Selecting the Chocolate

  • The Chocolate Fountain will work with most types of chocolate with Cocoa Percentage >50% especially those with a high cocoa solid content. you can buy special chocolate simply for chocolate fountains but the easiest and cheapest way to use it is with simple
  • Belgian chocolate suitable for cooking with.
  • You will find this in the supermarket home baking section Chocolate such as Belgian or Couverture requires little or no additional oil. Milk and dark chocolate will work well but you should thin it by adding some light vegetable or sunflower oil.
  • This will not alter the flavor, as it is fairly tasteless when mixed with chocolate. You will eRneed approx. 750 g chocolate and 200 ml oil, if required.

Using the Chocolate Fountain

  1. Insert the plug into an electrical socket.
  2. Make sure the Chocolate Fountain is on a flat level surface this is important to achieve a good cascading chocolate effect.
  3. Insert the fountain tower over the prongs on the base of the plate. and then insert the spiral into the centre.
  4. Turn the dial to the heat setting: the indicator light will now be illuminated to show the unit is switched on. It will take between 3-5 minutes to warm up. The unit is then ready to use.
  5. The easiest way to prepare chocolate is to melt it first; either in the microwave or in a bowl over hot water. For a full cascading effect, you will need between 400-500g of chocolate and 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil needs to be added to thin the chocolate down, so it flows properly. If melting the chocolate in the microwave use a suitable jug or container and make sure it is fully melted before adding in the oil. Be careful the chocolate may be overcooked, For 500W Microwave 20 seconds. For 1000W Microwave 10 seconds regular power each time. Pour the chocolate mixture into the base of the fountain and switch the control dial the heat/motor.
  6. The spiral draws the warm chocolate up to the top of the tier system then the chocolate flows down the tiers to produce a cascading effect. The chocolate will then be drawn back to the top and the process starts again.
  7. Once the chocolate is in full flow everyone can start to dip the food of their choice into the chocolate. Use long wooden skewers with your choice of dipper on the end, taking care of the tip.
