SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE WARNING MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND WILL VOID WARRANTY.
Owner must ensure that all players know and follow these rules for safe operation of the system.
To ensure safety, do not attempt to assemble this system without following the
instructions carefully. Check
entire box and inside all packing material for parts and/or additional
instruction material. Before beginning assembly, read the instructions and
identify parts using the hardware identifier and parts list in this manual.
Proper and complete assembly, use, and supervision are essential for proper
operation and to reduce the risk of accident or injury. A high probability of
serious injury exists if this system is not installed, maintained, and
operated properly.
- If using a ladder (not recommended) during assembly, use extreme caution.
- Check base regularly for leakage. Slow leaks could cause the system to tip over unexpectedly.
- Two (2) or more capable adults are recommended for this operation.
- Seat the pole sections properly (if applicable). Failure to do so could allow the pole sections to separate during play and/or during transport of the system.
- Adult supervision is recommended when adjusting the height of the backboard.
- Climate, corrosion or misuse could result in system failure.
- Minimum operational height is 6’6” (1.98m) to the bottom of backboard.
- Read and understand the warning label affixed to pole.
- The life of your basketball pole depends on many conditions. The climate, placement of the pole, location of the pole, exposure to corrosives such as pesticides, herbicides, or salts are all important.
- If technical assistance is required, contact our customer service on salta.com.
- Adult supervision is recommended when adjusting height.
- Serious injury could occur if teeth/face come in contact with backboard, net or rim
Most injuries are caused by misuse and/or not following instructions. Use caution when using this unit.
NOTICE TO ASSEMBLERS
Two capable adults required for assembly. Assembled unit MUST be filled with
sand at all times. The manufacturer
recommends sand. ALL basketball systems must be assembled and installed
according to instructions. Failure to follow instructions could result in
SERIOUS INJURY. It is NOT acceptable to devise a makeshift support system.
WARNING!
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE WARNING MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY
DAMAGE AND WILL VOID WARRANTY. Owner must ensure that all players know and
follow these rules for safe operation of the system.
-
DO NOT HANG on the rim or any part of system including backboard, support braces or net.
-
During play, espacially when performing dunk type activities, keep players face away from backboard, rim, and net. Serious injurig could occur if teeth/face come in contact with the backboard, rim, or net.
-
Do not slide, climb or play on base and/or pole.
-
Completely fill base according to manufactures instructions or the system will tip quickly causing serious personal injury.
-
When adjusting height or moving system, keep hands and fingers away from moving parts.
-
Do not allow children to move or adjust system. Adjustments or movements should be carried out only by an adult.
-
During play, do not wear jewelry (rings, watches, necklaces, etc.). Objects may entangle in net and result in serious injury.
-
Surface beneath the base must be smooth and free of gravel or other sharp objects. Punctures cause leakage and could cause system to tip over.
-
Keep water and organic material away from pole. Pole can rust and fall.
-
Once a month, check pole system for signs of corrosion (rust, pitting, chipping) and repaint with exterior enamel paint. If rust has penetrated through the steel anywhere, replace pole immediately.
-
Always check system before each use for proper ballast, loose hardware, excessive wear and signs of corrosion and repair before each use.
-
Check system before each use for instability.
-
Do not use system during windy and/or severe weather conditions; system may tip over. Place system in the storage position and/or in an area protected from the wind and free from personal property and/or overhead wires that may be damaged if the system fails.
-
Never play on damaged equipment.
-
Keep pole top covered with cap at all times.
-
While moving system, never allow someone to sit or stand on base, or add extra ballast to base. At least two
capable adults is necessary to move the system. -
Never leave system unsupervised, or allow anyone to play on or near base or poles, when wheels are engaged or moving.
-
Risk of strangulation with the net.
-
Manufacturer recommends placing system on flat surface. Using or moving system on uneven or sloped surfaces may result in tipping.
-
Do not allow water in system to freeze. During sub-freezing weather conditions, add enough non toxic anti-freeze to water to prevent freezing, use sand, or empty water and store system in a safe manner.
-
Adult supervision required.
-
Only for domestic use.
-
The product has been deemed appropriate for children of 6 years of age based on its attributes.
-
Never leave system in upright position without proper weight in base or the system will tip over.
PLACEMENT/MOVEMENT OF THE UNIT
For safety reasons, we strongly recommend to have at least two capable adults to move the unit.
- Adjust the unit to its lowest position and lock in place to prevent the height mechanism from adjusting.
- Standing in front of the unit, pull the pole down until unit is balanced on the 2 wheels.
- Move the unit to the desired location and carefully lower unit back down.
Caution:
The unit must only be moved when balanced on the wheels sliding the unit. Any
other way may cause damage to the base and could result in sand leakage and/or
unit tipping over.
For correct placement of the unit, we recommend the following steps:
- Place the unit on a flat and stable surface, beneath the base must be smooth and free of gravel or other sharp objects.
- Ensure a clearance of at least 2 meters around and above the perimeter of the unit. Please ensure that no hazardous objects or structure are near the unit such as buildings, electrical power wiring, walls, fences, etc.
- Punctures cause leakage and could cause system to tip over.
If you do not follow these guidelines, you increase the risk of someone getting injured.
POLE CARE AND SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The life of your basketball system depends on many variables. The climate,
exposure to corrosives such as salt,
pesticides or herbicides, and excessive use, or misuse can all contribute to
pole failure, which may cause property
damage and/or personal injury. Check your basketball system frequently for
loose hardware, excessive wear, and signs of corrosion. For safety reasons,
and to prolong the life of your basketball system, you must take the following
preventative measures:
-
Check all nuts and bolts for tightness and tighten when required.
-
Check all parts of excessive wear and tear. If necessary, replace any parts that have been worn or damaged
through usage. -
Do not use detergent products to care for the system. Wash with clear or soapy water.
-
Check all coverings and sharp edges and replace when required.
-
Check all poles for visible rust, chips, or cracked paint. If either is present, do the following:
- A. Use an emery cloth to completely remove any rust or chipped paint.
- B. Clean the area with a damp cloth and allow it to dry.
- C. Spray two coats of rust preventative, high gloss enamel paint on the area.
IF RUST HAS PENETRATED THROUGH THE POLE ANYWHERE, REPLACE THE POLE IMMEDIATELY!
