Thank you for choosing the LIFTO 25 Motorized elevation column manufactured by
CARTONI. The LIFTO 25 has been designed and built using the state-of-art
technologies and procedures in order to guarantee maximum reliability over
time, as well as total safety for its users.

read this manual and follow the instructions.

IntroductIon
The correct and safe use of the LIFTO 25 is only guaranteed if it is used in
accordance with the following manual and other documentation that accompanies
the LIFTO 25. It is therefore essential to read all the documentation
carefully and to keep it in a safe place.
It is necessary to always make sure that all the operators have completely
read and understood the instructions.
CARTONI accepts no responsibility for damage to persons and/or property
consequence to the improper use of the LIFTO 25.
Do not remove or deface any label, indication and warning affixed to the LIFTO
25. CARTONI declines all responsibility for the failure to observe the
standards of safety and prevention detailed in the various sections of this
manual and for injuries caused due to mproper use. Any modification to the
LIFTO 25 must have prior authorization by CARTONI.
All the standard maintenance operations (maintenance, repairs, cleaning and
adjustments) should be carried out by competent personnel as prescribed in the
manual.
1.1 Warranty
The LIFTO 25 is covered by a warranty against manufacturing defects for 2
years from the date of shipment.
The warranty covers replacement of any defective part and the labor required
excluding transport/duty costs.
In the case of replacement of single parts, these can be supplied free of
charge by CARTONI, but the owner will bear the cost of transport/duty charges
for the parts.
The warranty is only valid if the support has been used properly as outlined
in the manufacturer’s instructions and has not been exposed to any
mishandling. The warranty will be immediately invalid if modifications and/or
repairs are carried out by unauthorized persons otherwise authorized by
CARTONI.
Components subject to wear and tear are not covered by warranty.
The warranty is also invalidated by one of the following events:
- Failure to comply with payment conditions
- Failure to carry out appropriate maintenance
- Removal or mistreatment of marks and/or labels containing data and technical specification.
CARTONI accepts no responsibility for damage to the LIFTO 25 caused by
improper use or the malfunction of other equipment connected to the Camera
support.
In any case, the warranty only covers damage and/or malfunctions and does not
entitle the purchaser/owner to claim any damages for loss of production time
due to assumed or proven damage caused by and/or connected to the LIFTO 25
itself.
1.2 authorIzed personnel
Extraordinary maintenance and repairs to the LIFTO 25 can only be carried out
by competent persons who are either employed, trained or authorized by CARTONI
in writing.
Any information regarding repair/maintenance service stations can be obtained
from CARTONI.
1.3 devIce IdentIfIcatIon and ce plate
The LIFTO 25 can be identified by the plate placed on the motorized elevation
unit, below the tripod base. The serial number is engraved on the tripod base
itself.
The CE plate must be kept intact and visible as it contains the main information regarding the marking of the machine, namely:
- Company name and address of the manufacturer (a);
- CE mark (b);
- Identification of the machine – commercial name (c);
- Year of construction (d)
“A machine is an assembly equipped with an actuation system other than direct human or animal force, composed of parts or components, at least one of which is mobile, solidly connected to each other for a specific application; therefore a case of “machine” is configured, as defined in Article 2, letter a) first indent, of Directive 2006/42/EC”, which is therefore certified with the EC Declaration of Conformity pursuant to Annex II, part 1 section A., by the manufacturer CARTONI S.P.A.

Optional control software dongle & control Module
To bring the LIFTO 25 to the next professional stage for automation, CARTONI
created a customized control system communicating via Ethernet.
It acts through the Ethernet wiring existing in the Studio.
The control software Dongle – includes a specific user manual – and easily
loads to any computer with windows OS, connecting LIFTO 25 to the PTZ
automation system with no distance limitation.
