2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CORRECT, SAFE USE OF THE APPLIANCE
The following instructions must be read, understood and complied with before commissioning the appliance. They are especially useful for the protection of the safety, physical conditions and security of the operator and persons nearby, as well as for providing valuable information for preventing faults and malfunctions, for prolonging the service life, for reducing energy consumption and for environmental protection.
- The appliance is designed for household and non-intensive use. Any professional use compromises the safety requirement and is a condition for inapplicability of the warranty.
- The appliance is intended for indoor use and protected from inclement weather: use in an outdoor environment compromises the safety requirement and constitutes a potential hazard for the safety of the operator and persons nearby.
- The appliance must not be used if it shows deformations, bulges, cracks in the casing, missing parts or other structural anomalies. If these conditions occur, disconnect the power supply and contact qualified technical personnel.
- The appliance must not be used if it emits unusual noises, foul odours, smoke, vapours or any other type of exhalation not related to the cooking in progress. If these conditions occur, disconnect the power supply and contact qualified technical personnel.
- Slight smoke and a slight burning smell may occur when using the appliance for the first time: this situation is normal and does not constitute a fault or hazard unless it lasts beyond the first few minutes of use.
- The appliance must not be stored or used in excessively humid or dusty environments, in the presence of atmospheres saturated with gas, fumes, in excessive or low temperatures or under direct solar radiation.
- The appliance must not be used in explosive atmospheres, near explosive, combustible, detonating or flammable material (e.g. petrol pumps, gas cylinders, etc.). Such use constitutes a serious risk to the safety of the operator and persons nearby and may cause fires or deflagrations.
- Make sure that each part of the appliance, especially the cord, is placed at a safe distance from heat sources (e.g. electric or gas cookers), both during use and when not in use.
- During use, the appliance must be constantly supervised: do not use it in the absence of operators or persons who can constantly check its correct operation.
- During use, the appliance must be placed at a minimum distance of 20 cm from surrounding objects on each side: this precaution prevents parts from overheating and improves performance.
- Normal use of the appliance involves heating the soleplate to temperatures that can cause severe skin burns and lesions. Always exercise extreme caution to avoid contact with this surface during use.
- Beware of sudden bursts of hot steam from the soleplate during use: never press the steam release button except while ironing and with the soleplate resting on the fabrics.
- Use only the original accessories supplied. The use of non-original accessories could constitute a danger of damage to the appliance as well as a potential health hazard.
- Do not use empty; during use, regularly check the water level in the tank on the base.
- Ensure a standstill period of at least 30 minutes after 60 minutes of appliance use.
- Do not insert any objects apart from water into the tank on the base.
- Avoid touching any structural parts, even external ones, during operation, as some of them could reach high temperatures: the tank opening flap is subject to moderate heat and should be the only part to be touched.
- Do not cover the appliance with any heat reflective material (e.g. aluminium). Doing so will lead to the appliance overheating, with the possibility of breakdowns and danger to the operator or people nearby.
- Make sure that every part of the appliance has cooled down adequately before storing it.
- Do not use the appliance if one or more of the parts listed in the following chapter are missing or damaged: contact your dealer for repair.
- Periodically check the conditions of the parts making up the appliance, in particular the power cord: if any anomalies are found, refrain from using the appliance and contact qualified technical personnel.

- Cleaning operations must be carried out taking care to disconnect the appliance from the power supply: refer to the following chapter for the relevant requirements.
- The appliance must be connected to a compliant electrical system. The electrical system must have a power rating equal to or greater than that of the appliance and must be earthed.
- Before connecting the plug of the power cord to the socket, make sure that the voltage of your household installation corresponds to the voltage indicated on the appliance.
- Do not connect the appliance to extension cords, power strips, multi-socket strips, timers, controlled sockets or other devices that can start it up independently.
- If the appliance is not to be used for a prolonged period of time, it is advisable to unplug the power cord from the socket: this will extend the life of the appliance and help reduce energy consumption.
- Do not disconnect the power supply by pulling on the cord: grasp the plug firmly with one hand, place the other hand on the frame of the electrical outlet and disconnect with a quick, sharp movement.
