Impact Series Getting Started

Electrical Connections

Electrical connections to Impact loudspeakers are provided as an integral part of the adjustable wall bracket supplied with each loudspeaker. Follow the details shown in the Rigging Instructions section of this guide.

70 Volt / 100 Volt Line Distributed Systems

Impact series loudspeakers are designed for use in 70 Volt or 100 Volt distributed systems.

  1. Connect loudspeakers to a suitable distribution amplifier, making sure that the maximum sum of the loudspeakers’ transformer taps does not exceed the distribution amplifier’s rated power output.
  2. Adjust the individual loudspeakers’ voltage tap selector to provide the appropriate loudness level.
Low-Impedance Systems

When used as part of a low impedance system, Impact loudspeakers require only one amplifier channel for correct operation. The frequency splitting between the LF driver and the HF driver is accomplished by the internal passive crossover network built into each enclosure.

  1. Connect the loudspeaker to a suitable amplifier, making sure the overall impedance is not lower than the minimum recommended load impedance of the amplifier.
  2. Select the low impedance setting on the voltage tap selector on the bottom of the cabinet. (This is labeled 8 Ω or 16 Ω, depending on your loudspeaker model.)

Installing the Loudspeaker with the Supplied Wall Bracket

The loudspeaker connections are provided as an integral part of the supplied WB-5 wall bracket.

  1. Site the bracket on to the mounting surface, making sure there is sufficient free travel vertically and horizontally to allow full angular adjustment of the loudspeaker, and feed the speaker cables through the main bracket assembly from the rear.

  2. Fix the wall bracket securely to the mounting surface using appropriate fixings. The correct hole spacing and bracket orientation are shown here:
    Installing the Loudspeaker

  3. Terminate the speaker cable by stripping to length and connecting to the bracket assembly, ensuring correct polarity. The right terminal is positive (+ve) and the left terminal is negative (-ve).

  4. Offer the loudspeaker up to the bracket and lock into place with a downward motion. This action automatically closes the electrical connections.
    Installing the Loudspeaker

  5. Angle the loudspeaker as required and lock the bracket using the 5 mm hex key provided.
    Installing the Loudspeaker

Installing the Loudspeaker with other Wall Brackets

When installing Impact loudspeakers with Turbosound CB-10 or WB-10 brackets, or OmniMount™ brackets, you will need to terminate the cables directly at the loudspeaker terminal as shown.

LOUDSPEAKER MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS – FOR QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY

This loudspeaker system may be permanently installed by qualified personnel, using approved methods and materials. Improper installation can pose serious risk of injury or death. Please read these instructions in their entirety before attempting installation.

Permanent installation may only be attempted by persons licensed and qualified by appropriate authorities governing the installation location. Installers are to employ only original parts, brackets, fasteners and suspension accessories or properly rated and certified components from third parties. Replace any missing parts by contacting the authorized Reseller or Distributor in your region. Clarify all local requirements and obtain necessary approvals and permits before commencing work.

When selecting a location for the loudspeaker to be installed ensure that all mechanical, acoustic and safety considerations are observed. Ensure that the structure is capable of supporting the load and that all hardware is rated accordingly with ample safety factor. Do not suspend loudspeaker over areas of public circulation or where failure of the suspension system can cause bodily or property damage. Inspect suspension hardware regularly to ensure integrity.

Loudspeakers radiate a magnetic field, even when they are not in use. This magnetic field may cause interference with other devices such as computers, magnetic media and certain types of video monitors. Maintain a spacing of 2 meters between the loudspeaker and any such devices to prevent interference.

Music Tribe, its affiliates and representatives shall not be liable for any property damage or personal injury arising from the improper installation, use or maintenance of this product.
