  • After use, adjust to the lowest torque setting, clean, and store in a safe, dry, childproof location.

Introduction

The torque wrench features a heat-treated steel ratchet head, fully hardened and tempered, with an electrodeposition finish for corrosion resistance. It is calibrated in accordance with BS EN ISO 6789-1:2017 and comes with an individually numbered test certificate. The torque range adjustment is micrometer type with scale graduation in both Nm and lb.ft. It also has a flip reverse ratchet mechanism and is supplied in a storage case.

Operation

  1. Hold the torque wrench with the required scale (lb.ft or Nm) visible.
  2. Turn the knurled lock screw at the end of the handle anticlockwise to unlock the knurled adjusting grip.
  3. Turn the adjusting grip to select the torque setting.

Recalibration

To maintain accuracy, recalibrate the torque wrench annually and after any impact or misuse. Contact a NAMAS-accredited laboratory for recalibration.

FAQ

  • Q: How often should I recalibrate the torque wrench?
    • A: The torque wrench should be recalibrated annually and after any impact or misuse to ensure continued accuracy.

INTRODUCTION

Heat-treated steel ratchet head. Fully hardened and tempered. Electrodeposition finish for corrosion resistance. Calibration tolerance in accordance with BS EN ISO 6789-1:2017. Every wrench is tested and supplied with an individually numbered test certificate. Micrometer-type torque range adjustment with a scale graduated in both Nm and Ib.it. Flip reverse ratchet mechanism. Supplied in storage case.

SPECIFICATION

  • Model no: AK624B
  • Drive: 1/2″
  • Length: 465mm
  • Torque range :   27-204Nm (20-150lb.ft)

OPERATION

Hold the torque wrench in one hand so that the required scale (Ib.ft or Nm) is uppermost and visible.
Turn knurled lock screw at end of the handle anticlockwise to unlock knurled adjusting grip.
Turn to adjust grip to select torque setting as follows : Required setting – 56lb.ft
Turn grip until top edge of grip is level with the 50lb.ft line on the handle scale and the zero graduation on the grip is aligned with the centre line of the handle scale.
Rotate the handle further, clockwise, until the ‘6’ graduation on the grip is aligned with the center line to give a setting of 50 + 6 = 56lb.ft.
NOTE : If using the Nm scale then each division on the grip graduation is equivalent to 1.36Nm.

Therefore to set the wrench at 100Nm:

Turn grip until top edge of grip is level with the 94.9m line on the handle scale and the zero graduation on the grip is aligned with the centre line of the handle scale.

Rotate the handle further, clockwise, until the ‘4’ graduation on the grip is aligned with the center line to give a setting of 94.9 + (4 × 1.36) = 94.9 + 5.44 =100.34Nm

Tighten the knurled lock screw at the end of the handle to prevent accidental alteration of the setting.

When tightening the nut/bolt you will feel and hear the wrench mechanism click when the set torque is reached. Immediately stop applying force to the wrench to avoid over-tightening the nut/bolt. The torque wrench will reset ready for the next application.

NOTE : If the torque wrench has not been used for some time, operate it a few times, at a low setting, to ensure all internal parts are matar in Mraaca

RECALIBRATION

In order to ensure continued accuracy, the torque wrench should be recalibrated annually and after any impact or other misuse. contact a NAMAS accredited laboratory.
