres firmly to the evaporator, do not forcefully pry it off. Instead, press the “ON/OFF” key for more than 5 seconds to activate the forced ice melting mode, which takes about 1-3 minutes.
