complies with assembly and maintenance procedures. This User Manual is your
guide to ensure that you get the best performance out of the equipment. Amico
Accessories Inc. is not responsible for any damage as a result of, but not
limited to, abuse and other problems that may be a direct or indirect result
of failure to comply with the instructions provided in this manual.

Section 3: Installation
Cabinet Installation
NOTE: FOR CUSTOMERS WHO PURCHASE THE SMARTDRAWERS WITH A NEW HUMMINGBIRD
CART, THE CABINET WILL BE DELIVERED FULLY ASSEMBLED WITH THE CABLE CONNECTED.
PLEASE SKIP THE CABINET INSTALLATION AND PROCEED TO PAGE 13 FOR SMARTDRAWERS
INITIAL SET UP.

Unplug the cart from power outlet and adjust the height to the maximum position. (See section 6 of the Hummingbird User Manual for details).

Follow page 32 of the Hummingbird User Manual to open the battery compartment, then disconnect the yellow Anderson 6331G8 Connector (Figure 1).

Slide 2x DOVETAIL SLIDES into the COLUMN’S side channels, use 2x #8 SET SCREWS to secure them at the position where the top of the DOVETAIL SLIDE is 9″ away from the bottom of the WORKTOP (Figure 2).

4a. 1-row Cabinet(For 2-row or 3-row cabinets, please skip step 4a and proceed to step 4b on page 8).
4a-Ι. Mount BACK MOUNTING PLATE onto 1-ROW CABINET with 8x #8 FLANGED SCREWS (Figure 3). 4a-ΙΙ.Mount BACK MOUNTING PLATE onto BACK MOUNTING BRACKET with 4x10 FLATHEAD SCREWS. Install CABLE into CONNECTOR, firmly press CONNECTOR
until the lock tab is fully engage (click sound) (Figure 4). 4a-ΙΙΙ.Mount BACK MOUNTING BRACKET onto the DOVETAIL SLIDE with 4x #8 FLATHEAD SCREWS. Install RIGHT REAR COVER and LEFT REAR COVER (Figure 5). (Continue to step 5 on page 12, skip steps 4b-Ι to 4b-V ). 4b. 2-row or 3-row Cabinet
(For 1-row cabinet, please complete 4a-Ι to 4a-ΙΙΙ on page 6 instead).
4b-Ι. Mount BACK MOUNTING PLATE onto the BACK MOUNTING BRACKET with 4x #10 FLATHEAD SCREWS (Figure 6). 4b-ΙΙ. Install CABLE into CONNECTOR, firmly press CONNECTOR until lock tab is fully engage (click sound) (Figure 7). 4b-ΙΙΙ.Tilt the CABINET and insert the TOP FLANGE onto the BACK MOUNTING BRACKET. Slide the CABINET down slowly until the CABINET is fully seated on the BACK MOUNTING BRACKET (Figure 8). 4b-ΙV.Install 2x CABINET SECUREMENT SCREWS (Figure 9). 4b-V. Install RIGHT REAR COVER and LEFT REAR COVER (Figure 10). The rest of the CABINET installation (steps 5 – 9) are the same for all CABINETS. -
Insert the CABLE into WORKTOP through the hole located on the back of the KEYBOARD TRAY (Figure 11).

Plug CABLE into the Hummingbird CONTROL INTERFACE (Figure 12).

Load the DRAWERS to the CABINET according to the selected layout (Figure 13).

Connect the yellow Anderson 6331G8 Connector in the battery compartment (Figure 14). Follow page 32 of the Hummingbird User Manual to restore and lock the battery compartment cover.

