Heat detector for domestic use
The HA-58 is a heat detector meant to discover cases of fire in the first
phase. If the temperature rises, the HA-58 will start emitting a loud alarm
tone of at least 85dB (A). It’s advisable to test the heat detector weekly by
using the test button. Attention: This heat detector only signals when the
temperature rises to 55˚C or higher. It doesn’t directly detect smoke or fire.
Save this manual in a secure location, like the fuse box cabinet.
RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION LOCATIONS FOR THE HA-58:
• Install the heat detector in areas where you cannot place a smoke detector.
Ensure that it is placed in a location that ensures that, if there would be a
fire nearby the detector, the escape route is still accessible.
• Use multiple detectors to increase your safety and to ensure an escape route
will be available in case of fire.
• It’s advisable to place one heat detector in every location where there is
no smoke detector.
• Place at least one heat detector in the kitchen and garage, where equipment
present may cause a fire.
• Both heat and smoke will first move upwards, to the ceiling. Then it will
travel horizontally. Wall-mounting may technically be possible but will result
in a slower alarm.
• When mounting the detector to the ceiling, place it at a minimum distance of
50 cm from any wall and 61 cm from any corner. Due to natural airflow, such
corners will slow or prevent the detection of heat.
AVOID THE FOLLOWING LOCATION INSTALLATIONS:
• Keep away at least 3 meters from any cooking apparatus.
• Do not place in the bathroom; hot showers may cause false alarms.
• Do not place near a fan or near the exhaust of an air conditioner or heater.
• Do not place in the nook of an A-shaped ceiling.
• Do not place in rooms where the temperature can reach below 0°C or beyond
45°C.
• Do not paint the heat detector and do not cover it in any way,
INSTALLATION INFORMATION:
Install the ceiling plate on a location fitting the description above using
plugs and screws. Remove the plastic foil from the battery that is placed
inside of the detector, plug it in the cable located inside the battery
compartment and place it firmly inside the compartment. Once a battery is
placed, you should be able to place the detector on the ceiling plate and
rotate it easily. Test the detector first by holding the “Test”-key for 2
seconds. The RED LED will blink every minute to show the detector is still
operational.
USE, TESTING, AND MAINTENANCE:
USE:
The heat detector is operational if the 9-volt battery (6F22) is placed and
the HA-58 is mounted to the ceiling. You can only place the detector on the
ceiling plate if the 9-volt battery is installed. If the detector is
operational the red LED will blink every minute. Once the measured temperature
by the heat detector is higher than 55°C the alarm will go off. A loud beep
will sound and the red LED will blink continuously. Once the heat dissipates,
the alarm will stop automatically.
Testing :
By pressing the test key on the HA-58, the alarm can be tested to ensure it is
still operational. Hold the key for at least 2 seconds. Operation is correct
if the red LED blinks and a tone is audible. Preferably check the detector
weekly. During the alarm state, the HA-58 will generate a tone of at least
85dB(A) sound pressure. Do not test the heat detector with candles, open
flames, cigarettes, or similar methods. It is possible to test the heat
detector with a hairdryer.
ATTENTION:
• If there is any doubt over the cause of an alarm, then assume the alarm is
caused by fire and evacuate the premises as soon as possible.
• Keep the heat detector away from small children.
• During renovations, protect the heat detector against dust. It will lose its
functionality is covered by dust.
Maintenance:
The HA-58 can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
PLAN AN ESCAPE ROUTE:
• Make a map and mark all locations of doors and windows and a possible escape
route. Note that you may need an escape ladder on high floors.
• Ensure everyone in the house knows the sound the smoke alarms produce and
regularly practice the use of the escape route.
• Leave the house immediately according to the plan when hearing the alarm.
Every second counts: so respond quickly. If you do not notice smoke or heat,
check if everyone in the house is in a secure location.
• Do not open any doors without feeling whether the door is warm or if there
is smoke coming from underneath the doors. If it is, do not open that door. If
the door is cold, put your shoulder firmly against the door and open it a
small amount to check for any heat or smoke first.
• If there is much smoke, keep low and take shallow breaths, preferably
through a moist towel. Call the fire department as soon as you are safe
outside.
REPLACING THE BATTERIES:
The detector is supplied using a 9Volt block battery. Only use the recommended
type Pairdeer 6F22. Under normal conditions, the battery will last at least
one year. If it is about to need replacement, the smoke detector will make a
chirping sound every 60 seconds for at least 30 days. Test the detector after
every battery replacement. If the heat detector does not function, please
contact your supplier
ENVIRONMENT:
Do not throw away used batteries, but recycle them using your local chemical
depot. Product may not be thrown out as normal waste but must be recycled as
electrical waste.
