DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR
(FORWARD/REVERSE/CENTER LOCK)
Your drill-driverhas a directionof rotation(forward/reverss/
centei”lock) selector located above the switch ggar for
changing the direction of bit rotation. Setting the switch
trigger in the OFF (center lock) position helps reduce the
possibilityof accidentalstartingwhen notin use.

process none of the LEDs are lit, removethe battary pack

product. DO NOT insert another battery.Return the
charger and battery to your nearestservicecenter
for service or replacement.
CHARGING THE BAI-I’ERY PACK
The battery pack for this tool has been shippedin a low
charge conditionto prevent possible problems.Therefore,
you should charge overnightpriorto use.
NOTE: Batteries will not reach furl oharge the first time
they are charged.Allow several cycles (operationfollowed
by recharging]for them to become fully charged.
• Charge battery pack only w_ththe charging assembly
provided.
• Make sure power supply is normalhouseholdvoltage,
120 volts, 60 Hz, AC on_y.
• Connect charger to power supply.
• Place battery pack in charging stand.Align raised db
on bateP/pack with groovein chargingstan. See
F/gum 2.
• Press down on bttsrypack to be’sure contacts on
battery pack engage properlywith contacts in charging
stand.
• The charge indicator light (LED), located on the charging stand, wi
I’_ghtup red and glow when the eharger
is properlyconnectedto power supply. “Thislight
indicates the charger is operatingproperty.It will
remain on unblbatterypack is removed from charging
stand or charger is disconnectedf_om power supply.
• After normaJusage, 3 hoursork_saof chargingtime is
required to hJftyrecharge battery pack.
NOTE; If both red and orangeLED ind_caforsglow, the
battery pack is deeply orcompk=.te0jd(scharged, and
6 hours er longerof chargingtime }s requiredto fully
rechargethebatterypack,
Ifthechargerdoes notcharge_hebatterypack,or
the orangeLED corr_nuesto glow after more than 30
mnutes of chsrg’lng,returnthe battery pack and charging e.ssemb[yto your nearestSears Repair Center for
electricalcheck.
• The batterypackwill become slightlywarm to the
touch while charging.This is normaland does not
indicate a problem.
m Do not place chargerin an area of extreme heat or
cold. It wiltwork best at normalroom temperature.
II When batteries become fully charged, unplugcharger
from power supply and removethe battery pack.
CHARGING A HOT BA’rrt=RY PACK
When usingyourtool continuously, the batteries Inyour
battery pack will become hot. Youshould let a hotbattery
pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before
attempting to recharge.
NOTE: This situationorgyoccurs when continuoususe of
your ddll causes the batteries to become hot. It does not
occur under nonT
circumstances.Refer to =CHARGING
THE BATTERY PACI_ for normalrecharg]ngof battedes.
If the chargingaasembly doesnot charge your battery
pack undernormalcircumstances,returnboth the battery
pack and chargingassembly to your nearest Sears Repair
Center for electricalcheck.

the drill bit levelduringuse.
• Check the directionof rotation selectorfor the correct
sathng (forward or raverae).
• Secure the material to be drilledin a vise orwith
clampsto keep _t'{Tomturningasthe ddlt bit rc>_atas.
• Hold the drillfirmlyand place the bit at the pointto be
• Depress the switch trigger to start the drill.
• Move the drillbit intothe work,piece, applying only
enough _ress_e to keep the bit cuthng.Do not toms

• When drillinghard,smooth surfaces, use a center
punchto mark the desired hole location. Thiswill prevent the dn’ilbit from slippingoff-center as the hole is
started.
• When drillingmetals, use a light oil on the drill bit to
keep it from overheating.The oil will prolong the life ot
the bitand increase _e driltingaction.
• If the bit )aresin the workpiecaor it the ddllstalls,
stop the tool irnmed_tel’/. Remove the bit from the
workpiece and determinethe reasonfor jamming.

isreleased, the chuckstops turning,When the brake is
functioning properly,sparks will be visiblethroughthe
vent slots on the housing.This is normaland is the action
