OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING
Fire or explosion hazard. Attempted disassembly or repair of controls can cause property damage, severe injury or death. Do not disassemble the gas valve; it contains no serviceable components.
Read these instructions carefully. Failure to follow them could result in a fire or explosion causing property dam-age, personal injury, or loss of life. The product must be installed and operated according to all local regulations.

  • BEFORE OPERATING verify that no gas is in the area around the appliance, including near the floor.
    WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:

    • Do not light any appliance.
    • Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building.
    • Immediately call the gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.
    • If you cannot reach the gas supplier, call the fire department.
  • Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas control knobs. Never use tools. If a knob will not push in or turn by hand, don’t try to repair it, call a qualified service technician. Force or attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion.

  • Do not use this control or any gas appliance if any part has been under water or in contact with water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to replace the control system and any gas control system which has been under water or in contact with water.

  • These instructions are to be referenced as a user guide, and do not supersede appliance manufacturer’s lighting instructions.

APPLICATION

TX341 is a battery-powered electronic remote ignition and control system for gas appliances with pilot burners and ODS systems.

GENERAL NOTES

434 MHz for Europe, US, Canada;

Batteries – Remote Handset:

3 x1.5V “AAA” (quality alkaline recommended)
4.5V 100mA

Batteries – Receiver:

4 x 1.5V “AA” (quality alkaline recommended)
6.0V 1500mA

An AC Mains Adapter may be used instead of batteries (only the Grand Mate or an AC Mains Adapter approved by Grand Mate can be used).
NOTE: These remote handsets, receiver, wall switches, are not interchangeable with previous versions.

SETTING DAY AND TIME

After batteries installed, day setting:
Press up or down to select a number to corresponding with the day of the week (eg. 1= Monday, 2=Tuesday, 3=Wednesday, 4=Thursday,
5=Friday, 6=Saturday, 7=Sunday).
Idle 10 seconds or press button to confirm.

SETTING THE ELECTRONICS CODE

(First time use only)
A code is selected automatically for all Grand Mate electronics from among 65,000 random codes available. The receiver had to learn the code of the headset:

  • Slide the ON/OFF/REMOTE slide switch from OFF to REMOTE mode.

  • Press Pairing button, an acoustic signal and green LED flashing.
    Press Receiver's Pairing Button

  • Within the subsequent 10 second press button on the remote handset until you hear two (2) beep confirming the code is set, receiver allow pairing up to 3 remotes simultaneously.

ON:
To activate press up and down buttons simultaneously. Symbol indicated and the handset is rendered inoperable include the off function.
OFF:
To deactivate press down and up buttons simultaneously. Symbol disappears.

MANUAL MODE (HANDSET)

Wiring of valve and receiver must be completed be- fore starting ignition. Failure to do so could damage the electronics.
WARNING: When pilot ignition is confirmed, main flame valve turn on to maximum flame height.

Press and hold buttons to activate appliance to standing pilot. Symbol indicated.
Press and hold buttons to deactivate appliance to standing pilot. Symbol disappeared.
NOTE: Standing pilot available to activate or deactivate.

  • Main burner and rear burner turn on once pilot ignition is confirmed.
  • Main gas goes Max flame height first, and will goes last flame height memory.
  • Handset automatically goes into Manual mode after main burner ignition.

FLAME HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT

To increase flame height press UP button. Max flame height is 5.
To decrease flame height press DOWN button. Min flame height is 1.

There is a 3 second delay before the next ignition is possible.

CHANGING THE MODE OF THERMOSTAT

During the appliance flame on, briefly pressing the button changes the mode of thermostat in the following order:

MODE OF THERMOSTAT – SET MODE

In Set mode, indicated. Room temperature is measured from hand-set and compared to the set tempera-ture. The flame height modulated be-tween last setting and off to achieve the set temperature.

MODE OF THERMOSTAT - SET MODE 01

Press down or up buttons to change set temperature.
Note: The default set temperature is 22°C (72°F). Set temperature range from 7°C (45°F) to 35°C (95°F).

While ambient temperature equal or lower than 10℃ (50℉) will appear LO.

MODE OF THERMOSTAT - SET MODE 02

Handset can still operate all the functions except display ambient temperature, while ambient temperature higher than 10℃ (50℉) then recovery display.

While ambient temperature equal or greater than 37℃ (99℉) will appear HI.

MODE OF THERMOSTAT - SET MODE 03

Handset will transmit a shutdown signal to appliance.

In Set mode, SET indicated. press and hold buttons to enter SWING setting.

Briefly pressing Down or Up button to changes the range of SWING, idle 10 seconds or press button to confirm.
Note: The THERMO mode on the transmitter operates with TEMPERA-TURE DIFFERENTIAL (also called variation “SWING”).
A lower SWING increases the number of cycles so the room temperature is updated more of-ten which consume more battery power. A higher SWING decreases the number of cycles, so the tolerance of ROOM temperature is higher, but it lower consume from battery.
While ℉ selected, default SWING is 2℉. SWING range from ±2℉, ±4℉, ±6℉, ±8℉.
While ℃ selected, default SWING is 1℃. SWING range from ±1℃, ±2℃, ±3℃, ±4℃.

MODE OF OPERATION – TIMER MODE

In Timer mode, indicated. At the end of countdown time period, the fire turns off.

Press and hold button to check the timer mode set temperature.
Press up or down to change set temperature.
To cancel thermostat function in timer mode, press down button to change set temperature to — .

MODE OF OPERATION - TIMER MODE 02

Note: There are individual set temperature memories for SET and BUSY. Set temperature show for 5 seconds every 25 seconds.

MODE OF OPERATION – PROGRAM MODE

In program mode, symbol indicated. Appliance thermostat according to set temperature and period between ON time and OFF time.
Press and hold specific button to enter settings.

Briefly pressing down or up button to changes the mode of thermostat in the following order:

Briefly pressing Down or Up to 1/2 can check ON Temp default is 22°C (72°F).
Press button to enter ON Temp setting, pressing down or up buttons to change the temperature, press button or idle for 10 sec to save and exit to next setting.

MODE OF OPERATION - PROGRAM MODE 04

Except 1/2 ON, press button to enter ON time and OFF time setting, to change the time, press button, then press down or up to change the hour, press button or idle for 10 sec to enter minute setting.
Press down or up buttons to change the minute, press button or idle for 10 sec save and exit to next setting.

MODE OF OPERATION - PROGRAM MODE 05While complete all settings, Idle for 10 sec to save and exit to program mode.

  • Default settings:
    Program 1: 1 ON : 23:45 1 OFF: 23:45
    Program 2: 2 ON : 23:45 2 OFF: 23:45

  • Two ON times can be programmed per day

  • The ON/OFF times have to be programmed

SLEEP MODE

While handset is idle for 1 minutes, it will turn into sleep mode.
Clock will remain working, and display ambient temperature.

MISCELLANEOUS

Low Battery Indication
Low battery indicator indicates.

Battery Replacement
Battery replacement is recommended at the beginning of each heating season. Do not use metal tools to remove bat-teries. Using a metal tool could cause a short that may damage the receiver.

Factory Reset
Remove battery, press and hold and install battery, backlight flash rapidly 3 times represent factory reset complete.
