Mounts with a PN# ending with B indicate passengers side of the same model. If
your Toyota Model is not listed in the chart above, contact customer support
to see which mount is best for your Toyota vehicle.
Step 1
Before proceeding with the instructions make sure to open up the hood and
complete feeding the antenna cable (NMO-MT-15) from under the hood of the car,
to the base corner of the front windshield. Be careful not to pinch, jam,
twist etc. the cable in any components especially the hood closures.
Tip: Use Rugged Radios Reusable Cable Tie R-Wrap to help secure cable
into a safe position (PN#: R-WRAP-6). Refrain from using any plastic zip-ties
on cables to avoid pinching or damage.
Step 2
This step is optional, but can be helpful to preventing damage to the
vehicle. Cover the edge along the car with masking tape to prevent the body
from surface damage. Place a rag or towel under the hood near the window to
prevent the hood from hitting or slipping against the windshield when working
on the hood hinge.
Step 3
Arrange MT-ANT-TOY so that the bolt holes face toward the front of the car,
and the rounded antenna faces in the direction of the rear of the car (see
following images). This is to prepare the mount to quickly fit into the bolt
pattern, since it is crucial to install the bolts back into the hood as soon
as possible. This will prevent the hood from sliding around.
Installing the Antenna Mount
Step 4
Now carefully unscrew the forward facing (first) bolt at the hood hinge on the
side of installation.
Step 5
Hold and place the MT-ANT-TOY so that the first bolt hole of the mount lines
up with the bolt hole of the hood car.
Replace the bolt to secure the hood but do NOT tighten down.
Step 6
Next, carefully remove the second (rear) bolt of the hood, and line up the
second bolt hole of the MT-ANT-TOY. Replace the original vehicle bolt through
the mount and the hood. Tighten both the bolts on the mount/hood to secure the
mount into the hood.
Step 7
Check to make sure the cable of NMO-MT-15 is NOT pinched or stuck in the mount
or closure of the hood, and is out of the way. MT-ANT-TOY should also be NOT
in the way of the hood closure. You may close the hood SLOWLY at this time.
Step 8
Remove the screw washer with the spacer on the end of NMO-MT-15. It is
important to make sure the plastic spacer stays on the inside of the threaded
washer. (See fig. 1) Feed the bolt end of NMO-MT-15 through the bottom of the
antenna hole on MT-ANT-TOY. (See fig 2 & 3)
Step 9
Next, place, and screw on the threaded washer on the top of MT-ANT-TOY and the
bolt of NMO-MT-15, with the washer facing/resting on MT-ANT-TOY. Use an
adjustable crescent wrench as shown to gently tighten the threaded washer
down, careful not to overtighten, as this can destroy the threads on the
washer.
Note: Tighten Carefully
Step 10
Finally, take your antenna and screw it on manually to the top of the threaded
washer.
Note: Antenna model may vary
Note: Be careful not to over tighten as this might break the threads on
the washer.
Step 11
To finish off, remove the rag/towel from under the hood of the vehicle. Close
hood SLOWLY if not done so, and make sure the hood aligns properly back.
Adjust if needed. Remove any masking tape from the body of the vehicle. Clean
up any of the cable with cable ties as desired (R-WRAP-6). Your antenna and
mount installment is now complete.
Step 12
Now it’s time to test. It’s always best to check performance in an outdoor,
open area. Turn on radio system. Check system operation and set VOLUME levels.
Once all devices are on and functioning properly, re-check with the engine
running. At idle and revved up. If any electrical noises are heard, check for
proper connections. If noises persist, or if you have any other questions, our
team is ready to help.
