Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started

  1. Install included AAA Batteries (Batteries can be found in the
    on-board storage location).

  2. Press and hold the power button located just above the
    screen.

  3. Press and hold the zero button located behind the screen on the
    inside of the handle.

  4. Your BlueViewTM Fish Tape is now ready to use.

Calibration

The BlueViewTM Fish Tape comes factory calibrated and ready to
use. It is recommended to calibrate the fish tape at regular
intervals for accuracy.

Replacing Batteries

  1. Locate the two #2 Phillips drive screws on the back cover of
    the handles.

  2. Remove the cover to access the battery pack and on-board
    storage location.

  3. Inspect the battery compartment for any signs of degradation
    before installing new batteries.

  4. Install new batteries and securely replace the cover by
    aligning the locking tab and pushing down flat.

Disposal of Used Batteries/Accumulators

Users are legally obliged to return used batteries and
accumulators. Disposing of batteries in household waste is
prohibited. Return used batteries to any collecting point or where
batteries are sold to comply with legal obligations and contribute
to environmental protection.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How do I unwind and wind the fish tape?

A: To unwind, grasp handle and rotate case in
the direction of the arrow on the case. To wind, rotate in the
opposite direction following the arrow.

Q: What is the recommended strength for each type of fish

tape?

A: E-CLASSTM has a strength of 350 lbs, while
HELiXTM has a strength of 200 lbs.

How to Fish Feed fish tape to the pulling point. Fasten wires to the fish tape eye and wrap securely with electrician’s tape; pull wires through (see Figure 1). For best results, use a wire pulling lubricant such as Yellow 77®, Yellow 77 Plus®, Aqua-Gel® II or ClearGuideTM to reduce pulling effort and protect the wires.

Getting Started 1. Install included AAA Batteries (Batteries can be found in the on-board storage location). See “How to Replace Batteries”
section for details. 2. Press and hold the power button located just above the screen (Figure 1). 3. Press and hold the zero button located behind the screen on the inside of the handle (Figure 2). 4. Your BlueViewTM Fish Tape is ready to use.

How to Calibrate The BlueViewTM Fish Tape comes factory calibrated and ready to use. It is recommended that the fish tape be calibrated at the following increments:
­ 500′ of use ­ 5000′ of use ­ As needed after 5000′ of use To Field Calibrate: 1. Retract the fish tape all the way into the case. 2. Press and hold the Zero button for 3 seconds. 3. Pull out and measure 10′ of fish tape material using a measuring tape (Figure 4). 4. Using a stripped 12 AWG Solid Wire (or similar object) locate and press the 10′ Calibrate button located on the face of the handle (Figure 3) “CAL” will appear on the screen when complete. 5. The BlueViewTM Fish Tape is now calibrated and ready for normal use.

How to Replace Batteries 1. Locate the two #2 Phillips drive screws located on the back cover of the handles (Figure 5). 2. Remove the cover to expose the battery pack (middle of handle) and on-board storage (rear of handle) location (Figure 6). 3. Remove batteries and inspect the battery compartment for any signs of degradation. 3. Once batteries are installed, replace the cover by tilting the locking tab into the slot near the battery holder and pushing
down flat (Figure 7). 4. Replace the two screws until snug, do not over tighten these screws.

Maintenance and Information · Power off the fish tape before performing any maintenance · Clean the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents · Keep away from liquids and ensure the fish tape is completely dry before use · See the instruction guide for the respective fish tape material for any end repair/replacement instructions · Removing the front cover and tampering with the electronics on board may void the units warranty. · To save battery life, the display will auto darken after 30 seconds of inactivity. To relight the display, feed or retract the tape slightly. · After 30 minutes on inactivity, the fish tape will automatically power down completely.

Disposal of Used Batteries/Accumulators

The user is legally obliged to return used batteries and accumulators. Disposing of batteries in household waste is prohibited! Batteries/

accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin. The symbol indicates that the product is

forbidden to be disposed via domestic refuse. The chemical symbols for the respective hazardous substances are Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury,

Pb = Lead. You can return used batteries/accumulators free of charge to any collecting point of our local authority, or where batteries/ accumulators are sold. Consequently, you must comply with your legal obligations and contributor to environmental protection.

