Attaching a Switch Insert
On the edge of the Beauty Dish Switch ring, locate the 3 metal tabs and the
thumb lock. Slide the Switch Insert (sold separately) under the 3 tabs while
shifting the thumb lock outwards. Once in place, release the thumb slide to
secure.
Opening a Beauty Dish Switch
Hold the Beauty Dish Switch in one hand by grasping the Insert and opening
the Beauty Dish Switch. Slide the included deflector plate through the ribs
and snap it into place on the Beauty Dish’s center shaft.
With the opposite hand, press down on the runner towards the center shaft and
slide into place. Rotate runner until you feel the Beauty Dish lock into place
and the fabric appears taut.
Mounting a Strobe or Constant Light
Place your light source onto a light stand.
After affixing your light source’s compatible Switch Insert (sold separately) to the Beauty Dish, align the ring with the face of your light.
Secure the Beauty Dish Switch to your light source. Refer to your light source manual for proper mounting methods.
Mounting a Speedlight
After attaching the Switch FJ80 Insert #2544 or Speedlight Insert #2541 (sold separately) to the Beauty Dish Switch, locate the two pins on the Speedlight Insert. While pressing the longer pin, rotate the adapter mount counter- clockwise until it locks into place.
Locate the shoe mount filter bracket included with the Switch Speedlight Insert. Align the bracket’s screw to the channel located on the insert. Tighten screw to secure bracket at the height required for your Speedlight.
Loosen tension knob on the base of the tilter bracket and place on a light stand. Tighten tension knob to secure.
Loosen the tension screw on the side of the cold shoe bracket and slide your
Speedlight into place. Tighten screw to secure.
Utilize the cold shoe’s lower tension knob to adjust the speedlight’s distance
from the Beauty Dish Switch.
Attaching Diffusion Fabric
To attach the outer diffusion fabric, simply press the fabric’s loop edge onto the Beauty Dish Switch’s hoop edge until fabric is taut.
Changing Switch Inserts
Turn the light off and allow it to cool. Release the modifier from the light source (when applicable) and gently pull away from the light source.
To remove your Switch Insert, locate the thumb lock on the rear of the Beauty Dish Switch, slide outward, and gently pull.
Caution
- Failure to properly lock the Insert in place may cause damage to the Beauty Dish Switch and light.
- Failure to confirm that the Beauty Dish Switch is securely assembled could place unnecessary stress on the ribs and can cause permanent damage to your Beauty Dish Switch.
- Failure to secure your light to the Beauty Dish Switch could result in damage to your equipment.
- Failure to secure your Speedlight could result in damage to your light.
The Beauty Dish Switch is heat-rated for up to a maximum of 650-watts.
