It is recommended that foods are tightly closed (in a container or plastic bag) before placing them into the refrigerator. Shelves can be moved by the amount of space inside the refrigerator to optimally organize space. The freezer is used for long storage of food (up to 6 months). For additional information about possible storage duration, check the packaging of the product or food. Never freeze again already thawed food.

Tips for Keeping Food in the Unit

  • Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the refrigerator, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food. Cooked meats/fish should always be stored on a shelf above raw meats/fish to avoid bacterial transfer. Keep raw meats/fish in a container
that is large enough to collect juices and cover them properly. Place the container on the lowest shelf.

  • Leave space around your food, to allow air to circulate inside the unit. Ensure all parts of the unit are kept cool.

  • To prevent transfer of favors and drying out, pack or cover the food separately. Fruit and vegetables do not need to be wrapped.

  • Always let pre-cooked food cool down before you put it in the unit. This will help to maintain the internal temperature of the unit.

  • To avoid contamination of the food, please respect the following instructions:

    • Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase in the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.
    • Clean regular surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems.
    • Clean water tanks if they have not been used for 48 hours; flush the water system connected to a water supply if water has not been drawn for 5 days.
    • To prevent cold air from escaping from the unit, try to limit the number of times you open the door. We recommend that you only open the door when you need to put food in and take food out.
    • In case your device has a freezing compartment with 4 stars, this refrigerating appliance is suitable for freezing foodstuffs
    • In case your device has a freezing compartment with 1, 2, or 3 stars, this refrigerating appliance is NOT suitable for freezing foodstuffs.
    • Two-star * frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice cream, and making ice cubes.
    • One-, two- and three-star * compartments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.

VIVAX-CFR-143-Freezer-FIG- \(13\)

  • Connect the freezer to the power supply, and the indicator “POWER” will light on.
  • After powering on the “POWER,” the indicator light will be light (green).
  • The area where the temperature controller knob points to “COOLING” is the refrigeration area, and “FREEZING” is the frozen area;
  • When the temperature controller the knob is turned clockwise, the temperature inside the freezer decreases;
  • When the temperature controller the knob is turned counterclockwise, the temperature inside the freezer increases;
  • Please refer to the schematic diagram to identify the “recommended gear”.

WARNING: In the lowest Thermostat position, although the freezer is not cooling, it does not mean that the device is disconnected from the power supply. For cleaning and maintenance, to disconnect the power supply pull the power plug out of the socket!

Noise Inside the Unit!
You may notice that your unit makes some unusual noises. Most of these are perfectly normal, but you should be aware of them! These noises are caused by the circulation of the refrigerant liquid in the cooling system. It has become more pronounced since the introduction of CFC-free gases. This is not a fault and will not affect the performance of your unit. This is the compressor motor working, as it pumps the refrigerant around the system.

Change the Light Bulb (if exists)
The LED lamp must be replaced by an authorized service. Please contact the authorized service or manufacturer.

Maintenance

Cleaning
Please unplug the Freezer for defrosting and cleaning. Dusts behind the freezer and on the ground shall be timely cleaned to improve the cooling effect and energy saving. The interior of the freezer should be cleaned regularly to avoid odor. Soft towels or sponges dipped in water and non- corrosive neutral detergents are suggested for cleaning. The freezer shall be finally cleaned with clean water and a dry cloth. Open the door for natural drying before the power is turned on.

  • Remove all the shelves.
  • Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of bicarbonate soda and then rinse with warm water using a “wrung-out” sponge or cloth. Wipe completely dry before replacing the shelves and salad bin.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior, and then wipe with a standard furniture polish.
  • Make sure that the door is closed to avoid the polish getting on the magnetic door seal or inside the unit.
  • The grille of the condenser (if exists) at the back of the unit and the adjacent components can be vacuumed using a soft brush attachment.

Cleaning Tips
Condensation may appear on the outside of the unit. This may be due to a change in room temperature. Wipe off any moisture residue. In the summer months, with high temperatures and humidity in the air, a certain amount of ice can accumulate along the inner edges of the freezer. This is a normal phenomenon. In such conditions, do not open the freezer door unless necessary, and remove the excessive amount of ice.

