TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
- The product you have purchased is a professional centrifugal extractor fan for recessed wall installation, ventilation of rooms, and extraction into a single duct.
- The motor is protected against thermal overloads;
- Splash protection makes the product ideal for applications in high-humidity environments.
- MEDIO I: 2-speed motor.
MODELS
A. I model
- The product is operated through an external switch (fig.21).
B. I T model
- This model is equipped with a timer which is factory-set for a minimum operating time of 3 minutes. The timer may be set at between 3 and approximately 20 minutes by adjusting the trimmer (see fig. 28).
- The appliance switches on automatically a few seconds after the light is switched on and continues to run for the set time after the light is switched off. (fig.22)
C. I T HCS EP AC model (Humidity Control System)
- The appliance features a relative humidity sensor that is factory-set at 60%. When relative humidity exceeds that level, the appliance automatically starts up.
- The circuit is also equipped with a timer that can be set at between 3 and approximately 20 minutes by adjusting the trimmer (fig. 28).
- The appliance starts up automatically at the selected speed a few seconds after the light comes on and continues to function for the set time even after the light is switched off (fig.22)

- After removing the appliance from its packaging, ensure that it is complete and undamaged.
- If in doubt, contact a professionally qualified electrician or Vortice*. Do not leave packaging within the reach of children or infirm persons.
- Certain fundamental rules must be observed when using any electrical appliance, including:
- a) do not touch it with wet hands;
- b) do not touch it while barefoot.
- Store the appliance out of reach of children and infirm persons after disconnecting it from the power supply.
- Do not operate the appliance where inflammable vapours or substances are present (alcohol, insecticides, petrol, etc.)
- Take all necessary precautions to ensure that there are no backflows of gas into the room from open-flued combustion appliances.
- This appliance can be used by children no less than 8 years of age and by individuals with limited physical, sensory, or mental capacities, or by inexperienced or untrained individuals, provided that they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and understand the associated risks. Children must not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and maintenance procedures that can be undertaken by the user must not be entrusted to children, unless under supervision.

- Do not make modifications of any kind to the appliance.
- Do not expose the appliance to the weather (rain, sun, etc.).
- Periodically inspect the appliance for damage.
- If any faults are found, do not operate the appliance; contact Vortice* immediately.
- If the appliance malfunctions or develops a fault, contact Vortice* immediately. Ensure that only genuine original Vortice spares are used for repairs.
- If the appliance is dropped or suffers a heavy blow, have it checked immediately by Vortice*.
- The appliance must be installed by a professionally qualified electrician only.
- Ensure that the electrical system to which the appliance is connected complies with applicable standards.
- The appliance is double insulated and therefore does not need to be earthed.
- Check that the electrical power supply/socket provides the maximum electrical power required by the appliance.
- If this is not the case, arrange for a qualified electrician to make the necessary modifications.
- Use a multi-polar switch with minimum contact gaps of 3 mm to install the appliance.
- The timers on the TIMER and T HCS models must be configured by qualified professional personnel.
- Switch off the appliance at the main switch:
- a) if the appliance does not function correctly;
- b) before cleaning the outside of the appliance,
- c) if the appliance is not to be used for any length of time.
- The appliance’s outlet vent must be fitted to standard ventilation hoses (nominal Ø 100 mm) (fig.6).
- Ensure that the room has an adequate source of fresh air to ensure correct appliance operation. If other non-sealed combustion-based appliances (such as a water heater or gas stove) are installed in the same room, check that air replacement is sufficient for all appliances to work effectively together.
- Do not use the appliance to control the activation of water heaters, room heaters, etc., nor should it discharge into the hot air flues of such appliances.
- Ensure that the appliance discharges into a single duct (dedicated to this product) or directly to the outside.
- The air to be extracted from the room must be clean (i.e. free of grease, soot, chemical and corrosive agents, explosive or flammable mixtures).
- Keep the appliance’s intake and outlet grilles free to ensure an optimum flow of air.
- The appliance is fitted with a PUR (polyurethane) mesh filter. This can be cleaned by shaking, blowing, or washing in water. Check the condition of the filter and wash or replace it at least every 6 months of operation (fig. 33-34).
- The appliance is delivered from the manufacturer with the air outlet at the side.
N.B.
- If the appliance is mounted on a wall that has been tiled, a spacer is needed to eliminate any misalignment and ensure correct functioning.
- The appliance must be installed by a professionally qualified electrician.
- A multi-pole switch must be used to install the appliance. The contact opening gap must be no less than 3 mm.
INSTALLATION
- Check that the power supply specifications comply with the electrical data on data plate A.
- Fit the discharge in the direction required.
- Three sides of the wall box have recesses to permit installation of a sleeve (supplied) of nominal diameter 75-80 mm to provide the appliance with an additional air intake for connection by hose to a second room, bathroom, cellar, storage room, etc.
