Features

Grill plates

The appliance is equipped with two reversible grill plates. Each of them has two differently usable grilling surfaces:

  • ribbed grill area for a typical grill pattern.
  • flu at Teppanyaki surface – perfect for vegetables, fi sh, seafood, desserts, etc.
Note: Only turn/insert grill plates when they have cooled down!

ATTENTION Hazard of fi re! Especially the grilling surface facing the heating elements that is not used for grilling must be dry and free of grease!

Low-fat grilling
The grill plates have a fat drain aligned to the centre of the appliance, which allows excessive fat to drain away. Thus, food can be prepared in a lowfat and healthy way. Below the fat outlet there is a removable drip pan which collects the drained fat.
Note: Never operate the appliance without inserted drip pan.

Splash guard/wind shield
The appliance has a detachable splash guard/wind shield. On the one hand, the splash guard/wind shield prevents the surrounding area from getting soiled by fat splatters; on the other hand it protects the grilling surface against unnecessary cooling by wind.
Note: Do not touch the splash guard/wind shield when hot!

Control panel

Temperature regulator

The temperature can be regulated continuously.
Both grilling areas can be regulated separately.
Range between 1 – 3: Low heat for keeping warm/warming up
Range between 3 – 4: medium heat for cooking
Range between 4 – 6: high heat for searing, quick cooking and browning

  • By turning the temperature regulator clockwise, the temperature is increased.
  • By turning the temperature regulator anti-clockwise, the temperature is decreased. Pilot lamps

The appliance is equipped with two pilot lamps:
Red light: The appliance is switched on and the grilling area is ready for operation.
Green light: The target temperature of the grilling area has been reached.
Green light expires: The grilling area is heating up.

Attaching or detaching the splash guard/wind shield

  • To attach the splash guard/wind shield, place it at a slight angle on the side fixing points and then fold it backwards.
  • Press the splash guard/wind shield backwards so that it sits firmly in the casing.
  • To remove, lift the splash guard/wind shield upwards out of casing, tilt it slightly and then pull it out of the fixing points.
Note: Do not attach or remove the splash guard/ wind shield when it is hot!

Attaching and detaching the grill plates

**** In order to ensure a safe operation, it is important that the grill plates are correctly placed on the base casing and the electrical connections are absolutely dry and clean (free of grease).

  • Before placing the grill plate on the appliance, make sure that it is disconnected from the mains.

  • Place the grill plates on the appliance at a slight angle so that the drainage openings point towards the center of the appliance.

  • Slide the fl at edge of the grill plates under the metal hooks in the middle of the base unit and let the plates click into place by applying slight pressure.

  • After inserting the grill plates, push them together as far as possible so that the gap between the grill plates is narrow. This ensures the best possible fi xation of the grill plates.
Attention: Never remove and turn the grill plates if the appliance has already been in operation and the grill plates have heated up!

  • To remove, press the release button on the side and lift the grill plates upwards.
Note: Before detaching the grill plates let them cool down!

  • Otherwise, check the circuit breaker or the fuses in your electrical installation.

The appliance emits smoke when initially used.|

  • It is normal for the appliance to emit smoke when it is initially used. Clean the plates with a damp cloth before using the appliance.

The food is not brow- need and cooking is difficult.|

  • The selected cooking mode and/or temperature are not suitable for your food. Readjust the selected mode and temperature.•   The plates are not positioned correctly. Refer to the section “Inserting or removing grill plates” to find out how to insert the plates correctly.

A lot of smoker is proud- cede when grilling.|

  • Your food is too greased. Grease makes it easier for smoke to develop. Grease the grill plates less or not at all.

Grilling tips

Note: Grilling times and temperature settings are very dependent on the food being grilled, its thickness and, above all, your own taste; recommended settings should therefore only be regarded as guidelines!

  • Season and salt meat and vegetables only after grilling to minimise the risk of drying out.
  • Sausages should be pricked before grilling to prevent them from bursting.
  • If possible, place the food on the grill when it is not ice cold anymore. It will then cook faster and more evenly.
  • Defrost frozen food completely before grilling.
  • Dry food (chicken fillets, minute steaks, children’s sausages, etc.) benefits from being brushed with frying oil before grilling: This optimises the heat transfer from the grill plates and also reduces the risk of drying out.
  • Always use frying oil that is resistant to high temperatures; safflower and peanut oil, refined sunflower oil and soya oil are all very suitable.

Cleaning and maintenance

CAUTION: Hazard of injury!

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning!
  • Never immerse the base unit and the plug in water nor clean them under running water!

CAUTION: Hazard of injury and burns!

  • Before cleaning the grill plate, splash guard/wind shield, drip pan or other parts, let the complete appliance cool down!
  • Always pull the power plug before cleaning!
  • Cleaning of the grill plates:
    • Remove the grill plates from the grill.
    • Remove coarse soiling with a cleaning scraper (made of plastic or wood).
    • Afterwards, use a soft brush and some dishwashing detergent for cleaning and rinse with clear water.
    • Soak stubborn residues on the grill plate with warm water with dishwashing detergent.
    • Wipe dry thoroughly after cleaning.

Note: The grill plates can occasionally be cleaned in the dishwasher. However, we recommend cleaning them by hand to protect the coating and ensure that they remain non-stick for a long time.

  • Cleaning the base unit and power cord:
    • Clean splash guards/wind shield, drip pan etc. with a damp cloth (microfi bre cloths are ideal) and some dishwater.
    • Afterwards wipe all parts dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use abrasives or a dissolvent or sharp objects!
  • Do not use oven sprays for cleaning!
  • Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning!

Note: Prior to the next use, the grill plates must be completely dry.

Disposal/recycling

Packaging material
Do not simply throw the packaging material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard to waste paper collection points. Also put plastic packaging material and foils into the specific c collection containers.

The printed or embossed markings indicate the materials which were used: PE stands for polyethylene (code 02 means high-density PE, 04 stands for low- density PE), PS stands for polystyrene and CPE for chlorinated polyethylene. PAP 20 means corrugated cardboard and PAP 21 other cardboard. All plastics are thermoplastics which are very easy and Effie client to produce. They are also very easy to recycle and therefore can even have a smaller ecological footprint than comparable cardboard packaging.

Disposal information

According to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/ EU), this product may not be disposed of with other household waste at the end of its service life. Therefore please submit it e.g. at a municipal collection point (e.g. recycling center) according to the laws of your country of residence for the recycling of electrical and electronic appliances. Your municipality or city administration will inform you about the disposal options.