How to Replace Eyelet Fish Tape Preparation Proper preparation and stripping of S-Class® Fish Tape is critical to the strength of the eye-to-tape connection. 1. Cut back damaged end with Side-Cutting Pliers (Figure 1). 2. Strip outer yellow nylon jacket with stripper (using 10 AWG solid hole) exposing fiberglass. 3. Pulling eye strip length to be 3/8″ (9,5 mm), Gold- Fish® leader strip length to be 5/16″ (8 mm)
Gluing Eyelet 1. Apply industrial adhesive (supplied with repair kit) to the fiberglass core and the yellow nylon jacket
(Figure 2). 2. Insert stripped end into eye or leader. Fish tape jacket must bottom-out in eye, and fiberglass end must
extend completely to the edge of the eye hole (Figure 3).
Crimping Eye/Leader
1. Crimp eye to yellow nylon jacket by using crimp nest which is closest to end of crimp tool (Figure 4). Locate shoulder of eye (or leader) against shoulder in die to align crimp. Four crimps are to be made on smaller diameter end of the eye or leader, 90° apart (Figure 5). Six total crimps should be completed.
Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before use.

How to Replace Eyelet Fish Tape Preparation Proper preparation and stripping of E-ClassTM Fish Tape is critical to the strength of the eye-to-tape connection.. 1. Cut back damaged end with Side-Cutting Pliers (Figure 1). 2. Strip outer blue nylon jacket with stripper (using 10 AWG solid hole) exposing fiberglass (Figure 2). IDEAL
recommends using 45-292 or 45-092 Stripmaster® Wire Stripper. 3. Pulling eye strip length to be 1″.
Gluing Eyelet 1. Apply industrial adhesive (supplied with repair kit) to both fiberglass core and the blue nylon jacket (Figure 3). 2. Insert stripped end into eye. Fish tape jacket must bottom-out in eye, and fiberglass end must extend completely
to the edge of the eye hole (Figure 4).
Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before use.

How to Replace Eyelet Proper preparation and stripping of HelixTM Fish Tape is critical to the strength of the eye-to-tape connection.. 1. Cut back damaged end with Side-Cutting Pliers (Figure 1). 2. Apply industrial adhesive (supplied with repair kit) to the fish tape material, from the cut end to 3/4″ (19 mm) down (Figure 2). 3. Insert glued end into eye. Fish tape must bottom- out in eye (Figure 3 ).
Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before use.

How to Reform End Steel: To reform hook, heat end of fish tape with a torch to a dull red color. Grasp heated end with pliers and bend as in Figures 1 and 2. Always wear protective gloves. Allow air to cool; do not quench. Do not bend cold as it could damage the tape.
Accessories Installation 1. Unscrew end-cap from leader (Figure 3) 2. After cutting off loop on fish tape, slide fish tape through hole in adapter. 3. Heat end of fish tape to a dull red and bend end with pliers. Flatten end of tape while still dull red. Reheat if necessary
(Figure 4). 4. Allow tape to cool. Do not quench. 5. Reattach adapter to leader and tighten. Pull on fish tape to ensure secure connection (Figure 5).

How to Replace Eyelet Fish Tape Preparation Proper preparation and stripping of ZoomTM Fish Tape is critical to the strength of the eye-to-tape connection.

  1. Cut back damaged end with Side-Cutting Pliers (Figure 1). 2. Strip outer silver jacket with stripper (using 10 AWG solid hole) exposing stainless core.
  2. Pulling eye strip length to be 1/2″ (12.7 mm)
    Gluing Eyelet 1. Apply industrial adhesive (supplied with repair kit) to the stripped end (Figure 2). 2. Insert stripped end into eyelet. Fish tape jacket must bottom-out in eye, and stainless end must
    extend completely to the edge of the eye hole (Figure 3).
    Crimping Eye/Leader 1. Crimp eye to the stainless end using crimp nest that is closest to pivot. Crimps are to be made by aligning
    the pin in the crimp nest with 1/8″ slot. Complete six crimps evenly spaced on both sides of the eyelet.
    Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before use.