Plug in the cart’s power cord to a wall outlet. Wait for the startup of the cart which may take up to 20 seconds to complete.
SmartDrawers Initial Set Up
A. Locate Home Screen
Home Screen of the Hummingbird cart Control Interface (Figure 15). A
SmartDrawers icon will appear when the cabinet installation and cart startup
is complete.
SmartDrawers administrator control access and restrictions in operating the
cart and SmartDrawers for registered Users or guests to adhere to system and
facility policies. Please follow the instructions below on operation of the
SmartDrawers and creating a new User profile.
B. Log In as Admin User
a. Log in as an “ADMIN” User with designated credentials and tap on “SETTINGS”
(Figure 16).
WARNING: TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF THE SYSTEM AND USERS, SET YOUR OWN
DEFAULT PASSWORD. b. Tap on “SmartDr awe r ” (Figure 17) to access the
configuration options for SmartDrawers setup (Figure 18). NOTE: TAKE NOTE
OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION IF YOU ARE USING BIRDSEYE FLEET MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
IN YOUR HOSPITAL.
The following settings are controlled via the BirdsEye dashboard:
- Allow guest user access
- User can edit labels
Any changes made on the interface will be overridden by settings configured on
the fleet management dashboard.
Refer to BirdsEye Window Client User Manual for further details.
The following settings can be modified or reset remotely by IT administrators
using the dashboard:
- Prompt for Pin
- SmartDrawer Pin
- 2FA Pin
- Logout when inactive for (x-time)
- Lock drawer after (x-time)
NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING BIRDSEYE FLEET MANAGEMENT IN YOUR HOSPITAL, ENABLE 2FA (PROMPT FOR PASSWORD/PIN) WILL BE OVERRIDE BY THE DASHBOARD SETTINGS.
C. Configure Prompt for PIN
If enabled, access to the SmartDrawers is protected by a PIN, which can be
configured by:
- Setting the PIN same as the User Login credentials for accessing SmartDrawers, or
- Assigning a specific PIN for accessing the SmartDrawers. When this option is enabled, the default PIN is 5555 (Figure 19).
D. Cabinet Setup
Setup SmartDrawers layout on the control interface to mimic the physical
SmartDrawers layout for easy identification of the Drawers (Figure 20). You
may add up to 3 rows of SmartDrawers (Figure 21). E. SmartDrawers 2-factor
Authentication (Bin 2FA) Setup
Admin Users can also enable and configure a 2-factor authentication for
increased security in accessing the individual drawers in the SmartDrawers
(Figure 22). Bin 2FA is not available for all-unlocking SmartDrawers cabinets.
F. Other Admin Setup
A selection of admin setup is available (Figure 23). G. Add a New User

