Clinician Application Instructions
Before using the device, please read the instructions for use completely and carefully. Correct application is vital to the proper functioning of the device.
APPLICATION:
To ensure proper fit, if possible, product should be sized on patient pre- operatively.
Proper Orientation & Sizing
ORIENTATION : The UltraSling® Pro is shipped in a RIGHT configuration.
For
LEFT shoulder, remove the arm sling from the cushion. Flip cushion over so
contoured
end of pillow is positioned to back of elbow. Center and reattach the arm
sling on the cushion.
SIZING FOR SMALLER PATIENTS: The sling envelope is Universal but may be sized down for smaller patients. The Sling length should extend to metacarpal ‘knuckles’ to support arm, wrist and hand. To size down for smaller patients remove the forearm (ii) and thumb (iv) straps from arm sling envelope and set aside. Disengage shoulder strap quick release buckles (iii) (Fig. A) Fold the envelope back into itself allowing the hook squares inside sling to engage on material along inside top edge. (Fig. B)
Step 1. Apply Arm Sling with Abduction Pillow
Remove forearm (ii) and thumb (iv) straps from arm envelope and set aside.
Disengage shoulder strap quick release buckles. (iii) (Fig. A)
Position cushion at waist / hip level. Place forearm into arm envelope as far
back as possible. Secure forearm strap (ii) and thumb strap (iv). Elbow should
be at 90°. (Fig. C)
Step 2. Apply Waist Strap
Disengage the waist strap quick release buckle on front of cushion and wrap
strap around back of patient. Secure with quick release buckle (i). (Fig. D).
Adjust/Trim waist belt for proper fit.
Step 3. Apply Shoulder Ring
The Shoulder Ring may be applied with or without the shoulder straps and
Swivel Tabs attached. Proper position of Swivel Strap Tabs will require
adjustment as noted in Step 4. Lengthen both shoulder straps to longest length
for first time fitting.
Open the Shoulder Ring and wrap under arm, then over top of shoulder and secure ring with hook and loop closure (Fig. E). Adjust the shoulder ring circumference for secure fit. NOTE: The hook and loop closure of shoulder ring should be facing up and away from patient with widest ends over top of shoulder. Secure shoulder strap Quick Release Buckles at front of sling.
Step 4. Position of Swivel D-Ring Strap Tabs
Adjust the front and back Swivel Strap Tabs so they are approximately 1”- 2” from top of shoulder. (Fig. F1 (front)- F2 (back) Placement of the Swivel D-Ring Strap Tabs on the shoulder ring helps to maintain straps and arm in proper position.
BRACE REMOVAL:
Detach quick release buckles, remove forearm strap, thumb strap and waist
belt. Slowly remove brace.
SIZING AND CONFIGURATION:
ARM SLING SIZE MEASUREMENT
S/M 10.5”-15” (26.7cm-38.1cm)
L/XL 15+” (38.1+cm)
EXTRA LENGTH SHOULDER STRAP
Accessory strap available (Part #: 25-0447). Strap is 28” in length for improved fit on patients with longer torso or higher BMI.
WAIST BELT:
The UltraSling® Pro fits waist sizes 25”– 63” (63.5cm–160cm). Adjust waist
belt and trim as necessary for proper fit.
OPTIONAL CUSHION:
The UltraSling® Pro may be worn without the cushion as needed. Remove Arm
Sling from Cushion. Remove the Waist Strap from Cushion and adhere the Y-Strap
to back and front of arm sling. The quick release buckle on waist strap should
be at the front of arm sling for ease of removal.
INTENDED USER PROFILE:
The user should be able to: Read and understand the directions, warnings and
cautions.
INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS:
Post-operative rotator cuff repairs, Bankart procedures, Capsular shifts,
Glenohumeral dislocation/subluxation, Soft tissue strains/repairs.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: None.
WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS:
If you experience any pain, swelling, sensation changes, or any unusual
reactions while using this product, consult your medical professional
immediately.
CLEANING & STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Hand wash in water (86°F/30°C), using mild soap. Air dry.
NOTE: If not rinsed thoroughly, residual soap may cause irritation and
deteriorate material.
Do NOT iron.
Do NOT tumble dry.
Do NOT bleach.
MATERIAL CONTENTS:
Nylon, Polypropylene, Polyurethane Foam, Cotton, Laminate Foam/Tricot,
Polyacetal, Polyester, Acetal.
WARRANTY:
DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories
for material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date
of sale. To the extent the terms of this warranty are inconsistent with local
regulations, the provisions of such local regulations will apply.
Intended for single patient use.