The control software Dongle is compatible with most of the high-end PTZ from
Panasonic, Canon, Sony, etc. Operations can be performed by the PTZ controller
(Panasonic, Skaarhoj, etc.) itself or conveyed to a footswitch or any game pad
via USB to remotely control up to 5 PTZ & 5 LIFTO 25 simultaneously! The
control software is compatible with the dedicated LIFTO 25 Control Module
APTZ007 that permits to operate different speeds in elevation, up to 5 LIFTO
25 units.
The Control Module is also capable of memorizing positions, starts, stops &
repeat movements on demand or in loop.
It is compatible with most of the high-end PTZ from Panasonic, Canon and Sony,
and interfaces with the main PTZ controller (Panasonic, Skaarhoj).
Optional Accessories
Installation and settings
Prior to installation, please check the state of packaging for its integrity on arrival, and also make sure that none of the components show signs of impact. If any such damage occurs CARTONI should be informed immediately. If the product is to be forwarded elsewhere, it should be carefully paked and the greatest care should be taken not to damage any of the components.
7.1 Setting the LIFTO 25
Please set the LIFTO 25 Tripod as follows.
Release the spreader knob (4) and completely spread the pedestal; then lock in
place with the same knob (4).
Connect the motor cable to the power supply (19), using the first port
available:
if only one LIFTO 25 is being connected to the power supply (19), choose the
port “1” (22).
Connect the wired input device (25) to the power supply (19), via the RJ45
port labeled “A1” (24) or “A2” (23).
An extension cord, 2 m long, for the motor cable is provided in the kit, if
needed. The input device cable can be extended as well, using the provided
RJ45 coupler and a standard Ethernet cable (not included). Extensions
exceeding 50 mt (164 Ft) are not advisable.
Finally, connect the power supply (19) to a AC plug via the AC port (18),
using the provided cable.
! The power supply can handle up to four LIFTO 25 at the same time. Please be
advised that all the motorized elevation units (7) connected to the same power
supply (19), will move simultaneously and not independently one from the each
others.
In case you need to connect more than one LIFTO 25 to the same power supply
unit (19), please proceed following the increase numbering of the motorized
elevation unit output ports.
To set the tripod height release the spreader knob (4) and then loose the
three leg clamp lever (2). Lift the tripod pulling up the tripod base (6) till
the desired height, then lock in place the three extendable legs (13) with the
three leg clamp levers (2). Adjust the opening angle of the legs (13) and
tighten the spreader knob (4). Finally, if needed, adjust the extension of the
spreader acting on the adjusting botton (5).
Set the horizontal postion of the tripod base (6) trimming the length of each
leg conveniently, loosing and then tightening the leg clamp lever (2). Check
the bubble level embedded (12).
7.2 Mounting the ptz camera
Mount the quick release camera plate (1) on the PTZ camera tightening the
appropriate screw (1/4” and 3/8” screws provided). Please pay attentiont to
properly align the arrow pointing toward the camera front.
If the PTZ camera does not have the mounting holes aligned with the optical
axis, please use the accessory APTZ003 (not included). Slide in the camera
plate (1) into the plate support (9) up to centering the PTZ camera on the
LIFTO 25, then tighten the knob (10) to avoid undesired camera movement.
Secure the PTZ camera connecting the camera safety leash, if any, to prevent
accidental fall-off. Finally, wrap all the cables (motor cable, PTZ power
cord, PTZ control cable, etc.) using the provided self-winding sock.
Secure the wrapped up cables to the safety ring (8), using the provided
strain-relief strap, to prevent cables and connectors accidental damage. The
LIFTO 25 has been designed to support up to three PTZ cameras at the same
time, using the optional accessory TZ T-Bar (APTZ001, not included).
For further information about the use of the PTZ T-Bar please refer to the
section 6.4 “Optional accessories”.

7.3 operating the LIFTO 25
At the first switch on, push and hold the DOWN button (27) to reach and set
the lowest position.
During normal operation, adjust the height of the motorized elevation column
(7) using the wired input device (25), acting on the buttons UP (26) or DOWN
(27).
Three differerent positions can be stored. To store the current position press
the “s” button (31) and then the desired memory button: “1” (28),”2” (29) or
“3” (30). To recall a position press and hold the corresponding button: “1”
(28),”2” (29) or “3” (30).