THE OPENED SMARTDRAWERS IN ORDER TO FULLY LOCK THEM.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE TO LEARN ABOUT THE LOCK-UNLOCK TIMINGS OF THE
SMARTDRAWERS PRIOR TO ACTUAL USAGE.
WARNING: DO NOT LEAN OR REST ANY OBJECTS ON OR SIDE OF THE SMARTDRAWERS
CABINET.
WARNING: PLEASE ENSURE THE CABINET HAS ENOUGH CLEARANCE FOR DRAWERS TO
OPEN WITHOUT ANY INTERFERENCE.
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INCLINE OR DECLINE THE CART FOR ANY SORT OF
CLIMBING UP OR DOWN, THIS MAY DAMAGE THE ITEMS WITHIN THE SMARTDRAWERS.
WARNING: PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH SMARTDRAWER HAS A LOAD LIMIT OF 1.1 LB
(0.5 KG) TO FUNCTION PROPERLY, EXCEEDING THIS MAY STRESS ON THE INTERNAL
ELECTROMECHANICAL COMPONENTS AND RESULT INTO MALFUNCTIONING.
WARNING: USER HAS TO MAKE SURE THAT ITEMS SHOULDN’T BE FORCEFULLY SHOVED
OR PUSHED INTO THE SMARTDRAWERS, AND MUST BE ABLE TO FIT SUBTLETY.
WARNING: PLEASE NOTE THAT FACILITY PERSONNEL ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING
THE ACCESS OF THE CONFIDENTIAL PHI (IF STORED IN ANY FORM) ON THE CART USER
INTERFACE.
Access SmartDrawers
Tap on the “SmartDrawers” button on the home screen to get to the SmartDrawers
control center (Figure 26).
Enter PIN (If prompted)
WARNING: TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF THE SYSTEM AND USERS, SET YOUR OWN
DEFAULT PASSWORD.
When prompted for PIN, enter the SmartDrawers Password and tap “OK” (Figure
27). NOTE: GUEST (NON-REGISTERED USER ON CART) CAN ACCESS SMARTDRAWERS BY
ENTERING DEFAULT PIN 5555* (configuration set by facility).
Unlocking SmartDrawers
The SmartDrawers Control Center screen is a graphic layout of the actual
SmartDrawers cabinet and will show the graphic version of the SmartDrawers
installed on the cart.
To unlock, tap on the desired SmartDrawers icon. On an individually-unlocking
cabinet, the selected SmartDrawers kicks open (Figure 28a).
On an all-unlocking cabinet, SmartDrawers are unlocked and ready to be open
until the unlock status times out (Figure 28b). If 2FA enabled on an
individually-unlocking cabinet, system will prompt for the drawer specific
PIN. Enter PIN and tap “OK” to unlock the drawer (Figure 29). Locking
SmartDrawers
When an open SmartDrawer is pushed all the way in, the SmartDrawer will lock.
For individual-unlocking cabinet, slam lock anytime. For all-unlocking
cabinets, when the drawer icon returns from grey to white and the drawer’s
light turns off, SmartDrawers will be locked (Figure 30). Editing
SmartDrawers Labels
If enabled and allowed by Admin, to edit SmartDrawers label on screen,
I. Access SmartDrawers (see page 18).
II. Enter PIN if prompted (see page 18).
III. On the SmartDrawers Control Center screen, follow the steps described
below to log in as a user (Figure 31).
The maximum string length is 10-15 characters for each slim SmartDrawer, and
25-32 characters for each wide SmartDrawer. Each drawer is also available with
a printed label slot at the front. SmartDrawers 2-factor Authentication
(2FA)
If enabled and allowed by the Admin, the User can protect individual drawers
with a second level of security by setting individual passwords to each
drawer. Password-protected drawers will have a shield on their respective
icons (Figure 32). On the SmartDrawer Control Center screen, follow the steps
described below to set the PIN.

