REFERENCE SPEAKERS
BEFORE YOU START
Some Klipsch® speakers have feet and other accessories that may need to be installed prior to use. Please refer to Diagrams 1, 2 and 3 for installation.
ROOM PLACEMENT
Left and Right Main Channel Speakers — For optimum performance, Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI) suggests placing your speakers 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers. Refer to Figures 1 and 3 for connection and placement.
Center Channel Speakers — Center channel speakers are designed to place dialogue and primary sounds so that they appear to come from the video screen. The speakers should therefore be placed as close to the screen as possible, preferably directly on top of or below the screen. Refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3 for connection and placement.
Rear Surround Channel Speakers — Klipsch WDST surround speakers should be placed approximately 2 feet above the listening position. Typically this will be about 5-7 feet above the floor. The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position. The final surround speaker placement depends on your room’s characteristics. They are designed to recreate the sense of space and ambience that many of today’s surround sound technologies provide. Refer to Figures 1, 3 and 4 for connection and placement.
Please note that surround grilles are fixed and cannot be removed.
CONNECTION
Conventional Connection — Using 16-12 gauge speaker wire, connect the RED “positive” (+) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the RED “positive” (+) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel. Connect the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel. Repeat this procedure for connecting all remaining speakers to the appropriate amplifier channels. Refer to Figure 3. Make sure that no bare wires from any of the connections touch any other terminals as this could cause a short and damage your equipment.
Some Klipsch Reference speakers come with dual binding posts that are connected by a metal strip. Do not remove this strip or your speakers will not function correctly. Keep this strip in place and connect your speaker wire to the top set of the binding posts. It is possible to “Bi-wire” a speaker that has two sets of binding posts. Please see your receiver’s manual for further instructions.
Amplifier Requirements — Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime.

Is 7.1 or Dolby Atmos better?****
Dolby Atmos enhances standard Surround 7.1 systems’ sound quality by including overhead sound and better calibration software.
Do you need 7 speakers for Dolby Atmos?****
Although a compelling experience can be achieved with just two Dolby Atmos- capable speakers, modules, or overhead speakers, we advise using four if at all possible. This will produce genuine overhead sounds that are more precisely localized.
Is Klipsch considered audiophile?****
Audiophiles do not hold Klipsch speakers in high regard. They employ inexpensive crossovers, mediocre cabinets, and cheap drivers. For a lot less money, there are speakers with considerably higher audio quality. Klipsch are appealing to people who prefer to play their music loudly and carelessly.
Are Atmos speakers worth it?****
If you want to upgrade your entertainment or set up a home theatre, it’s worthwhile to invest in. Upgrading to Dolby Atmos can improve your audio quality when you’re recording, listening to music, playing video games, or watching movies.
Do Klipsch speakers have good bass?****
It produces accurate high frequencies with a strong bass response thanks to two 6-12-inch copper spun woofers and Klipsch’s infamous Tractrix horn-loaded tweeter.
Should center speaker be above or below TV?****
The center speaker should often be placed immediately beneath the TV. This will most accurately replicate sound emanating from the TV and should be at or near ear level. Directly above the TV is the next-best position if you can’t place it there.
Should I set my center speaker to large or small?****
For timbre matching purposes, your Center channel should typically be set to the same size as your Front L/R speakers. Of course, you should set it to “Small” if your center channel speaker is incapable of handling the full range. Remember that the principal function of the center channel in a surround field is to produce dialogue.
How important is a center channel speaker?****
A home theatre system’s center channel speaker is essential since it reproduces around 70% of the dialogue from movies and television shows. You’re missing out on important details of what you’re watching without one.
Should center speaker be louder than front speakers?****
No, the middle shouldn’t be louder than the fronts when tuned properly. The center is not louder because of the setup’s numbers (or not as loud). These modifications are available to help you accommodate for variations in loudness among speaker models.
How far should Klipsch speakers be from the wall?****
They should be between two and three feet. The bass response will be more impacted by proximity to the wall. The frequency response is uneven and the bass boom when the speaker is too close to the wall. Moving them around an inch or two at a time till it sounds best is basically the only option.
Why do audiophiles prefer bookshelf speakers?****
Many audiophiles who enjoy small-scale music (such as a jazz quartet) adore excellent bookshelf speakers. When you place them on stands far from your walls, their smaller size might make them appear to vanish more than a tower, giving you a fantastic three-dimensional sound stage.
Are expensive bookshelf speakers worth it?****
Even if you solely use Spotify and view videos on YouTube, the quality will improve substantially as you move up the pricing scale. Generally speaking, investing in the priciest speakers is only worthwhile if you work in audio production and consume incredibly high-quality media.
