SAFETY CAUTIONS

Carefully read all the instructions before using the appliance and keep in a safe place for future reference. Always follow these safety cautions when using the appliance to avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance. This appliance should be used only as described in this instruction book.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
  • Make sure your electricity supply matches the voltage shown on the appliance.
  • Ensure all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers are removed from the appliance before the first use.
  • Always inspect the appliance before use for noticeable signs of damage. Do not use if damaged or has been dropped. In the event of damage, or if the appliance develops a fault contact the Lakeland customer care team on 015394 88100.
  • Do not use this appliance if the lead is damaged. If the lead is damaged it must be replaced with a special lead. Contact the Lakeland customer care team on 015394 88100.
  • Always use the appliance on a dry, level, heat resistant surface.
  • Unplug from the mains when not in use and before cleaning. To disconnect, turn the socket to “off“ and remove the plug from the mains socket.
  • Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other than those recommended by Lakeland.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock or personal injury, do not immerse cord, plug or lid in water or other liquids.
  • Do not leave the lead hanging over the edge of a kitchen table or worktop. Avoid contact between the lead and hot surfaces.
  • For indoor use only.
  • For domestic use only.
  • This appliance should be used for preparation of food as described within the instructions for use that accompany it.
  • Always ensure that your hands are dry before removing the plug from the mains socket. Never pull the plug out of the mains socket by its lead.
  • To avoid injury or possible fire, do not cover the appliance when in use.
  • Do not connect this appliance to an external timer or remote control system.
  • An extension cable may be used with care. The electrical rating of the cable should be at least as great as the appliance. Do not allow the cable to hang over the edge of the worktop or touch any hot surfaces.
  • This appliance complies with the basic requirements of Directives 2014/30/EU (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive).
  • WARNING: A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure the cut off plug is disposed of safely.
  • CAUTION: The plastic bags used to wrap this appliance or the packaging may be dangerous. To avoid risk of suffocation, keep these bags out of reach of babies and children. These bags are not toys.
  • Handle the blender stick and chopping blade with care when assembling, emptying the bowl and cleaning. The blades are very sharp; never touch them when the blender is plugged in.
  • Make sure all parts are locked into place before switching on.
  • Always turn off and unplug the blender from the socket if it is left unattended and before assembling, taking apart or cleaning.
  • WARNING : To prevent injury, keep fingers, hair, clothing and utensils well away from the blender stick during use. Never place your hands or any utensils inside the chopping bowl during use. If you need to scrape out the bowl, switch off and unplug the blender.
  • Let hot foods such as soup etc. cool to room temperature before blending.
  • CAUTION: The blending beaker and chopping bowl are not microwave safe.
  • To avoid overheating run the blender for up to 1 minute at a time when preparing soft ingredients, or 15 seconds for hard foods.

USING THE HAND STICK BLENDER FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Unpack the Hand Stick Blender and remove all the packaging materials.
  • Before first use, wipe the blender handle with a clean damp cloth.
  • Take great care when handling the blender stick and chopping blade; always hold the chopping blade by its plastic spindle.
  • Wipe the blender handle with a damp cloth, then dry.
  • DO NOT immerse the blender handle in water.
  • Wash the attachments in warm soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly before first use.

ASSEMBLING AND DISASSEMBLING THE BLENDER STICK

  1. To assemble the blender handle and blender stick, join them together and turn the blender stick to the right until it locks into place.
  2. To disassemble the blender stick, turn the blender stick to the left to unlock.

  1. To assemble the blender handle, whisk collar and whisk, join the whisk collar onto the blender handle, turning it to the right until it locks into place.
  2. Then insert the whisk rod into the white hole at the end of the collar until it clicks into place.
  3. To disassemble the whisk, pull the whisk from the whisk collar. Turn the whisk collar to the left to unlock from the blender handle.

ASSEMBLING AND DISASSEMBLING THE CHOPPER

  1. To assemble the blender handle, chopping bowl, chopping blade and chopping bowl lid, place the chopping bowl on a dry level surface.
  2. Holding the black spindle on the chopping blade place inside the chopping bowl, locating on the pin in the bottom of the chopping bowl.
  3. Join the chopping bowl lid to the blender handle by turning it to the right until it locks into place.
  4. Place the blender handle and chopping bowl lid on to the chopping bowl, locating on top of the spindle and push together.
  5. To disassemble the chopper, lift the blender handle and chopping bowl lid from the chopping bowl. Turn the chopping bowl lid to the left to unlock. Carefully remove the chopping blade by the spindle remember that the blades are sharp.
  6. The Hand Stick Blender is now ready to use.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

  • When using the Hand Stick Blender for the first time you may notice a slight burning smell. This is normal for a new heating element and will disappear after a few uses.
  • Assemble the blender handle with an attachment, plug in and switch on at the socket.
  • CAUTION: The blending beaker and chopping bowl are not microwave safe.

SPEED CONTROL
Low Speed Button and Variable Speed Dial

  • The top button is low speed and can be used in conjunction with the variable speed dial at the top of the blender handle.
  • Always start with the variable speed dial on low and gradually increase as required.

High Speed Button

  • The bottom button is high speed and is ideal for giving a short burst of powerful speed.