- Before disconnecting the appliance, make sure that it is switched off, unless you need to disconnect it in an emergency situation due to abnormal behaviour as described in this chapter.
- The appliance must be kept out of the reach of children under 8 years of age; in any case make sure that it is not used for play.
- If the appliance is used by children, even if they are over 8 years old, or by persons with reduced cognitive, sensory or motor skills, they must be instructed about the dangers of incorrect use of the appliance and it must be guaranteed that the information has been correctly and fully understood. Adequate supervision must however be ensured.
- Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of liquid accumulations or sources, such as tanks, tubs, showers, sinks, other sanitary fixtures, faucets, pipes, sprinklers, bottles, storage vessels, expansion vessels, watercourses, flowerpots and similar. Do not place containers holding liquids on top of the appliance; make sure that the power cord or electrical plug is never submerged.

4. COMMISSIONING AND FIRST START-UP
Some preliminary operations are necessary before first use. Proceed as follows:
- Unpack the appliance and check the conditions and completeness of the equipment, as indicated in the previous chapter.
- Keep the packaging for 15 days in case it needs to be returned to the retailer; after this period, dispose of it in accordance with the instructions on the separation of materials indicated on it.
- Read this manual in its entirety, paying particular attention to the instructions for safe use.
- Carefully remove all possible fastening materials from parts, including internal parts.
- Fully remove any stickers from the surface of the appliance.
- Place the appliance on a flat, stable surface, taking care to reserve 10 cm of space on all sides, at the rear and above the appliance for the necessary air circulation.
- Refer to chapter 2 for further details and instructions on appliance positioning and installation.
- Fully unwind the power cord.
- Using the supplied cup, carefully fill the tank through the front closable spout, without ever exceeding the MAX notch.
- Turn the temperature selector to [ ]
- Connect the electrical plug to a wall socket with a regular upstream earth leakage circuit breaker.
- Ensure that the cord does not come into contact with hot parts and that it is not subjected to excessive bending or kinking.
- Press the button [ ] to start up the appliance.
- Press the [ ] button repeatedly until the icon (maximum steam level) lights up.
- Wait for the [ ] icon to switch from red to green (approx. 1 min.)
- Release the iron from the base by pressing both front PUSH buttons simultaneously.
- Hold the iron in a horizontal position over a surface suitable for collecting any water (e.g. a bucket or the drainer of a sink).
- Press and hold the steam trigger for about 30 seconds. The pump should start immediately, making a low buzzing sound from the base. Then, after 15 minutes, the soleplate should start producing a light cloud of steam.
- Check that production increases, swinging the iron and holding the soleplate parallel to the horizontal surface.
- Check the parts of the appliance and proceed with its normal use, if necessary.
5. USING THE APPLIANCE
Filling the tank
The tank must be filled with the appliance switched off and the power cord
disconnected. If necessary, hold the [ ] key pressed until all the icons have
switched off except for [ ], which will light up in red. Pull the plug out
from the socket, gently open the front spout (I) and use its slope to
facilitate pouring the water into the tank.
During this operation, remember that:
- Using the supplied cup with a spout is preferred and will facilitate this operation.
- Never fill the water past the MAX notch. Overfilling may result in overflowing and spills, causing an inconvenience to the user and a potential hazard.
- The appliance is fitted with a filter that demineralises the water by means of a chemical/physical reaction, thus allowing the use of normal tap water. The use of distilled water and similarly scented substances or flow aids can modify the material properties of the filter, making it ineffective. All types of water additives available on the market should thus be strictly avoided.
After filling, close the tank by gently pressing on the spout.
Selecting the temperature and releasing the iron
Once the tank is filled, insert the plug in the mains socket again, then press
the [ ] button. The soleplate will slowly start to heat up. Use this period of
time to select the desired ironing temperature with the knob (J), as per the
following table:
| Synthetic, nylon, acrylic, polyester, rayon
---|---
| Wool, silk
| Cotton, linen
The ideal ironing temperature for each garment can easily be found on the clothing label itself, showing the same symbols as the table. If the symbol is shown, this means the garment is made of a fabric that is not intended for ironing. The additional MIN and MAX markings indicate an extremely low or extremely high temperature, normally used on fabrics with special characteristics or for non-ironing operations (e.g. label transfer, edging, etc.).
