This smoke detector is designed for domestic use (weekend homes) and for use in caravans and motorhomes. Not for use on sailboats.

LOCATION

Ideally, every room in the house should have at least one smoke detector, especially in bedrooms and hallways. If a room is longer than 10 metres, smoke detectors should be installed at both ends. In stairwells, the ceiling is the most ideal point, while in basements or cellars the ceiling is the area nearest the stairway, preferably above the stairs.

Attention! Smoke from a remote area of the building may not reach the detector in time to warn the occupants (e.g. due to closed doors). The smoke detector will not immediately indicate a fire unless it is in the room where it is installed. It does not detect heat, gas, flame or light, only visible combustion products in the air!

To avoid false alarms, DO NOT INSTALL:

  • in a place where smoke or steam may be naturally present (e.g. kitchen),
  • near a smoking area,
  • in areas with high humidity (e.g. bathrooms, washing and drying machines) it is recommended to keep the appliance at least 3 metres away from such and similar sources of disturbance!
  • at least 1 m distance from cooling or heating equipment, fans!
  • garage, due to exhaust fumes from the garage,
  • in places subject to extreme temperature fluctuations or in rooms with temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C,
  • especially in dirty, dusty air, as this may lead to contamination or failure of the optical sensor

If you may experience frequent false alarms, find a new, suitable location for your device.

POSITIONING THE DEVICE

The smoke detector can be mounted on the ceiling, ideally at or near the centre of the ceiling. If this is not possible, make sure that it is not placed in a corner, but at least 70 cm away from it, and at least 50 cm away from the side walls when installing the device.

Leave at least 150 cm clearance from various lights, exhaust fans, air conditioners, and other air inlets/ outlets. Do not place the appliance in bathrooms or other places where it can easily be exposed to water. Do not place the appliance more than 3 m above the floor.

COMMISSIONING

You can fix the device in place using the supplied adhesive disk or screws.

If you would like to fix the device with the adhesive discs:

Attach the supplied double-sided adhesive disk to the mounting location of the device. Attach the bracket to the adhesive disk. Place the appliance on the bracket and fix it by turning it counter-clockwise. If the fixing is successful, the device will beep. After mounting, press the test button in the centre of the device. If you experience any abnormality, replace the device.

If you would fix the device with screws:

Place the mounting bracket of the device in the installation location and use it to mark where the holes are to be drilled. Drill two holes with a diameter of 4 mm. (The distance between them is 74 mm.) Insert the dowels into the holes. Place the screws on the bracket, then screw them into the dowels and tighten them firmly. Place the smoke indicator on the bracket and secure it by screwing it counter-clockwise. When successfully secured, the device will beep. After mounting, press the test button in the centre of the device. If you experience any abnormality, replace the device.

MODES AND INDICATIONS

Normal mode:

The device is in normal (standby) mode by default, with the device attached to its back. A red LED flashes approximately every 40 seconds to indicate that the device is ready.

Alert:

If a smoke concentration above the limit is detected, the red LED will flash continuously and the device will emit a loud, intermittent beep until the hazard is eliminated.

Equipment failure:

If the device or sensor fails, a red LED flashes twice every 40 seconds and two beeps indicate the failure. Replace the device!

Low battery voltage:

When the battery voltage is low, the red LED flashes every 40 seconds with an acoustic signal. Replace the device!

Test mod:

Press the Test button briefly, the red LED will flash continuously and the device will emit a beep. After a short time the device will stop. If you notice any abnormalities, replace the device.

Mute:

During an alarm, press the Test button briefly. The alarm will then be silenced for 9 minutes. After 9 minutes, if the smoke concentration is still above the alarm limit, the alarm will continue. Attention! Muting the alarm does not reduce the fire risk! Always check your house for potential fire hazards when the alarm is sounding.

IN THE EVENT OF AN ALARM

In the case of a false alarm (e.g. cigarette smoke), do not ignore the alarm, but ventilate the smoke until the alarm goes off by itself. The red LED will flash continuously during the alarm. During an alarm, the audible alarm can be muted by pressing the large circular button in the centre. The red LED will still indicate the alarm!

Attention! It is not guaranteed that you can warn all concerned in all cases. A loud beep may be drowned out by other noise, such as music. It cannot warn people under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

In order to minimise the risk, the alert must be known immediately and responded to quickly and appropriately. Identify the source of the hazard and evacuate the building if life is in danger. Explain to family members at the time of occupancy what to do in the event of an alarm, and identify possible escape routes in advance. If necessary, they should crawl on the floor, as the smoke will fill the upper air space first. Do not open a hot door! Stay calm and leave the building as soon as possible and call the fire brigade. This device is not designed for professional use and does not guarantee life-saving in case of fire. It is not a substitute for taking other precautions and taking out the usual insurance. This is the responsibility of the occupants!

MAINTENANCE, CLEANING

Check the operation of the alarm unit by pressing the TEST button at least once a week. The end of the smoke detector’s life is indicated on the unit. If you notice any abnormality in the unit or if the indicated time limit has expired, replace the unit.

Once a month, remove the appliance from the back cover and vacuum the cover and air vent with a soft brush head to remove dust and dirt. Immediately after cleaning, reinstall and check that the appliance is working correctly by pressing the test button

Never use detergents or solvents to clean the appliance.

Do not use air freshener, hair spray or other aerosol products near the smoke detector.

Do not paint the device. Paint can clog air vents and adversely affect the operation of the smoke detector.

Never attempt to disassemble, modify, or clean the inside of the unit, as this may result in malfunction and void the warranty. Designed for indoor use only!
