MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Warning!
We strongly recommend letting an Öhlins dealer install this product.
Warning!
If you work with a lifted vehicle, make sure that it is safely supported to
prevent it from tipping over.
Note!
When you work with this product, see the vehicle service manual for vehicle-
specific procedures and important data.
Note!
Before you install this product clean the vehicle.
- Put the motorcycle on a work stand so that the rear wheel barely touches the ground.
- Remove the lower attachment screws for the rear suspension.
- Remove the front shock absorber attachment screw.
- Remove the standard shock absorber; if necessary remove the frame bracket under the seat, above the suspension to gain more clearance.
- Remove the right side cover. Install the new shock by first pulling the preload adjuster and hose through the right side frame opening near the engine, from the seat side to the side cover side.
- Let the preload adjuster hang freely; mount the shock absorber onto the frame.
- Mount the preload adjuster bracket to the preload adjuster with loose tighten screws.
- Mount the side cover and mount the bracket to the side cover (use the original screws and attached washers, see picture).
- Fasten the hose with supplied cable ties. Make sure that the hose runs without sharp bends and that the hose is not squeezed when the rear suspension is compressed or extended.
- Tighten all suspension shock screws with the correct torque.
- If neccessary use the extra tie raps to keep the wire harness away from the suspension shock cylinder head.
