INSTRUCTION MANUAL
INFRARED THERMOMETER
Model No.: JXB-315

PRODUCT INTRODUCE

Thank you for purchasing our Kachi Infrared Thermometer JXB-315! All products have been manufactured and tested according to rigorous procedures to ensure the safety of the user.
The device is an infrared thermometer that measures the forehead temperature of infants andadults without contact with the human body.
The JXB-315 non-contact infrared thermometer is developed using the latest infrared technology. This technology allows for the temperature measurement of the temporal artery (TA) taken at a distance of 0~3cm (0~1.2 inches) from the forehead. Thanks to its accuracy, instantaneous, and contactlessness, the Kachi JXB-315 thermometer is by far the most suitable thermometer for zero risk of temperature measurement. This TA temperature measurement has been shown to be more accurate than atrial thermography and better tolerated than rectal thermography. However, as with other thermometers, it is most essential to use the JXB-315 thermometer correctly for reliable and stable results. Therefore, you should carefully read this manual and the safety precautions before using it.

  • Read the instructions carefully before using the product.
  • This device can be used for clinics or for personal use.
  • The device is only allowed to be used within the ambient temperature range between 10°C (50°F) and 40°C (104°F).
  • Do not expose the thermometer to an environment that causes an electric shock.
  • Do not store thermometers in extreme temperatures > 55°C (131°F) or < -20°C (-4°F).
  • Do not use the device in environments with humidity > 85%.
  • Do not touch the infrared lens on the back of the thermometer with your fingers. To clean the glass, please use a cotton pad lightly dampened with 95° alcohol.
  • Do not use or store thermometer under sunlight, water or any other liquid.
  • If the device is damaged or shows signs of damage, please contact our service center for warranty and repair advice. Do not attempt to disassemble, repair or replace any part of the device or the warranty will no longer be valid.
  • Do not use thermometers near active HF surgical equipment and magnetic resonance imaging devices, which may cause a high intensity of EM disturbance.
  • Avoid using the infrared thermometer adjacent to or stacked with another device as it may lead to improper operation. If such use is required, infrared thermometers and other devices should be closely monitored to ensure they are working properly.
  • The use of accessories, probes, and cables that are not specified or supplied by the manufacturer may increase the electromagnetic radiation or reduce the electromagnetic immunity of the thermometer and lead to the failure of the device.
  • Mobile RF communication equipment (including peripherals such as antenna cables and external antennas) should not be used near any part of the thermometer, including cables specified by the manufacturer. Otherwise, the performance of the device will be reduced. The minimum distance between the thermometer and the antenna is 12 inches (30 cm).

BEFORE USING PRODUCT

  • It is not necessary to calibrate the device when starting up.
  • To get stable and reliable results, you should know that there is a significant change in temperature every time due to environmental changes, allowing the JXB-315 to adapt to the ambient temperature within 15 to 20 minutes before use. It is important to allow 3-5 seconds between 2 times measurements.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

All objects, solid, liquid, or gas emit energy by radiation. The intensity of this energy depends on the temperature of the object. Therefore, the infrared thermometer JXB-315 can measure a person’s temperature with the energy that he or she emits. This measurement can be performed using the temperature probe on the device. Therefore, when the user holds the thermometer close to the body and activates the radiation sensor, the measurement will be made immediately by detecting the infrared heat generated by the arterial blood flow. From there, the body temperature can be measured without any interference from the ambient heat.

THE DIFFERENT METHODS OF TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT

Core temperature
Core temperature is the most precise measurement and involves measuring the temperature in the pulmonary artery by means of a catheter equipped with a thermal probe that can read the temperature in the situation. The same method is employed for probes measuring the oesophageal temperature. However, such invasive temperature measurement methods require specific equipment and expertise.
Rectal thermometry
Rectal temperature adjusts slowly in comparison to the evolution of the body’s internal temperature.
It has been demonstrated that rectal temperature remains raised long after the internal temperature of the patient has started to drop and vice versa. Furthermore, rectal perforations have been known to occur as a result of this method and without appropriate sterilization techniques, rectal thermometry can spread germs often found in feces.
Oral thermometry
Oral temperature is easily influenced by recent ingestion of food or drinks and by breathing through the mouth. To measure oral temperature, the mouth must remain closed and the tongue lowered for three to four minutes which is a difficult task for young children to accomplish.
Axillary (armpit) temperature
Although it may be easy to measure axillary temperature, it has been proven that it does not provide an accurate measurement of the child’s internal temperature. To make this type of temperature, the thermometer must be wedged tightly over the axillary artery. Despite the low sensitivity and relative inaccuracy of axillary temperature in detecting fever, this method is recommended by The American Academy of Pediatrics as a screening test for fever in newborns.
Tympanic thermometry
In order to obtain a precise temperature reading, good command of the measurement technique is required. The thermometer probe must be placed as close as possible to the warmest part of the external ear canal.

The temperature of the human body varies throughout the day. It can also be influenced by numerous external factors: age, sex, type, and thickness of skin,…
Advantages of temporal artery (ta) temperature
The temporal artery temperature can be measured using a device placed on the forehead, in the temporal artery area. It has been demonstrated that this relatively new method of temperature measurement is more accurate than the ear temperature and rectal temperature measurement method. The JXB-315 thermometer has been designed to read temporal artery temperatures without any physical contact. Because this artery is quite close to the skin’s surface and is easily accessible from there for the most accurate temperature measurements.
The normal temperature according to age

Age °C °F
0-2 years 36.4-38.0 97.5-100.4
3-10 years 36.1-37.8 97.0-100.0
11-65 years 35.9-37.6 96.6-99.7
>65 years 35.8-37.5 96.4-99.5
  • In order to ensure that precise and accurate temperature measurements are obtained, it is essential that each user has received adequate information on and training in the temperature measurement technique when using such a device.

  • The temperature should be taken in a neutral context. The patient must not have undertaken vigorous physical activity prior to taking his/her temperature and the room temperature must be moderate.

  • Be aware of physiological variations in temperature which must be taken into consideration when evaluating the results: temperature increases by 0.5°C (0.9°F) between 6 am and 3 pm.
Women have a temperature that is higher, on average, by around 0.2°C (0.4°F). Their temperature also varies in accordance with their ovarian cycle. It rises by 0.5°C (0.9°F) in the second half of the cycle and at the early stages of pregnancy.

  • When sitting, the temperature is lower by about 0.3°C (0.6°F) to 0.4°C (0.8°F) than when standing.

HOW TO TAKE A TEMPERATURE

Aim at the middle of the forehead, from a distance of about 0~3cm(0~1.2 in), Press the thermometer’s measurement button, and the temperature is instantly displayed. The reliability of the measurement cannot be guaranteed if the temperature is measured over another part of the body (e.g.arm, torso…).
Note! Please observe the following before any temperature measurement to ensure a stable and reliable result:

  • Push back the hair from the forehead.
  • Wipe away any perspiration from the forehead..
  • Avoid any drafts (e.g. from nasal specs, air conditioning…)
  • Allow a 3~5 seconds interval between two times measurement.
  • Each time there is a significant change in the ambient temperature due to a change in environment, to allow the JXB-315 to acclimatize to this ambient temperature for at least 15 minutes before using it.
