INTENDED USE

The STREX Anti Barking Collar is a quick, easy and humane way to reduce excessive barking in dogs. This device teaches your dog to moderate his barking. There are no other uses for this product. Only use the Anti Barking Collar as described in this manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in personal injury or material damage. STREX is not liable for damage or injury resulting from improper or careless use.

UNPACKING

Remove everything from the packaging and check for damage. If this is the case, do not use or install the Anti Barking Collar. Be very careful when opening the package to avoid damage to the product. WARNING : PLASTIC BAGS.
To avoid the danger of suffocation, keep plastic bags and foils away from babies and children! Thin foils may cling to the nose and mouth and prevent breathing.

WARNING : BATTERY.
The Anti Barking Collar is delivered with the necessary 6V battery. Be careful when unpacking and/or installing this battery.

Keep new and used batteries away from children.
A swallowed battery can cause internal chemical burns in as little as two hours and lead to death.
If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
Dispose of used batteries immediately.

WARNING : SMALL PARTS.
Contains small parts not, for children under 3 years or any individuals who tend to place inedible objects in their mouths.
Small parts can be swallowed or lodged in the windpipe and create a choking hazard. As a general guide, a choking hazard is anything with small parts that are less than 31mm in diameter and 57mm long.

HOW DOES IT WORK

The Anti Bark Collar stops barking by progressively increasing the sound and vibration coming from the Anti Barking device unit. This feature is controlled by a smart-bark microprocessor, which is effective at distinguishing your dog’s barks from other dogs’ barks and environmental noises. It is automatically triggered to produce beeping and vibrations after each bark intelligently and systematically. The Anti Bark Collar has seven correction levels, each delivering different sound and vibration combinations based on the number of barks..

The device enters a 1-minute auto-protection mode after 7 times working continuously.

WARNING:
Do not put the collar on your dog without first testing the device.

USER INSTRUCTIONS

Installing the Battery

The STREX Anti Barking Collar starts working automatically once you have installed the included 6V battery. The collar will be automatically set to the 4th sensitivity level. If needed, you can press the “+” or “-“button to adjust the sensitivity level.

Steps to follow:

Loosen the strap a little bit from the device so that you can remove the battery cover.
Place the battery. Ensure that the battery is installed correctly concerning the polarity. Insert the battery between the “clip” (positive pole) and the “spring” (negative pole) contacts.
Close the battery cover.
Tighten the strap again around the device.

1 battery can be used for 1-2 weeks according to your dog’s barking frequency. If you hear a constant beeping, it means you need to replace the battery.

Mounting the Probes

You can remove and fix the probes with the mini spanner or your hand.

Manually Testing the Collar Before Use
Testing is done by blowing towards the small hole where the microphone is located. This simulates a dog’s bark. Steps to follow:

Take the collar in your hands facing the back side of the collar and gently blow a small puff of air towards the small hole located between the 2 vibration probes. You will hear a beep.
Blow again and you will hear the second beep.
Blow for the third time and you will hear a beep and feel a mild vibration (similar to the cell phone vibration).

You may continue to do this till the 7th correction level is reached (see the previous chapter HOW DOES IT WORK?). The red LED remains on while the device produces a beep sound.

Adjusting the Sensitivity
There are two BUTTONS “+” and “-“used to adjust the sensitivity level. As a default, the sensitivity level will be on the 4th level every time you install the battery.
By adjusting the buttons, the sensitivity will gradually be enhanced or weakened. The higher the sensitivity level is, the easier it is to trigger the collar.

Putting the Collar on Your Dog
Put the collar around your dog’s neck and adjust the length of the collar using the slide buckle arrangement. The collar should fit snugly underneath your dog’s neck. Make sure the probes are one finger width apart from the dog’s neck (stick your finger between the dog’s neck and the probes to check).

WARNING:
Ensure that no more than one finger can pass through.

CORRECT FIT : the collar is not moving and you can slide JUST ONE finger under the collar or strap.
INCORRECT FIT : The collar is moving and you can slide TWO fingers under the collar or strap. In this situation, the collar will go off randomly and is not working correctly when your dog is barking.

Make sure the vibration probes are in direct contact with your dog’s skin. Hair between the probes and skin will diminish the effect of the vibration. We advise clipping or shaving the dog’s fur under the neck to ensure direct contact.

