THE RIGHT LOCATION
THE RIGHT LOCATION
The BONECO appliance releases more than half a liter of water into the air per
hour. This makes it important to set up the appliance in the right location.
Do not place the BONECO appliance directly on the floor, since the moisture
from the mist can damage floor surfaces such as parquet or delicate carpeting.
Make sure that the appliance stands about one foot (30 centimeters) away from
the closest wall. Do not direct the mist toward the wall, plants, furniture or
other objects in order to prevent water condensation from damaging them.
Maintain a distance of at least 20 inches (50 cm).

SAVE SETTINGS The BONECO
appliance saves the last-used settings when it is switched off. However, if
the appliance is disconnected from the power supply for a few seconds, it will
start in operating mode.
“ AUTO” COMFORT MODE
After the unit is switched on, it is in AUTO -Mode. The desired relative
humidity (rH) is preset to 50%. The unit chooses the appropriate output level
Low “L” / Medium “M” / High “H”, in order to attain the value of 50% rH as
quickly as possible. In -Mode, the rH can be changed at any time by using the
button. If the output level is changed by using button , the AUTO -Mode
turns off and the unit is operated manually.
The heater can be switched on or off without the appliance leaving AUTO
mode. mode also re- mains active when setting the timer.
To return to AUTO mode, tap the symbol once.
CONTROLLING HUMIDITY
The humidity can be set between 30% and 70%. In the “Co” setting (for
“Continuous”), the ultrasonic runs regardless of the measured humidity. This
means it does not switch off until the tank is empty or the appliance is
switched off.
- Tap the symbol. The current humidity indicator starts flashing.
- While the indicator is flashing, tap the symbol again until the desired humidity is set. The value is applied after a few seconds. The indicator stops flashing.
REGULATING PERFORMANCE
- Tap the symbol multiple times until the desired level appears on the display.
The symbol on the display indicates which of the three levels (low/medium/high) has been selected:
COMFORT FUNCTIONS
SWITCHING THE HEATER ON AND OFF
The BONECO appliance is equipped with a heater that can be turned on and off.
It warms the outgoing mist up to approximately 95 °F (35 °C), so that the room
temperature stays at a comfortable level.
It takes a few minutes until the heater reaches its full output.
- Tap the symbol once to switch on or off the heater.
FRAGRANCE CONTAINER
Commercially available scented aromatic substances for humidifiers can be
added to the fragrance container on the back of the BONECO appliance.
Never add the aromatic substance directly into the water tank or water base;
doing so will damage the BONECO appliance and void the warranty!
- Press down on the fragrance container to unlock the drawer.
- Sprinkle the cotton wadding in the drawer with the fragrance of your choice.
TIMER FUNCTIONS
The timer function lets you determine how long the BONECO appliance should run
before it switches off automatically (OFF timer).
Alternatively, you can specify a time for when the appliance should switch on
automatically (ON timer). For example, you can use this function to activate
the BONECO appliance before you return home, so that when you get back you
have the perfect home climate waiting for you.

- Tap the symbol multiple times until the desired run time is displayed. Now the BONECO appliance will run for the specified time and then switch off.
- To deactivate the OFF timer early, switch the BONECO appliance off and back on as needed.
SETTING THE ON TIMER
- Switch off the BONECO appliance.
- Tap the symbol multiple times until the desired standby time is displayed. The BONECO appliance switches on after the defined time and operates with the selected settings.
- To deactivate the ON timer early, switch the BONECO appliance off and back on as needed.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
With time and use, the performance of the A250 decreases and scale builds up
on the inner parts of the BONECO appliance. Stagnant water can also impair
cleanliness and lead to unpleasant odors. This means regular maintenance and
cleaning is necessary to ensure clean and unimpaired operation.
Recommended cleaning and maintenance intervals vary depending on air and water
quality and operating time. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior.
Always unplug the unit from the power outlet before cleaning.
Interval | Task |
---|---|
Daily | Check the water level; add water if necessary |
After 1 week without operation | Empty and clean the BONECO appliance |
Every 2 weeks | Clean the water base and water tank |
Every 2 – 6 months | Replacing the A250 |
CLEANING AND DESCALING
DESCALING
If stubborn limescale deposits form at the bottom of the BONECO appliance, the
appliance must also be descaled in addition to the cleaning. For this process,
use the provided “EZCal” descaling agent. You can get replacement parts at
your BONECO specialist dealer or at the online store under
www.shop.boneco.us
-
Disconnect the BONECO appliance from the power outlet.
The unit must always be unplugged from the power outlet before draining it. Failure to do so can result in electric shock and pose the risk of severe or fatal injury! -
Empty the water tank.
Tip the long side of the BONECO appliance towards the sink (with the viewing window facing down). This prevents water from getting into the air outlet and damaging the unit. -
Remove the A250.
-
Mix 1 bag of EZCal with 32 oz. (1 liter) of water and pour the mixture into the water tank, one-half to the left and right each.
-
Wait 30 minutes to allow the solution to take effect.
-
Rinse the water tank with tap water. Remove remaining lime residue, if any, using a scrub brush.
-
Rinse the inside of the water tank with fresh tap water.
-
Reinsert the A250.
REMOVING MINERAL DEPOSITS
Mineral deposits on the membrane can be removed using the yellow cleaning
brush attached to the cover of the BONECO appliance.
Never clean the membrane using sharp objects or aggressive cleaning agents;
doing so can damage the BONECO appliance and voids the warranty!
CLEARING THE CLEANING MESSAGE
After completion of cleaning, delete the message by pressing the button and
holding it for 2 seconds.
ON THE A250
PREPARING THE A250
Please observe the accompanying manual for starting up the A250.
ON WATER HARDNESS
The BONECO U250 is supplied with the A250. The granulate contained in it
filters the lime out of the tap water so that it is not released into the room
air. Hard tap water accelerates saturation of the granulate, making it
necessary to replace the A250 earlier. Dispose of the saturated A250 with your
regular household waste.
White dust around the appliance is a sure indication that the A250 is fully
worn out.
REPLACING THE A250
The A250 must be replaced every 2 to 6 months. In cases of very hard water, it
may have to be replaced sooner. White dust around the appliance is a sure
indication that the A250 is fully worn out. Please observe the accompanying
manual for starting up the A250. The used A250 can be disposed of with your
regular household waste.
