STIHL ALB 8000 portable battery charger
Thank you for your purchase. The information contained in this manual will
help you receive maximum performance and satisfaction from your charger and,
if followed, reduce the risk of injury from its use.
SAVE THIS MANUAL!
Special safety precautions must be observed to reduce the risk of personal
injury.
Read this instruction manual thoroughly before use and periodically

Connects to the vehicle’s charging port – output end -

Before using battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on battery charger, battery and mower.
-
To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, store in an enclosed and dry area free of conductive contaminants.
-
Use of an attachment not recommended may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
-
Do not abuse cord or charger. Never use the cord to carry the charger. Do not pull the charger cord when disconnecting from the electrical outlet. Damage to the cordor ~ charger could occur and create an electric shock hazard.
-
Remove the charger cord by removing the plug from the electrical outlet Bring to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer if cords are damaged Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped or otherwise
damaged in any way. Take it to an authorized STIHL servicing dealer for electrical check to determine if the charger is in good working order. -
Do not cover the ventilation slots of the charger. Do not set the charger on a soft surface i.e. blanket, pillow. Keep the ventilation slots of the charger clear.

Confim the voltage available at your location before using the charger.

DO NOT probe the charger with conductive materials

DO NOT allow liquid inside the charger.

DO NOT try to use the charger for any other purpose than what is presented in this manual

Do not try to connect two chargers together.

Do not allow small metal items or material such as steel wool, aluminum foil, or other foreign particles into the charger cavity.

Do not attempt to recharge no rechargeable batteries with the charger.

Do not let minors use this product – even under adult supervision. They should not be authorized to clean or maintain the charger, even with supervision

If the cord set is damaged, it must be replaced with a special cord set available from the manufacturer or by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
Do not expose the charger to rain or Snow.
Keep the charger away from conductive or combustible dust. -
Do not expose the charger to explosive environments, Do not expose the charger to gases and vapors that can corrode metals and destroy insulation
The charger must be placed in a well-ventilated environment to avoid heat accumulation, which may cause abnormal heat dissipation of the charger. -
Do not place the charger on a vertical surface inclined more than 5 degrees, and there should be no severe vibration and impact

Improper use could resutt in personal injury or property damage, including damage to the charger.
Use the charger only as described in this manual. Never use the charger as a cup holder, shelf, or step stool. Use for any purpose other than charging batteries RZA/ AZA 5XX (or higher) lithium-ion batteries is prohibited and could result in personal injury or property damage.
– Never attempt to modify or override the charger’s controls or safety devices in any way
– Never use a charger that has been modified or altered from its original design -
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and other personal injury or property damage:
– Do not handle the charger, including power supply cord and plug, with wet hands.
– Never use a damaged charger.
– Never charge malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or deformed batteries.
-Operate the charger only indoors or in an enclosed, dry area and within an ambient temperature range of 4°F to +122°F (-20°C to +50°C),
– Keep the charger out of the reach of children
– Always plug the charger into a properly installed electrical outlet / power source matching the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the charger.
– If too many devices are connected to a power strip, electrical components can be overload during charging, leading to overheating and fire. If using a power strip, never exceed its total capacity
– Do not operate a charger that has received a shar or heavy blow, has been dropped or is otherwise damaged in any way.
– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the charger. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
– Clean/ wipe down with a dry cloth. -
To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire from a short circuit
— Make sure the battery and charger are completely dry before starting the charging process.
– Never bridge the contacts of the charger with wires or other metallic objects.
— Do notinsert any objects into the charger’s cooling slots. -
The charger heats up during the charging process. To reduce the risk of fire:
— Do not operate on a combustible surface (e.g., paper, cardboard, texiles) or ina combustible environment.
– Allow the charger to cool down normally.
Do not cover it -
Chargers can produce sparks, particularly when the charger is inserted o removed from the charging port. Sparks may ignite combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible materials. To reduce the fisk of fire and explosion:
– Do ot operate in a location where combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible materials are present -
Using a damaged power supply cord or plug may resultin fire, electric shock and other personal injury or property damage. To reduce these risks:
– Check the charger’s power supply cord and plug regularly for damage. If damaged, immediately disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet
– Have a damaged power supply cord replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
— Unplug the power supply cord from the electrical outlet when the charger is not in use.
— Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect it from the electrical outlet To unplug, grasp the plug, not the power supply cord
– Do not use the power supply cord for carrying or hanging up the charger.
— Make sure the power supply cord is located or marked so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects or moving parts, or otherwise be subjected to damage or stress. -
A single STIHL ALB 8000 charger draws approximately 32 A and need a NEMA 14-50R outlet (PLUG is 14-50P). To reduce the risk of fire from overloading an electrical circuit
— Ensure the electrical system is rated to withstand the expected electrical draw before charging
– Connect multiple chargers to separate circuits unless you know your circuit can handle the total expected draw. -
In case of fire, or if the charger or the battery itis charging emits smoke, an unusual smell, feels hot or appears abnormal in any other way:
— Immediately disconnect the charger from the electrical outlet and prepare to contact the authorities in the event of fire or explosion. -
To reduce the risk of electric shock
— Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet before inspecting or cleaning the charger.
— Regularly check the electrical contacts of the charger and ensure that the insulation of the power cord and plug are in good condition and show no signs of aging (brittieness), wear or damage.
– Have a damaged power supply cord replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer. -
Improper storage can result in unauthorized use, damage to the charger, and an increased risk of fire, electric shock and other personal injury or property damage:
— Store the charger indoors or in an enclosed, dry area
— Keep it out of the reach of children or ofher unauthorized persons.