CAUTION NOTES:

This product is not a substitute for responsible supervision of your dog.
Before putting the collar on your dog, make sure you screw the vibration probes on the vibration electrodes! Use the mini spanner to screw/unscrew them.
Do not allow your dog to chew this collar. You should also attempt to minimize scratching or clawing at the casing.
This device is made of plastic and electronic components that are not digestible. Consult your local vet if your dog swallows any parts of this product.
The collar is not intended to be used as a restraining collar. If you are using a leash, use it always with a separate restraining type of collar.
Check the contact area on your pet’s neck daily for signs of a rash or wounds. If you see a rash or sores, stop using the collar until the skin has healed. Consult your veterinarian if the condition persists for more than 48 hours.
Don’t use the collar if your pet is suffering from fleas or ear mites. Constant scratching from fleas or ear mites can, at times, cause the collar to react when it is not supposed to. If these activities are evident, have your pet checked by a veterinarian for parasites.
The collar should only be used on healthy dogs. If your dog is not completely healthy, we advise you to visit your veterinarian before using the collar.
The Anti Barking Collar is not intended for use on dogs under 6 months old and/or dogs weighing less than 3kg.
This product is not suitable for use with aggressive dogs. If you are not sure if this product is right for your dog, please consult a certified trainer or your veterinarian.
Although the Anti Barking Collar’s microprocessor is designed to differentiate your dog’s bark from stray environmental noises, the unit may occasionally be activated by other vibrations or sounds.
Do not leave the collar on your dog for more than 6-10 hours.
Do not leave the collar on your dog when they are sleeping, lying down, or unattended. If the collar is worn for too long or made too tight on the dog’s neck, it may cause skin irritation. This may range from redness to pressure ulcers. This condition is commonly known as bed sores or pressure necrosis.
If you think the strap is too long for your dog, you can cut some parts.
Many dogs bark while playing with people and other dogs. Turn off the device before letting the dog play.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Why does my dog’s collar just keep going off for no apparent reason?

The sensitivity level is probably just set too high. Lower the sensitivity level by pressing the minus “-” button and adjust until you reach the desired effect.
Check that the collar is on tight. Remember, tighten the collar so that you can only fit one finger inbetween the probes and the dog’s neck.

This may be because the dog is not yet used to wearing the collar. If this is an issue, it is best to train your dog to wear it in small time increments at a time until he feels more comfortable wearing it.

Why is the collar not producing any sound or vibration when my dog is barking?

Check that the battery is inserted correctly and that it still has power. If the battery still has juice, you may need to either increase the sensitivity level by pressing “+” to make it more sensitive to activate or tighten the collar as it might just be too loose.
Some dogs will bark less loudly, in which case you will need to increase the sensitivity level. Thick fur around the neck area can also be the cause of this problem.
If the collar only beeps but no longer vibrates, the battery is probably (too) empty. Replace the battery.

Why does the collar get activated when my dog is not barking?
The smart chip is designed to be sensitive to your dog’s barking, however, it may sometimes be triggered by other loud sounds. This is normal and will not affect your dog’s behavior.

Can I use the collar when other dogs are playing in the area
Dogs will bark when they are playing or getting excited, so for comfort and safety, we do not recommend using the collar in these types of environments.

Is my Anti Barking Collar safe and animal-friendly?
Yes, the Anti Barking Collar is designed to correct your dog and get his attention, not to punish him. This collar does not contain a shock device and only improves the dog with beeps and vibrations. Although the first strong vibration correction can startle your dog.

These safety instructions are intended to give you the information you need to use the STREX Anti Barking Collar and avoid such hazards.

General Device Safety

Do not use the Anti Barking Collar for any other purpose other than its intended use (see the chapter “INTENDED USE”).
The Anti Barking Collar can be used outdoors, it is rain resistant. Do not let your dog swim while he is wearing the collar.
Handle the device carefully. Jolts, impacts, or a fall even from a low height can damage the device.
Do not place the device under mechanical stress.
The Anti Barking Collar needs to be properly and securely mounted. Follow the instructions to prevent any possible injury.
Do not apply excessive force when using the buttons on the Anti Barking Collar.
If it is no longer possible to operate a device safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. A safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the device:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.

Persons & Use

The Anti Barking Collar is not a toy. Keep and store it out of the reach of small children.
The device may only be installed and adjusted by adults.

Electronics

You may not reconstruct, self-repair, or disassemble the Anti Barking Collar. This can damage the device.
Maintenance, modifications, and repairs may only be carried out by an expert or a qualified shop.
Check the device from time to time for damage. Never use the device if it shows signs of damage.
If there’s a smoke, fire, or a strange odor coming from your device, immediately turn off the device and remove it from your dog.

Heat & Cooling

The Anti Barking Collar is designed to work best in normal ambient temperatures between 0°C and 35°C and to be stored at temperatures between 0° and 45°C. The Anti Barking Collar may be damaged and the battery life may be shortened if the device is stored or used outside this temperature range. Do not subject your device to dramatic changes in temperature. Do not store your device in a hot car or direct sunlight for extended periods.
Use the device only in a moderate climate (not in a tropical climate).

Water
The Anti Barking Collar is rainproof. You can walk your pet in rain and wet weather and be sure that the device will work.

Do not immerse the Anti Barking Collar in liquid.
Do not let your dog swim with the Anti Barking Collar.

