CARTONI MAXIMA 30V

Introduction

MAXIMA 30 is the ultimate innovation in CARTONI Fluid Heads designed for today’s Digital Cinematography.

The fluid movements in both Pan & Tilt are exceptionally smooth with that progression going from almost freewheeling to an extremely consistent maximum drag, the starts and stops are extraordinarily precise.

The famed “wing” counterbalance will assists any Camera payload from 3 kg (6.6 lbs) to 30 kg (66 lbs) with a perfect response throughout the entire
+/- 90 ° range and can reach up to 40 kg (88 lbs) at 100mm CG. The MAXIMA 30 includes all the advantages of the famed CARTONI
MAXIMA Fluid Head but in a more compact size at a reduced weight of 10,5 kg (23 lbs).

For ease of use a digital read out indicates counterbalance, Pan & Tilt fluid settings at a glance and the bubble level is illuminated. To make the MAXIMA 30 completely user friendly, the Pan & Tilt brakes are conveniently placed on the left side of the head as the Camera plate latch, which can
be activated with one hand both to disengage the new safety lock and free the Camera plate completely.

The Camera plate stage accepts all industry standard plates as ARRI, RED, etc. with a sliding run of 140mm clearly referenced by a scale; It also
features 4 rosettes attachment for Pan bars and the standard configuration comes with right telescopic pan bar and a left front pan handle. Front box attachment and eyepiece extension holders are optional.

Before using the MAXIMA 30 Fluid Head, please make sure to read this user’s & maintenance manual

Procedures

Open the Tripod to the desired height and lock all safety knobs.

Place the MAXIMA 30 Fluid Head on the Tripod base and rotate until it matches the steel notch; tighten the Head firmly by screwing in the knob (5) underneath the flat base. Check the illuminated bubble level (16) and modify the legs angle if needed. In case of low visibility, press button (17) for illuminated bubble level and to activate the digital displays. Lights will turn off automatically after approximately 30 seconds.

Lock the horizontal position with button (15), insert pan lock (11) and
turn both tilt drag selector (4) and counterbalance selector (20) to position “0”. To release the Camera plate (8) push the red safety button (10) and open the slide lock lever (14) completely till to position 2, then remove the Camera plate.

Attach the Camera plate under the Camera assembly and firmly secure it with both screws. Try to place the Camera plate centered under the Camera system, keeping in mind the position of the center of gravity (CG).

Place the Camera on the top of the MAXIMA 30, leaning sidewards against the left side of the Head (slide lock side), then push the assembly into horizontal position until you feel the click of the slide lock lever (14), which will be in position 1 (at this point the Camera plate is clamped but still moving fore-and-aft)

Holding the pan bar (1) firmly, disengage horizontal lock with button
(19) and find the correct center of gravity (CG) sliding the Camera assembly fore and-aft. Lock the slide lock lever (14) in position “0”.

Set the counterbalance system by turning the counterbalance selector (20) to the appropriate tension. The Camera has to stay still at any tilt angle. If needed, fine tune the balance by adjusting the sliding plate.

Push button (17) to activate illuminated digital displays, unlock Pan lock (11) and select the desired Fluid drag intensity on both Pan and Tilt by turning Pan selector (12) and Tilt selector (4).
