Product Information

Specifications

  • Product Name: VERSA-LINE COMMERCIAL FINNED TUBE RADIATION VA/VB-XC CEILING MOUNTED STXCC-II-2
  • Installation Method: Directly mounts onto the element fin without a back plate for support
  • Application: Suitable for steam systems (Two Pipe)

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Determine the quantities of enclosure and accessories required per wall or run.
  2. Lay out the element as needed and place the bottom of the element fin into the U-bend at the bottom of the ceiling hanger at each hanger location.
  3. Check the submittal drawing for the correct position of the element in.
  4. For copper tube elements, flush the loop or series with system water after soldering to prevent corrosive action.
  5. Install the cover starting at the left end of the run, working clockwise. The element fin supports the cover.
  6. Install overlapping accessories as indicated on the room schedule. If supply or return run-outs extend beyond the cover, a clearance slot must be field cut.

Before each heating season, remove accessories and enclosure panels to inspect finned tube elements for dust or debris accumulation. Remove dust and debris from coil fins with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Inspect for leaks or corrosion areas and replace cover and accessories if necessary.

FAQ

  • Q: How often should I inspect the finned tube elements for accumulation of dust or debris?
  • A: It is recommended to inspect the finned tube elements before each heating season to ensure proper airflow.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. These covers mount directly onto the element fin and do not use a back plate for support.

  2. Determine quantities of enclosure and accessories required per wall or run.
3A. Hot Water Systems: Using rods or wires by others, as listed in the specifications, install two (2) ceiling hangers (elevation as shown in mechanical drawing layouts.) per element length up to 5′-0″ of length. Install three (3) ceiling hangers per element length 5′-6″ up to 9′-6″ (8′-0″ for ¾” copper/aluminium) of length. Install four (4) ceiling hangers per element length 9′-6″ up to 12′-6″. Accessories do not require brackets. Apply the same for the second and/or third row(s) of the element if required.
    3B. Steam Systems (Two Pipe):
If this cover is used on two pipe steam applications, the ceiling hangers and cover will have to be pitched downward from the supply end of the element. The minimum rate of pitch is ½” drop over a 20-foot run. Install two (2) ceiling hangers (elevation location will be found on submittal document.) per element length up to 5′-0″ of length. Install three (3) ceiling hangers per element length 5′-6″ up to 9′-6″ (8′-0″ for ¾” copper/aluminium) length. Install four (4) ceiling hangers per element length 9′-6″ up to 12′-6″. Accessories do not require brackets. Apply the same for the second and/or third row of elements if required.

  3. Lay out elements as required. Place the bottom of the element fin into the U-bend at the bottom of the ceiling hanger at each hanger location. Check the submittal drawing for the correct position of the element in. For copper tube elements, flush the loop or series with system water after soldering to neutralize the remaining flux material and prevent corrosive action and resulting pinhole leaks.

  4. The cover can now be installed. The element fin supports the cover. Start the enclosure at the left end of the run, working clockwise.

  5. Install overlapping accessories as indicated on the room schedule. If the supply or return run-outs extend beyond the end of the cover and end accessory, a clearance slot must be field cut. All accessories are overlapping and secured in place with fasteners by others.

MAINTENANCE

  • Before each heating season, remove accessories and enclosure panels to inspect finned tube elements for accumulation of dust or other debris that may accumulate and block airflow between fins.
  • Remove dust and debris from coil fins with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Inspect for leaks or areas of corrosion. Replace the cover and accessories.
