Installation Instructions
Remove existing air intake
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the entire perimeter of the air intake.
This is an important step, as it will release the adhesive and allow for clean
removal. Once the adhesive is heated, carefully pull from the nozzle in an
upward motion to break the nozzle free from the helmet. If you cannot pull
free use more heat to release adhesive. Be sure to remove any remaining
adhesive from the shell while the adhesive is warm by rubbing with your
fingers. To remove the remaining residue, use a soft cloth and isopropyl
alcohol. Avoid using metallic implements or tools, as they may damage the
surface of the helmet. Do not use open flame or excessive heat.
Prepare the helmet’s surface
Once the existing air intake and any remaining adhesive are fully removed from
the shell, use isopropyl alcohol, and clean the entire surface where Flowhawk
will adhere. This will ensure a tight bond which is essential for durability
and
preventing leakage
Before removing the adhesive backing, position Flowhawk onto the shell.
Carefully centre the front of the intake with the MRC logo on the front of the
helmet. Check the alignment between the left contour line of the helmet and
the corresponding contour in the base of the intake. With Flowhawk held in
place, take a pencil and lightly outline the front edge and ¼” up each side.
These lines will guide you during installation.
Install Flowhawk™ low profile mid-air intake
Remove protective backing from the adhesive strip around the entire perimeter
of your new intake. A razor blade can be used to make it easier to lift
adhesive backing from a tape surface. Again, carefully centre the front of the
intake with the MRC logo on the front of the helmet using your pencilled
lines. Once Flowhawk is properly in position, slowly and evenly apply pressure
around the perimeter of the intake, creating a seal between it and the shell.
