ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
Crochet hook size L (8 mm)
GAUGE
12 sts + 13 rows = about 4 in (10 cm) over Rows 1-13.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
STITCH EXPLANATION
hdc2tog (dc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a
loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 5 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.
NOTES
1. Headband is worked in one piece, then ends are sewn together to make a
ring.
2. If you’d like to adjust the circumference, simply increase or reduce the
number of rows you crochet before the twist, then increase or reduce the same
number of rows after the twist.
HEADBAND
Ch 15.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – you will have 14 sc
in this row.
Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as first st), turn, dc in next st, Sl st in next st,
rep from until you have 1 st left, dc in last st – 14 sts.
Rep Row 2 until you have a total of 26 rows.
Prepare for twist PART 1:
Row 27: Ch 1 (counts as first st), turn, dc in next st, Sl st in next
st, rep from 2 times, dc in same st
as the last stitch worked – 8 sts.
Rows 28-36: Rep Row 2.
Fasten off.

Prepare for twist PART 2:
Make a slip knot and slip st in the next unworked st from row 26.
Row 27: Ch 1 (counts as 1st st), turn, hdc 1 in same as sl st just made,
Sl st in next st, dc in next st, Sl st in next st, rep from one time, dc in
next st – 8 sts. Rows 28-36: Rep Row 2.
Do not fasten off, continue directly to Row 37.
Twist
On Row 37 you will work across the 8 sts of Prepare for twist Part 1, then
across the sts from Prepare for twist Part 2. This will create a twist.
Row 37: Ch 1 (counts as first st), turn, dc in next st, Sl st in next
st, rep from 3 times, SK last st from Part 2, cross Part 2 in front of Part
1, then crochet the following sts on Part 1: hdc2tog over the first 2 sts, Sl
st in next st, dc in next st, Sl st in next st, rep from until you have 1
st left, dc in last st – 14 sts. Do not fasten off, continue directly to Row
38.
Rows 38-62: Rep Row 2.
Fasten off.