BLENDING

  • Soups, sauces, dips, mayonnaise, milkshakes and baby food can be blended in moments.
  • When blending ingredients like fruit and vegetables they blend best if cut into small pieces about 15mm square.
  • DO NOT blend meat or ice cubes
  • CAUTION: Before preparing baby food, always ensure the blender stick is thoroughly sterilised.
  • Use the blending beaker, your own mixing bowl, or blend directly in a saucepan (take the pan off the heat and allow to cool first).
  • DO NOT use the blender beaker to store food.
  • To prevent splashing, do not fill the blending beaker above 700ml.
  • Always keep a firm hold of the beaker or bowl as you blend.
  • We recommend that you begin blending at low speed, and gradually increase the speed as required.
  • Making sure the blender is unplugged, attach the blender stick onto the blender handle and lock in place. Plug into the mains socket and turn on.
  • Lower the blender into the food before you begin blending, to prevent splashing.
  • Press and hold one of the speed buttons to start blending.
  • For maximum blending power, release the LOW speed button, then press and hold the HIGH speed button.
  • Keep the blender upright and do not let any liquid reach the blender handle.
  • Release the LOW speed or HIGH speed button at any time to stop blending.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The blender should be used for no longer than 30 seconds at a time, or 10 seconds for hard ingredients. After two consecutive uses, let the appliance rest for 3 minutes to prevent over heating.
  • Never blend dry ingredients without adding some liquid.
  • Turn off and unplug the blender at the socket.
  • To detach the blender stick for cleaning, see CARE AND CLEANING. Keeping your hands well away from the blade, as it is sharp.

WHISKING

  • The balloon whisk is suitable for whipping cream, egg whites, light sponge mixes and instant desserts.
  • We recommend that you begin whisking at low speed, and gradually increase the speed as required.
  • Use the blending beaker or your own mixing bowl to whisk.
  • DO NOT use the blender beaker to store food.
  • To prevent splashing, do not fill the blending beaker above 700ml or whisk more than two egg whites as a guide.
  • Always keep a firm hold of the beaker or bowl as you blend.
  • We recommend that you begin blending at low speed, and gradually increase the speed as required.
  • To prevent splashing, lower the whisk into the food before you begin whisking. Press and hold the one of the speed buttons to start blending.
  • For maximum blending power, release the LOW speed button, then press and hold the HIGH speed button.
  • Keep the blender upright and do not let any liquid reach the whisk collar.
  • Release the LOW speed or HIGH speed button at any time to stop blending.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The blender should be used for no longer than 1 minute at a time. After two consecutive uses, let the appliance rest for 3 minutes to prevent over heating.
  • Turn off and unplug the blender at the socket.
  • To detach the blender stick for cleaning, see CARE AND CLEANING. Keep your hands well away from the blades, as it is sharp.

CHOPPING

  • Meat, cheese, onion, fresh herbs, garlic and nuts can all be successfully chopped using the chopping bowl and blade.
  • However, hard foods such as coffee beans, ice cubes, nutmeg and spices will damage the blade and should be avoided
  • When chopping ingredients like fruit and vegetables they blend best if cut into small pieces about 20mm square.
  • DO NOT use the chopping bowl to store food.
  • DO NOT fill above the MAX level on the chopping bowl.
  • Always keep a firm hold of the chopping bowl as you blend.
  • We recommend that you begin blending at low speed, and gradually increase the speed as required.
  • Press and hold one of the speed buttons to start blending.
  • For maximum blending power, release the LOW speed button, then press and hold the HIGH speed button.
  • Keep the chopper upright.
  • Release the LOW speed or HIGH speed button at any time to stop blending.
  • PLEASE NOTE: The blender should be used for no longer than 15 seconds at a time. After two consecutive uses, let the appliance rest for 3 minutes to prevent over heating.
  • Turn off and unplug the blender at the socket.
  • To detach the chopper for cleaning, see CARE AND CLEANING. Keep your hands well away from the blade, as it is sharp.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: Why is the Hand Stick Blender not working?
Answer: Check that the appliance is plugged in and switched on at the socket. Also check that the attachments are correctly locked onto the blender handle, otherwise the blender will not work.

CARE AND CLEANING

  • Switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Clean thoroughly before using for the first time and after every use.
  • Check the parts for wear or damage after every few uses.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
  • Always use plastic, wooden or silicone spatulas.
  • Never immerse the blender handle in water or any other liquid.
  • To clean the blender handle, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly before storing.
  • The attachments can be washed in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher.
  • When you have cleaned the blender stick, place it upright so that any water which may have got inside the blender stick can drain out.
  • CAUTION: The chopping blade and blades on the end of the blender stick are very sharp. Take care when cleaning.
  • For quick cleaning between tasks, half fill the blender beaker with water, with the blender handle and stick assembled, place the blender stick in the water and turn on to blend for a few seconds.
  • If carrots etc. have discoloured the chopping bowl or blending beaker, rub with a cloth dipped in vegetable oil, then wash as normal.
  • NOTE: It is best to rinse the blades straight away after processing very salty food.
  • Store the Hand Stick Blender with the power cable loosely coiled. Never wrap it tightly around the product.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

The appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS1363 which is suitable for use in all homes fitted with sockets to current specifications.

CHANGING THE 5 AMP FUSE

Use a 5 amp BS1362 fuse. Only BSI or ASTA approved fuses should be used. If you are unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified electrician.
Note: After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug which has a fuse cover, the cover must be refitted to the plug; the appliance must not be used without a fuse cover. If lost, replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an electrical shop. This appliance complies with the following EU Directives: 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage Directive) and 2014/30/EU (EMC Directive).
