Product Usage Instructions
Setting Up the Fan Control:
- Set the fan speed to the highest setting using the pull chain.
- Turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
- Remove the existing switch from the wall by detaching the wallplate and pulling the switch away from the wall.
- Disconnect all three wires from the switch – ground, neutral, and fan/tagged wire.
- Connect the wires as follows:
- Connect the bare copper (or green) ground wire from the wall box to the green wire on the fan control.
- Connect the neutral wire from the wall box to the white wire on the fan control.
- Connect the fan/tagged wire from the wall box to the yellow wire on the fan control.
- Mount the fan control on the wall securely.
- Turn the power back on.

Operation:
- ON: Adjust between four speeds – High, MediumHigh, Medium, and Low.
- OFF: Fan control is turned off.

Q: What types of fans are compatible with this Fan Control?
A: This Fan Control is designed for use with AC fans only. It is not suitable for DC motor fans, fans with remote controls, Wi-Fi-only fans, or exhaust fans (bathroom or kitchen). -
Q: Can I use this Fan Control with integrated fan speed controls?
A: This Fan Control is intended for use with fans that have a pull chain for speed control. Do not use it with fans that have integrated controls like remote controls or Wi-Fi connectivity unless those integrated controls are removed from the ceiling fan.
Not for use with DC motor fans, fans with a remote control, Wi-Fi only fans, or exhaust fans (bathroom or kitchen exhaust fans).
IMPORTANT NOTES
- For indoor use only.
- Operate between 32 ˚F (0 ˚C) and 104 ˚F (40 ˚C).
- Use to control one paddle-type ceiling fan.
- Use the ceiling fan’s pull chain to set its speed to the highest setting.
- Do not use to control fans that have integrated fan speed controls other than a pull chain (i.e., fans that have a remote control or Wi-Fi), unless the integrated control is removed from the ceiling fan.
- Do not connect to any other motor-operated appliance or to any lighting load type.
- Do not use to control lighting loads on a fan.
- Not compatible with Sunnata companion dimmers or switches.
Installing your fan control

Set the fan speed
Set the fan to the highest speed using the pull chain. -
Turn power off at circuit breaker!
WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD.
May result in serious injury or death. Turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse before installing. -
Remove existing switch from wall
Remove the wallplate from the switch.
Pull the switch away from the wall.
Place tag on fan wire (if unsure, pick one, and if the fan does not work turn power off, and swap wire).
Disconnect all three wires from the switch. -
Connect the fan control

Connect the bare copper (or green) “ground” wire from the wallbox to the green wire on the fan control using a wire connector.

Wrap line/hot wire around screw terminal, and tighten securely. Torque reference: 5 in-lb (0.55 N•m).

Connect the neutral wire from the wallbox to the white wire on the fan control using a wire connector.

Connect the fan/tagged wire from the wallbox to the yellow wire on the fan control using a wire connector.

Mount the fan control on the wall.

Turn the power back on.

For use in a RadioRA 3 system, please refer to www.lutron.com/RA3support For reliable performance in a system, Clear Connect-Type X devices must be placed within 25 ft (7.6 m) or within 75 ft (22.86 m) of the wireless processor / gateway devices of two additional compatible Clear Connect-Type X devices.
Examples of Clear Connect-Type X devices include RadioRA 3 Sunnata dimmer, fan control, switch, keypad and RadioRA 3 wireless processor/gateway devices. Companion devices are excluded from the list of compatible devices because they are not Clear Connect- Type X devices. Companion devices have wired communication with the main device.

Operation
Troubleshooting
CAUTION
Use only with permanently installed ceiling fans. To avoid overheating and
possible damage to other equipment, do not use to control receptacles, motor-
driven appliances, or transformer-supplied appliances.
Codes
Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
Grounding
When no “grounding means” exist in wallbox, the National Electrical Code
(NEC®) allows a control to be installed as a replacement if 1) a nonmetallic,
noncombustible faceplate is used with nonmetallic attachment screws or 2) the
circuit is protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI). When
installing a control according to these methods, cap or remove green wire
before screwing control into wallbox.
