Installation

Follow the instructions very closely and step by step.

  • This circle in front of a sentence indicates that you have to do something.
    ▶ This arrow in front of a sentence indicates the result of what you have done.
    Place the TV on a solid base (e.g. a TV/video cabinet). Leave at least 3 cm around each side of the TV for ventilation.
    The TV can only operate at a mains voltage of 220/ 240 V-, 50 Hz; consult your dealer if the mains supply is different.

  • Connect the TV to the mains supply socket.

  • Connect the aerial plug to the socket on the back of the TV.
    Remote control

  • Slide down the battery cover.

  • Insert the batteries, as indicated on the remote control.

  • Slide up the battery cover.

Switching TV on

  • Press POWER on the front of the TV.
    ▶  The TV is switched on. Does a red light on the TV light up? Then the TV is on Stand-by.

  • Press P — or + or a digit button on the remote control, or — or + on the TV, to switch on the TV again.

Stand-by

  • By pressing on the remote control you can temporarily switch the TV off.
    ▶  A red light on the TV lights up.

  • Press P – or + or a digit button on the remote control, or — or + on the TV, to switch on the TV again.

Automatic switch off
If after a period of 15 minutes no aerial signal is received, the TV automatically switches to Stand-by.
Switch off your TV overnight instead of leaving it on Stand-by. You save energy and the picture tube is demagnetised which favours good picture quality.

Storing TV channels

40 TV channels can be stored on program numbers. Write down the TV channels and the assigned program numbers while storing.
Follow carefully steps a, b, C, d.
a. Press .
▶ The current program number and a bar are displayed on the screen.
b . Press to start the search.
▶ The TV automatically searches until a TV channel is found. .

  • If you want to continue searching for a specific TV channel then press again.

C. Press P — or to select the program number (0 to 39 ) where you want to store the TV channel.

  • The selected program number is displayed on the screen.

d. Press to store this selection.
Repeat steps a, b, c, d until all the TV channels you require have been stored on program numbers.

Operation

On Screen Display
The On Screen Display information allows you to see the program number on which a TV channel is stored, the time left, if the sleep-timer is used and the volume bar if the volume is adjusted.

  • Press to display information on the screen.

  • Press again to switch off information.
    Selecting TV channels

  • Press P – or + on the remote control or press one or two digit buttons. or

  • Press — or + on the N.
    Volume control

  • Press — or + on the remote control. or

  • Press /P on the N.
    ▶ A bar is displayed on the screen.

  • Press — or + to adjust the volume. 4 seconds after you have adjusted the volume, the — and ± buttons will work as Program —and + again.

Interrupting the sound

  • Press switch off the sound.
  • Press again or ± to switch on the sound.

To change and store the picture and sound settings
When you switch on the TV, the picture and sound settings have a certain value. This value is initially stored by the factory. Using the menu on screen you can change the setting value according to your personal preference. Also, if you store this value ( by pressing after a change ), the TV will switch on with your stored picture and sound value.

  • Press MENU
    ▶ BRIGHTNESS appears, adjust the brightness by pressing — or +.

  • If you want to store this setting press .

  • Press MENU
    ▶ CONTRAST appears, adjust the contrast by pressing — or +.

  • If you want to store this setting press ) .

  • Press MENU
    ▶ COLOUR appears, adjust the colour by pressing — or +.

  • If you want to store this setting press .

  • Press MENU
    ▶ VOLUME appears, adjust the volume by pressing —or +.

  • If you want to store this setting press .

  • Press MENU
    ▶ The menu disappears.

 If you want to leave the menu, for example after changing the contrast setting, you can either wait approximately 15 seconds or continue to press the MENU button until the menu disappears from the screen.

Sleep-timer
With this feature you can select a time period after which the TV switches automatically to Stand-by mode.

  • Press until the required time period is displayed on the screen. This time period can be set in steps of 15 minutes starting from 90 minutes downwards. The count-down starts immediately after the time period is selected. You can see the remaining time by pressing . During the final minute of the selected time period, the seconds remaining begin to “count down” on the screen, informing you that the TV is going to switch off. At the end of this time period the TV switches to Stand-by mode.

HELP If you want to stop the “Sleep-timer” press until the selected time period displayed on the screen is “00”.

Peripheral equipment

Always read the operating manual supplied with your video recorder or other electronic equipment first.

  • Unplug the aerial plug from your TV and plug it into the aerial input it of your video recorder.
  • Connect an aerial cable to the output of your video recorder and to the aerial input  of your TV.
    To store the signal of your video recorder on a TV program number refer to the section “Storing TV channel?.

Tips

Poor or no picture:
Is your TV set located too close to loudspeakers, unearthed audio equipment or neon lights, etc.? Is the aerial connected properly? Are the plugs tightly connected to the aerial socket and are the connection facilities to any other installed TV in good condition?
Remote control is not working properly:
Probably the batteries are flat, replace the batteries.
No solution
Switch your TV off and on again with the POWER button. Never attempt to repair a defective TV set yourself. Switch off the TV and call your dealer or TV- technician when nothing helps or when:
– A white horizontal stripe appears across the whole screen.
– The red lamp below the screen starts blinking when no buttons are pressed on the remote control.
