User Manual
Overview
Thank you for purchasing our banknote counters IMC08.
After starting the machine, it will go on self-check automatically. If the
preset window shows the error code or tells you to clean the sensors,
generally speaking, it is because of dust on the surface or the sensor blocked
by notes. So please clear the dust on the surface with a brush or soft cloth,
or take the notes away. Then restart the machine. This document describes the
error handling guideline and the maintenance manual.
ATTENTION:
- The unit should always be turned off and disconnected from its power cord before cleaning. DO NOT use solvents such as thinner, alcohol, etc. to clean the machine
- Most operational problems can be avoided by regular care and preventative maintenance. Taking regular care of the machine will significantly increase its lifetime.
- To avoid problems, make sure there are no metal clips or rubber bands in the bills being counted. Be sure to follow the proper procedure for loading the hopper.
- For best results, it is recommended to use an air duster and a soft bristle brush to remove any dust or debris from the interior of the unit. When not using the machine for an extended period of time, cover it with a dust cover (not included with the unit) to prevent dust from settling inside.
- All parts of the machine need daily care and cleaning. Pay close attention to the sensors, which are delicate components. If any dust or other foreign matter adheres to the sensors, it may cause various problems during operation of the machine.
Cleaning the Machine
Any dust, dirt, or other substances sticking to the sensor will interfere with
the normal operation of the sensor and cause erroneous counting results.
Therefore, the sensor and roller shaft shall be cleaned with the attached
cleaning tools as necessary every day.
Please turn off the power switch before cleaning to prevent electric shock or
other injury accidents.
Please do not use chemicals such as benzene, thinner, or water.
-
Clean the Hopper
There are 3 parts that need to be cleaned in the hopper: hopper sensor, banknote processing wheel, and the banknote entrance, please use the nylon brush to clean them. -
Clean the Stacker and Reject Pocket
As shown in the following figure, clean the stacker and reject pocket with a nylon brush or cleaning cloth. Focus on the marked areas.

Bill Jam
There are several conditions to make the bill jam happen.
-
The bill size is out of the range according to IMC08 specification.
-
The banknote is damaged in different ways such as lack of corner, tape, hole, tear, and folded. As shown in Figure 3-1, it is not recommended to count this kind of bill.
-
The banknote entrance is so small that the banknote cannot pass through it smoothly. In this case, you need to fine tune the screw by rotating it clockwise according to section 3.6.
-
Another abnormal operation or there is an unknown thing inside the IMC08. If something is inside the IMC08, you need to open the back cover to check and clean the internal sensors.
If the bills are stuck inside the machine, please turn off the machine and open the back cover to take the jammed bills.
1. Bill stuck in the feeding port (PS1 Error)
If the bills are stuck inside the feeding port, please turn off the machine and rotate the banknote processing wheel down.
CAUTION: ALWAYS ENSURE THE MACHINE IS OFF BEFORE PUTTING HANDS/FINGERS NEAR THE PROCESSING WHEEL OR SLOT.
2. Bill stuck in the inside of the machine (PS3R Error)
PS3R Error will appear when a bill is stuck inside the IMC08, please follow the method below to remove the banknote.
Open the back to check if a stuck bill on the inside of the machine. If it is, just remove the bill to fix the problem.
CAUTION: ALWAYS ENSURE THE MACHINE IS OFF BEFORE PUTTING HANDS/FINGERS ON THE INSIDE OF THE MACHINE.
3. Bill stuck in the reject pocket (TD Error)
When a bill is stuck in the reject pocket of IMC08, a TD Error will appear. Please follow the method below to remove the banknote.
If the screen displays the TD Error as the picture shows, please fix it by following steps.
– Check if the bill was stuck and remove the stuck bill according to this video: http://munbyn.biz/08billjamming
– If there is still a TD Error problem, Please disassemble the machine to check if the TD Cable is disconnected according to this video: https://munbyn.biz/TDError
4. The number of banknotes is not accurate (Size Recognition Error)
To lose the feeding gap causes two bills to pass through at the same time, and the two bills that pass through at the same time will enter the reject port, but the number of bills at the reject port only shows an increase of 1, resulting in a counting error.
At this time, you can solve the counting problem by turning the screw counterclockwise, adjusting the feeding gap according to section 3.5, and tightening the feeding gap until just one bill can pass through. -
Sensor Errors
The IMC08 banknote counter will take a few seconds to conduct a self-check with spinning the counting wheels after power on. The IMC08 will check the sensors, the following errors may happen if the sensors have been blocked or damaged.
1. Hopper Sensor Error
If the wheels in the hopper are consistently spinning after the machine powers on, and then stop with the “hopper sensor error”, the hopper sensor is too sensitive.
2. Stacker Sensor Error
Please use the marker pen to paint a little on the hopper sensor as shown in the above figure.
If the impeller is always spinning, or the “stacker sensor error” indicated on the screen, that means the stacker sensor doesn’t work or is too sensitive.
3. Counting Sensor Error
If the number of banknote counting is always not correct, that means the counting sensor error doesn’t work. Please clean the machine first.
If the error still happens, please contact us for machine repair. -
Feeding Gap Calibration
The screw above is used to control the width of the feeding gap. You can use a
coin to adjust the gap easily.
The width will become bigger by rotating the screw clockwise toward the
biggest dot. Turn counterclockwise to decrease the gap.
To fine tune the feeding gap, do the following:
-
Turn off the auto counting feature.
-
Insert one banknote into the gap between the rollers to check if the banknote can be inserted smoothly, as shown in the following.
If the banknote is hard to insert, that means the feeding gap is too small. Rotate the screw clockwise until the banknote can be inserted smoothly. If the feeding gap is so large that two or more banknotes can be inserted into the feeding gap, please rotate the screw counterclockwise until the gap can just allow one banknote at a time. -
Use the banknote to check the other sides of the gap between rollers, to make sure the banknote can be inserted into both sides of the feeding gap smoothly.
The IMC08 needs different gaps for different currencies but otherwise should
stay consistent. Having the correct feeding gap adjusted will ensure smooth
operation as well as a trouble-free experience. You may need to do some trial
and error before getting it perfectly smooth.
You may also wish to make his adjustment over time, When the banknotes are not
fed smoothly through the machine or several error messages are occurring often
such as Bill Double Error, Chain Notes Error, or Half Notes Error.
Other reasons that might require readjusting the feeding gap are:
- The counting of new or mint condition bills.
- The counting of poor or badly deteriorated bills.
- Polymer notes and paper-made notes counted together.
CIS Calibration
CIS calibration is often needed when there are many errors during the banknote counting process.
-
Please enter the main menu. Next, go to the service menu with the password “9999”, as shown in the following figures.
-
Click the “CIS Calibration” option, shown below:
-