SHOULD BE MORE FREQUENT FOR HIGHER-USE AREAS.
WARNING: TO AVOID RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE ELECTRICAL
COMPONENTS TO WATER, CLEANING SOLUTIONS, OR OTHER POTENTIALLY CORROSIVE
LIQUIDS OR SUBSTANCES.
WARNING: DO NOT IMMERSE WORKSTATION OR COMPONENTS IN LIQUID OR ALLOW
LIQUIDS TO FLOW INTO THE WORKSTATION.
WARNING: ADJUSTMENT, SERVICE, REPLACEMENT – DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST,
SERVICE, OR REPLACE ANY PART OF THE HUMMINGBIRD MOBILE WORKSTATION UNLESS
DIRECTED TO DO SO THROUGH AMICO APPROVED DOCUMENTATION (I.E. INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS). ONLY AMICO ACCESSORIES INC., OR AN AMICO-CERTIFIED ENTITY MAY
ADJUST, SERVICE, OR REPLACE HUMMINGBIRD MOBILE WORKSTATION COMPONENTS. IF ANY
COMPONENTS ON THE WORKSTATION ARE MISSING OR DAMAGED, THE WORKSTATION MUST NOT
BE USED. CONTACT AMICO CUSTOMER CARE IMMEDIATELY TO REQUEST A REPLACEMENT
PART.
WARNING: THIS WORKSTATION IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN A FLAMMABLE,
ANESTHETIC MIXTURE, OR OXYGEN-RICH ENVIRONMENT.
WARNING: USE OF ACCESSORIES, TRANSDUCER, AND CABLES, OTHER THAN THOSE
SPECIFIED OR PROVIDED BY AMICO COULD RESULT IN INCREASED ELECTROMAGNETIC
EMISSIONS OR DECREASED ELECTROMAGNETIC IMMUNITY OF THE EQUIPMENT AND RESULT IN
IMPROPER OPERATION.
It is recommended that once every three (3) months, all locks, bolts and,
screws are visually inspected for signs of product wear and tear or damage.
Check the product for looseness in the mount and ensure the adapter is secured
to the rail.
Ensure the 2x SET SCREWS on the CHANNEL are fastened to the tightest possible
position and ensure the cabinet is secure.
Cleaning
WARNING: THE CLEANING CHEMICALS AND METHODS BELOW ARE NOT MEANT FOR
CONTROLLING ANY INFECTIONS. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOSPITAL OR
THE HOSPITAL’S INFECTION CONTROL OFFICER TO SANITIZE THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: PLEASE DO NOT SPRAY ANY CHEMICALS DIRECTLY ONTO THE
SMARTDRAWERS. APPLY ONTO A SOFT CLOTH AND WIPE CLEAN TO PREVENT CHEMICALS
GETTING INTO THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF THE SMARTDRAWERS.
The Mounting Assembly may be cleaned with most mild, non-abrasive solutions commonly used in the hospital environment (e.g., diluted bleach, ammonia, or alcohol solutions). The surface finish will be permanently damaged by strong chemical and solvent such as acetone and trichloroethylene. Steel wool or other abrasive material should never be used. Damage caused by the use of unapproved substances or processes will not be warranted. It is recommended that you test any cleaning solution on a small area of the SmartDrawers that is not visible to verify compatibility. Never submerge the SmartDrawers and do not allow liquids to enter them. Wipe any cleaning agents off the SmartDrawers immediately using a water-dampened cloth. Dry the SmartDrawers thoroughly after.
Warranty Policy – SmartDrawers
Amico Accessories Inc. warrants all mounting accessories and electrical
systems to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of
twelve (12) months from the date of shipment. Within this period Amico
Accessories Inc. will repair or replace any part which is proven to be
defective.
Amico Accessories Inc. will warrant its mechanical materials to be free from
defect for an additional period of four [4] years, (five [5] years from the
date of shipment), and electrical materials to be free from defect for an
additional period of two (2) years (three
[3] years from the date of shipment), except for SLA or any Hot Swap battery
which is not manufactured by Amico Accessories Inc. Within this period, Amico
Accessories Inc. will replace any part at no charge, which is proven to be
defective. Shipping and
Installation costs after the first twelve (12) months will be borne by the
customer.
This warranty is valid only when the product has been properly installed
according to Amico Accessories Inc. specifications, used in a normal manner
and serviced according to factory recommendations. It does not cover products
that are not manufactured by Amico Accessories Inc. It does not cover failures
due to damage which occurs in shipments or failures which resulted from
accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, alteration, misapplication or
damage that may be attributable to acts of God.
Amico Accessories Inc. shall not be liable for incidental or consequential
damages resulting from use of equipment.
All claims for warranty must first be approved by Amico Accessories Inc. A
valid Return Goods Authorization (RGA) number must be obtained from Amico
Accessories Inc. prior to commencement of any service work. Warranty work,
which has not been preauthorized by Amico Accessories Inc., will not be
reimbursed.
AMICO ACCESSORIES INC. DOES NOT HONOR VERBAL STATEMENTS CONCERNING THE
WARRANTY.
The distributor and/or dealer are not sanctioned to create verbal warranties
about the product described in this agreement. Any statements will not be
honored or be made part of the agreement of sale. This document is the final
complete and exclusive terms of the agreement.

incidental or consequential damages including, but not limited to, profit,
loss of sales or injuries to person(s) or property. Correction of
noncompliance as noted above will result in completion of all liabilities of
Amico Accessories Inc., whether based on agreement, neglect or changed
materials, designs or specifications without notice.
All claims for warranty must first be approved by Amico Accessories Inc.