If the problem continues, please contact a qualified technician for assistance. Do not use hard brushes, clean steel balls, wire brushes, abrasives, such as toothpaste, organic solvents (such as alcohol, acetone, banana oil, etc.), boiling water, acid, or alkaline items clean refrigerator considering that this may damage the fridge surface and interior. Do not rinse with water so as not to affect the electrical insulation properties. Please use a dry cloth when cleaning lighting lamps, temperature control knobs, and electrical components.

Defrost
Defrost the freezing compartment whenever the layer of frost on the surface of the evaporator reaches 3 or 4 mm.

  1. Set the thermostat to the “OFF” position and disconnect the freezer from the main supply.
  2. Remove drawers with frozen food, Store frozen food in a cold place.
  3. Open the outflow holes and drainage holes; indoor doors will naturally melt.
  4. Wipe the water with a dry, soft cloth.
  5. You can use ice scraper to remove frosting/ice
  6. After the frost has melted, discard the melted water and clean the interior.
  7. Dry up the interior.
  8. Put the drawer-basket into the compartment and put back frozen foods.
  9. Plug in the freezer on the main supply and turn the thermostat to the desired setting.
  10. It is recommended that you use frozen food as soon as possible
  11. Do not use metal utensils or an electric heater for defrosting so as not to damage the appliance. Please remove the food and put it in a cool place when defrosting before removing drawers and other accessories.

Switching Off for Long Periods of Time
Foods can be preserved for a couple of hours even in summer in case of power failure; it is recommended to reduce the frequency of opening doors and not putting fresh foods into the freezer. When the unit is not in use for a long period, disconnect it from the main supply, empty all food, and clean the appliance. Keep the door open to avoid the bad odor. Continuous operation is recommended when the freezer is started. Please do not move the freezer under normal circumstances so as not to affect the refrigerator’s service life.

Warm tips

  • The freezer enclosure may emit heat during operation, especially in summer, this is caused by the radiation of the condenser, and it is a normal phenomenon.
  • Condensation: The condensation phenomenon will be detected on the exterior surface and door seals of the freezer when the ambient humidity is large, this is a normal phenomenon, and the condensation can be wiped away with a dry towel.
  • Airflow sound: Refrigerants circulating in the refrigerant lines will produce an eruption of sound and grunts which is normal and does not affect the cooling effect.
  • Buzz: Buzz will be generated by running compressor especially when starting up or shutting down.
  • Clatter: The solenoid valve or electric switch valve will clatter which is a normal phenomenon and does not affect the operation.
  • Due to the humid and warm environment, ice may accumulate at the edges of t freezer compartment. It’s normal. If necessary, remove the accumulated ice or defrost according to the instructions. During such weather conditions, avoid opening the door frequently.

Tips for Energy savings
Try not to open the door too often, especially when the weather is wet and hot. Once you open the door, close it as soon as possible. Now and then check if the appliance is sufficiently ventilated (adequate air circulation behind the appliance).

In normal temperature conditions, please arrange the thermostat in the middle setting. Before loading the appliance with packages of fresh food, make sure they are cooled to ambient temperature. Ice and frost layers increase energy consumption, so clean the appliance as soon as the layer is 3-5 mm thick. If it is the outer condenser, the rear wall should be always clean and free of dust or any impurities.

  • The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing appliances or heating ducts, and out of direct sunlight.
  • Let hot foods cool to room temperature before placing them in the appliance.
  • Overloading the appliance forces the compressor to run longer.
  • Foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality, or spoil.
  • Be sure to wrap foods properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them in the appliance. This cuts down on frost build-up inside the appliance.
  • The appliance storage bin should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper, or paper towel. Liners interfere with cold air circulation, making the appliance less efficient.
  • Organize and label food to reduce door openings and extended searches.
  • Remove as many items as needed at one time, and close the door as soon as possible.