Battery Safety

Do not place the Anti Barking Collar near a fire, or in direct sunlight. The heating of the device can cause additional heating, breaking, or ignition of the battery.
Do not attempt to charge the battery. This battery is not suitable for this.
Do not attempt to modify or disassemble your battery.
Do not use your Anti Barking Collar if the battery begins to emit odor, overheats, or begins to leak.
Do not touch any leaking materials or breathe fumes emitted from the battery. A leaking or damaged battery can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
The battery contains dangerous substances, do not open the battery or insert anything into the exposed battery.
Do not allow children and animals to touch an exposed battery.
Never throw the battery into a fire.
Do not short circuit the battery. The battery can explode or leak if shorted.
A flat battery can still be dangerous.
Do not swallow the battery. Immediately seek medical advice if the battery is swallowed.
Clean the battery contacts and also those of the Anti Barking Collar before battery installation.
Ensure the battery is installed correctly concerning polarity (+ and -).
Examine the device and make sure the battery compartment is correctly closed and secured.
Only replace the battery with the same size and the same type of battery.
Use the battery within the recommended usage period.
Keep the battery away from children, babies, or animals.

CLEANING

Wash your dog’s neck, electrodes, and vibration probes weekly with a damp cloth.
A slightly moist or dry cloth is recommended for cleaning the exterior of the device. Dry with a soft cloth.
Be careful not to put too much pressure on the buttons of the device while cleaning.
Do not immerse the device in water or any other liquids. It is not allowed to rinse the device with water, to prevent the water from leaking into the electrical circuit and causing malfunctions.
Under no circumstances use aggressive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol, or other chemical solutions since these can penetrate the housing or impair functionality.
Do not use a wire brush, steel wool, or other abrasive objects for cleaning.
Cleaning must not be performed by children.

MAINTENANCE & SERVICE

The Anti Barking Collar does not require any maintenance.
You may not reconstruct, self-repair, or disassemble the Anti Barking Collar.
Check regularly for damage and severe wear.

WARNINGS:

Do not attempt to open the Anti Barking Collar for maintenance. Removing the housing or improper reassembly may cause damage, short circuit, or fire.
If for any reason you open the housing, the warranty will become null and void. The Anti Barking Collar contains no user-serviceable parts. Only the battery can be replaced.
To obtain maintenance or service, please contact us first at our email address info@strex.nl. Repairs should only be carried out by an expert or a qualified shop.

STORAGE & TRANSPORT

We advise cleaning the Anti Barking Collar before long-time storage.
Store the device in a place not exposed to sunlight & humidity, which is dust-free.
Do not store the Anti Barking Collar in extremely high or extremely low temperatures. This can damage the device.
Store the device beyond the reach of small children.
Remove the battery from the Anti Barking Collar before long-time storage.

DISPOSAL & RECYCLING

Device Disposal
This product complies with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE).
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its life, the product must be disposed of separately from normal household waste and taken to a separate collection center for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment or returned to the seller at the time a new similar device is purchased. The user is responsible for taking the device to a waste collection service at the end of its service life. Correct separate collection of waste with a view to subsequent recycling, processing, and environmentally friendly disposal of the device helps to prevent possible negative impacts on the environment and health and promotes the recycling of the materials of which the product is composed. The unlawful disposal of the product by the user results in administrative sanctions laid down by law. For more detailed information on the recycling of this product and the collection systems available, please contact your local waste disposal service or the shop where you purchased the product. Comply with your legal obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.

Battery Disposal
This device contains a battery that cannot be disposed of with normal household waste. The battery should be recycled following your local regulations. Remove the battery from the Anti Barking Collar before disposal. As an end consumer, you are legally obliged to hand in all empty batteries following KCA regulations (small chemical waste).

Packing Material Disposal
Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc. are properly disposed of. Do not just dispose of these materials with your normal household waste, but make sure they are collected for recycling. Please follow the notes and markings on the packaging.

WARRANTY & LIABILITY

STREX guarantees that for one year from the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. STREX, at its discretion, will replace or repair this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or refurbished product or component. If the product is no longer available, a replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty. Your replacement unit will be returned to you for no charge and will be covered under this warranty for the balance of the warranty period. Shipping charges are not included in the warranty; the buyer is responsible for shipping charges and after-sales service charges. Please pack the package carefully if you want to return the product or require service, the buyer is responsible for any damage or loss in transit. This warranty is valid for the original purchaser from the date of initial purchase and is not transferrable. Proof of purchase is required to obtain support under the warranty. This warranty does not cover:

negligent use or misuse of the product;
use with incorrect voltage or current;
use contrary to the operating instructions;
disassembly, repair, or modification by anyone other than STREX;
damage caused by accidents or disasters, such as fire, flood, earthquake, war, vandalism, or theft;
accessories such as batteries;
normal wear and tear.