Each time a new position is stored the previous one, if existing, is
overwritten.
7.4 use of optional accessories
7.4.1 ptz t-bar (aptz001)
The PTZ T-Bar has been designed to use up to three (Depending on size/ or
weight) at the same time. This smart and convenient device, is made by a main
frame member on which three camera interface can slide back and forth to
adjust the camera position.
To install the PTZ T-Bar couple the quick release camera plate with the
central sliding interface, then slide in the camera plate (1) into the plate
support (9) up to centering the PTZ T-Bar on the LIFTO 25, then tighten the
knob (10). ! Items whose center of gravity
(CG) is too close to the opened LIFTO 25 base triangle (PTZ T-Bar,
Teleprompters, ecc.) could cause the LIFTO 25 to tip over; use additional
precaution to avoid accidents.
7.4.2 lIghtWeight dolly (d833)
Assembling
The LIFTO 25 has been designed to be compatible with the CARTONI Lightweight
Dolly (D833), to in order to conveniently move the LIFTO 25 around the studio
or set. To mount the LIFTO 25 on the dolly proceed as follows.
Firstly, remove the three orientable feet (15) disengaging the rubber band
(14) for each foot. Then, remove each foot (15) tipping it around its
spherical seat until snapping out the foot itself.
Completely open the dolly and place it on an even surface, engaging the brake
of each wheel so that the dolly cannot move during the LIFTO 25 installation.
Release the spreader knob (4).
Place the spherical seat of one leg (13) on the corresponding sphere of the
dolly and snap-in.
Extend as much as needed the spreader arm of the leg pushing the adjusting
button (5) and extend the spreader arm of a second leg (13), also. Couple the
second leg (13) seat on the corresponding sphere of the dolly and snap-in it,
too.
Subsequently, extend by the necessary amount the spreader arm of the third leg
pushing the adjusting button (5), place the third leg (13) seat on the
corresponding sphere of the dolly and snap in the leg.
Afterwards, secure all the three legs (13) using the rubber restrain bands of
the dolly itself.
Set the desired tripod height acting on the clamping levers (2) and finally
tighten the spreader knob (4).
Disassembling
To remove the LIFTO 25 from the dolly proceed as follows.
First, engage the brake on each wheel and retract the motorized elevation
column (7) to its lowest position.
Remove any payload or accessory placed on the LIFTO 25.
Lower the tripod to its minimum height position, acting on the clamping lever
(2) of each leg (13). Disengage the restraining rubber band (14), for all the
three rubber feet (16).
Uncouple one leg (13) from the spherical joint on the dolly, the slightly tilt
aside the LIFTO 25, as shown in the following figure: the other two sphere
will automatically pop-out from the corresponding spherical seat.
Release the spreader knob (4) and completely fold the tripod, then tighten the
knob (4) again.
Finally, fold the dolly. 7.4.3 D-tap cable for v-Mount batteries
The LIFTO 25 can be operated using batteries as well. To this specific
purpose, a dedicated accessory has been conceived in order to use two
14Vbatteries with the D-Tap cable for V-Mount batteries (APTZ0005).
! Never connect batteries and AC plug to the power supply unit at the same
time.
Connect each battery to one D-Tap connector of the cable and then connect the
2-pins Molex connector to one of the to DC ports (16) of the power supply unit
(19). It is strictly forbidden to connect batteries and AC plug to the power
supply unit at the same time. The power supply unit sports two DC ports and
the hot swap between batteries is possible in order to not interrupt the
operation. Nevertheless, connect two D-Tap cables at the same time only for
the time strictly necessary.
7.4.4 Bluetooth remote control
The operation of the motorized elevation unit (7) of the LIFTO 25 can be
controlled via an optional Bluetooth remote control.
Insert the receiver in one of the two control device input ports “A1” or “A2”
(23 or 24, respectively) of the power supply unit (19).