-
The bill size is out of the range according to IMC08 specification.
-
The banknote is damaged in different ways such as lack of corner, tape, hole, tear, and folded. As shown in Figure 3-20, it is not recommended to count this kind of bill.
-
The banknote entrance is so small that the banknote cannot pass through it smoothly. In this case, you need to fine tune the screw by rotating it clockwise according to the following section.
-
Another abnormal operation or there is an unknown thing inside the IMC08. If something is inside the IMC08, you need to open the back cover to check and clean the internal sensors.

Perform CIS calibration
Open the back cover of IMC08 to clean it, and then perform CIS calibration
according to section 3.7.
Adjust the detection level
If there is still an error after CIS calibration, it means that the
sensitivity of IMC08 is too high. We can adjust the detection level according
to the following steps to increase the acceptance of IMC08 to some old
banknotes.
Long Press “MENU” key → Press “Service Menu” → Enter”9999″ → Choose ”
⑧Detection Level” → Adjust the “MT”, “MG”, “UV”, “CIS IR” to level 1.
Motor Error
-
First, confirm whether there is a banknote stuck in the feeding port. If there is a banknote stuck in the feeding port, please refer to section 3.3 to take out the banknote and calibrate the feeding port.
-
Open the back cover to check if there is any foreign matter left inside, use the included dust-free cloth IMC08 inside, and close the back cover after cleaning.
-
If you have checked the inside of IMC08 and there is nothing left, the money counter still has a motor error when it is turned on. This may be caused by the opto counting sensor not being installed properly, or the sensitivity of the stacker’s opto counting sensor is insufficient. Follow the steps below to check the opto counting sensor
a. As shown in the figure below, take out the reject board
b. Follow the picture below to open the left shell of IMC08
c. Follow the picture below to open the protective cover.
d. Check whether the screw of the Opto counting sensor is loose, and tighten it if it is loose.
e. If the screws are not loose, this should be the problem of insufficient sensitivity of the Opto counting sensor.
According to the picture below, swap the two opto counting sensors.
f. After swapping the Opto counting sensor, reinstall the protective cover and the outer shell.