For starting and stopping the charger. -
Charging status
Displays charging status -
Display of charging parameters
Once you start the LCD display screen, charger will detect battery parameters automatically. L CD display screen will show parameters such as charging current, battery voltage, charging capacity and charging time during charging. Once charger stops charging or charging has been paused, it will display battery voltage, charging capacity and charging time of previous charge. -
Time display
RTC clock: Displays date and time -
Indicator lights
Complete: The light indicates that charging is complete. The charger will shut down once fully charged, and the charger can be removed from the mower.
Fault: The light indicates that the charger is faulty, and the faultis displayed on the screen
Communication: The light indicates that the battery management system (BMS) is communicating with the charger.
Work: The light indicates that the charger is in the charging mode.
Heating: The light indicates that the charger is in the heating charging mode. -
Setting area
Battery information: Displays battery maximum single voltage, minimum single voltage, battery temperature and percentage of battery capacity.
Module information: Displays the output voltage, output current and working code of each module.
Event log: Registers the time of events that occur during charging
Advanced settings: Displays troubleshooting Sets language, date and time.
Charging the Mower
71 Setting up the charger
WARNING
Read and follow the safety precautions on the battery and charger and the
warnings and instructions in this manual. To reduce the risk of short circuit,
which could lead to electric shock, fire and explosion, make sure the charger
and
its components are dry and not damaged; do not expose to rain, moisture or
damp conditions; operate the charger indoors or in an enclosed, dry area at an
appropriate ambient temperature.
This STIHLALB 8000 charger is only intended for use with RZA / AZA 5XX (or
higher) lithium-ion batteries.
- Insert the power cord (1) into a properly installed 240 V/ wall outlet
- Position the power cord (1) so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects or moving parts or otherwise be subjected to damage or stress.
7.2 Charging
WARNING
Before charging, read the instructions. Risk of electric shock — do not expose
to rain; do not touch uninsulated portion of output connector or uninsulated
battery terminal. Risk of explosive gas mixture — read important safety
instructions in user manual before charging
The battery in your STIHL RZA mower contains safety features and devices
which, if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat, rupture, leak,
ignite or explode. Never charge a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery or use a charger that has been damaged. Make sure the charger
and the battery to be charged are both completely dry before charging. Follow
all product-specific warnings and instructions accompanying your battery.

Press the lock button (1).
-
Connect charger gun (2) to the mower.
-
Flip the main power switch to the ON position. The LCD touch screen will power on and charging will start after a few second delay.
-
Once the battery is connected properly, the LCD display detects battery voltage:
-
Area of parameters display would show data such as battery voltage and charging current. The charging status indicator light will show the charging state
-
If the battery is not connected properly, after pressing the start stop button, the charger will detect battery status automatically. At this point, if battery voltage does not meet the startup requirement, LCD will display “Fault” and
the fault indicator will light up. -
On the basis of battery status, charger automatically controls the charging process, displays and records charging data once itis started normally. The whole charging process is completed according to the parameters set in advance.

When the *Fully charged” indicator lights up, the charger will shut off automatically and the battery is ready for use.
7.3 Stopping charging
- Press the lock button
- Pull out the charger gun from the mower.
- Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
Environmental Conditions
The charger should be stored and operated at the following temperatures in order to minimize the risk of damage to the charger.

Transporting
To properly transport the charger:
- Remove the charger gun from the mower.
- Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet.
- Wrap the power supply cord and attach it to the charger. DO NOT fold the cable to prevent cable break
- When transporting the charger in a vehicle, ensure that it is secured in a manner that prevents tumors, impact and damage:
Maintenance and Storage
10.1 General Maintenance
WARNING
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products,
penetrating oils, etc. come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can
damage, weaken or destroy plastic, which may increase the risk of serious
personal injury.
- Remove debris from the air vents using a vacuum cleaner. Keep the air vents free of obstructions such as saw dust and wood chips. Do not spray, wash or immerse the air vents in water.
- Wipe off the housing and the plastic components using a dry, soft cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents on the plastic housing or plastic components. Certain household cleaners may increase the risk of electric shock
10.2 Storage
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock and fire, store charger in an enclosed,
dry area. Keep away from moisture or damp environments.
To properly store the charger:
- Remove the charger gun from the mower.
- Disconnect the charger from the wall outlet.
- Wrap the power supply cord and attach it to the charger. DO NOT fold the cable to prevent damage to the cable.
- Store the charger indoors or in an enclosed, dry area Keep it out of the reach of children and other unauthorized persons.
- Do not store the charger in direct sunlight or in a hot environment. Maintain the recommended vstorage temperature -40°F to +158°F (-40°C to +70°C)