Press both transmitter buttons simultaneously to pair the transmitter with the
receiver.
The Bluetooth remote control is now ready and you can move the LIFTO 25 using
the two buttons analogously to what you can do the the UP (26) and DOWN (27)
button of the wired input device (22). No storable positions are available in
this case.
Safety precautions
! The LIFTO 25 has been designed to respect ergonomic principles to allow
operators to use it without any physical exertion. This includes working
conditions with minimum strain, movements, frequency of routines to avoid any
physical and psychological discomfort.
! The operators must take the utmost care to avoid any action that might
endanger themselves, their machine or others.
! Items whose center of gravity (CG) is too close to the opened LIFTO 25 base
triangle (PTZ T-Bar, Teleprompters, ecc.) could cause the LIFTO 25 to tip
over; use additional precaution to avoid accidents.
Disassembling and storage
! Before disassembling and folding the LIFTO 25 ensure that the load has been
removed.
To disassemble the LIFTO 25 please proceed as follows.
Retract the motorized elevation unit (7) to its lowest position, pushing the
DOWN button (27) on the provided control device (25).
Remove the PTZ camera loosing the knob (10), then push the quick release
safety button (11) and slip the camera plate (1) till completely disengage the
camera plate from the motorized column.
Remove the quick release camera plate (1) from the PTZ camera loosing the 1/4”
(or 3/8”) screw. Insert again the camera plate on the LIFTO 25, paying
attentiont to properly align the arrow, and tight the knob (10).
Disconnect the motor cable from the motorized elevation unit (7), and insert
the connector inside the safety ring (8), in order to protect the connector
itself during trasportation and storage.
Disconnect the motor cable, the input device (25) and the power supply cable
from the power supply unit (19) and carefully put away all the wirings and the
electronic devices in the provided cable bag.
If previously extended, retract the multi-level spreader (3) to its shrinked
position, release the spreader knob (4) and fold the tripod to its folded
position. Then, tight again the spreader knob (4).
Release the three leg clamping levers (2), lower the tripod pulling down the
flat upper base (6), then lock in place the three extendable legs (13) with
the three leg clamping levers (2).
Service
The LIFTO 25 has been designed and built in a way to reduce as much as
possible any maintenance, and to ensure to be problem-free over time.
After any maintenance operation, the LIFTO 25 must be tested to ensure that it
is working properly.
10.1 Routine Maintenance
The LIFTO 25 components should be carefully periodically inspected and any
damaged part immediately replaced to prevent failures that might compromise
the safety of the LIFTO 25.
10.2 Extra Maintenance and spare parts
Whatever extra maintenance requires to be carried out by CARTONI’s own
techical servicing staff or an authorized service station appointed by
CARTONI.
Information on authorized service station staff can be obtained by contacting
CARTONI or www.cartoni.com. For fast, effective
problem solving CARTONI should be informed of the Tripod model and the nature
of the defect or its visible symptoms when the problem arises.
! All maintenance on the LIFTO 25 must be carried out by competent and
instructed personnel on the operative and safety methods of the Tripod; all
warranty conditions are invalidated should any repair operation be attempted
by anyone not authorized by CARTONI.
All spare parts should be ordered from CARTONI which will either supply them
directly or indicate where they may be obtained. Remember that repairs should
only be carried by persons employed or authorized by CARTONI.
All warranty conditions are invalidated should any parts be different from
those originally mounted on the LIFTO 25.
10.3 Decommissioning
In case the LIFTO 25 becomes beyond repair it should be placed out of
service or at least clearly labeled as “out of order”.
Since the LIFTO 25 is largely made of steel and aluminum, most of its
materials can be recycled.
Once a LIFTO 25 is decommissioned, it is advisable to separate its various
materials for differentiated utilization or disposal, according the national
regulations.
Since none of the materials used on the LIFTO 25 are toxic or may cause a risk
to the health of its operators, they can be handled without the need for any
special precautions.
! The dismantling of the LIFTO 25 at the end of its life must be carried out
by competent and trained personnel.