The appliance is ready for ironing when the icon turns green. Release the iron from the base by simultaneously pressing both PUSH buttons on the sides of the base, then gently lift the iron and proceed to iron.
Selecting and delivering steam
During normal ironing operations, steam is delivered by pressing the trigger
(D) located under the iron handle. Steam is only delivered when the trigger is
pressed and stops when it is released. Depending on the type of fabric used,
the volume of delivered steam can be adjusted by pressing the relative button
(E3), according to the following table:
| Synthetic fibres (polyester, nylon, etc…)
---|---
| Wool, silk
| Cotton, linen
Each time the button (E3) is pressed again, the selected steam level icon lights up in green, cyclically. Remember that:
- The steam produced is effectively increased or decreased a few seconds after the selection. This is because each time a change is made, the water circuit must reach the new set value.
- A higher pressure value entails proportionately higher water consumption. If the maximum pressure is used, frequently check the tank level.
Steam burst
In some cases, for example when removing particularly stubborn creases, it is
possible to deliver very intense steam in a very short time. This is called a
“steam burst” and is useful in the case of very thick fabrics such as denim.
To deliver a steam burst, hold the iron over the crease, then quickly press
the delivery trigger (D) twice. The iron will release an exceptionally high
volume of steam for about six seconds. For very delicate fabrics, it may be
necessary to lift the iron a few centimetres off the ironing surface. Consider
that the steam burst causes the soleplate to noticeably cool. Therefore, the
soleplate should be allowed to heat up again after a steam burst, waiting
preferably 1520 seconds between consecutive bursts.
Automatic standby
To reduce energy consumption, the appliance suspends soleplate heating if the
iron is not used for more than eight minutes. The icon flashes and soleplate
heating is suspended until the next time any of the iron buttons are pressed.
It is highly likely that the soleplate, having cooled down in the meantime,
will need to be compensated by an additional period of heating, indicated by
the icon in red. Therefore, wait for the icon to turn green before starting to
iron again, which should take between 15 and 30 seconds.
At the end of ironing
After use, turn off the appliance by pressing the [ ] button for three
seconds. The steam level icon turns off and the icon turns red. Disconnect the
power cord from the socket and wait for the soleplate to completely cool. Then
empty the receptacle, pouring the residual water from the front spout into a
household drain. Place the iron on the base, pointing it backwards and
lowering the front part into the seat, then lock it by flicking up the locking
lever (G) until a click is heard. Check that the iron is properly locked by
lifting the entire appliance with the iron handle. Do not stow the appliance
until having satisfied the above as the high temperature or presence of water
may cause a hazardous situation. If necessary, dry any wet parts with a dry
cloth.
6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Automatic cleaning
At regular intervals, approximately every 50100 hours of ironing, the
soleplate must be automatically cleaned. This operation involves removing any
limescale and other Salts that could be obstructing steam delivery. To perform
this operation, proceed as follows:
- Fill the tank as previously described.
- Connect the appliance to the mains without taking the iron off the base.
- Turn on the appliance by pressing the [ ] button and wait for the soleplate to reach temperature ( icon turns green)
- Press the button (E2) for three seconds. The relative icon turns red.
- Wait for the icon to turn off (approximately 2 minutes). During this stage, the appliance starts producing large volumes of steam and liquid water, which builds up on the resting surface, where it can be removed using a dry cloth.
- When the icon turns off, wait for the soleplate to heat up until the icon turns green
- If appropriate, proceed with normal ironing.
Additional cleaning and maintenance instructions
Clean the surfaces of the appliance strictly with a damp cloth, making sure to
disconnect the power plug from the socket. In any case, avoid aggressive
detergents, abrasive sponges, steel wool or other chemical cleaners. Never
clean the solepate except in the event of blatant contaminations in the event
of improper use. See the specific products or contact a technical support
service. Before reconnecting the appliance after cleaning, check that all
parts are perfectly dry.
