Setting Up C-Reach
How to Set Up your C-Reach in the Cync app
Pairing to the CYNC App
- Open the Cync app.
- To begin setup, select Add Devices at bottom of your home screen.
- Select the device type C-Reach and follow the instructions in the app.
Helpful Tips
- Make sure you are connecting to the 2.4GHz band on your Wi-Fi router. Cync is not compatible with 5 GHz networks.
- Be sure Wi-Fi on your phone is turned on.
- Do not block the outlet your C-Reach is plugged into with furniture or anything that could interfere with the Wi-Fi signal
- C-Reach is only compatible with Cync and C by GE Bluetooth light bulbs and strips – not Direct Connect light bulbs and strips. If you have these devices in your app home, you will need to create another home in app to setup your C-Reach and Bluetooth lights.
Troubleshooting
Can’t find C-Reach device network during setup:
- Confirm C-Reach is plugged in and the LED indicator is blinking.
- Make sure your C-Reach is in the same room as your router.
- Confirm that your phone has access to the internet, either through Wi-Fi or Cellular Data.
- Unplug the C-Reach for three seconds, then plug it back in.
Home Wi-Fi network not displaying in the Cync app during setup:
- Turn your phone’s Bluetooth on.
- Confirm your Wi-Fi Router is powered on and broadcasting. You can check this by going to Settings on your mobile phone and looking for your Wi-Fi network.
- If your router is powered on, but not broadcasting, contact your Internet Service Provider.
- In the Cync app, where your Wi-Fi network should be displaying, refresh the screen by navigating away and then back to the screen.
- After the refresh, if your network still doesn’t display, enter your Wi-Fi credentials manually.
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the C-Reach location. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal bars on your phone when in the same location.
- If you do not have a strong signal strength:
- Move the C-Reach closer to your router.
- Power cycle the C-Reach by unplugging it, then plugging it back in.
Home Wi-Fi network is displaying in the Cync app, but you are unable to connect your C-Reach to the network:
- Confirm your Wi-Fi Router is powered on and broadcasting. You can check this by going to your phone’s settings and looking for your Wi-Fi network.
- If your router is powered on, but not broadcasting, contact your Internet Service Provider.
- Confirm you are on a 2.4 GHz network. Cync is not compatible with 5 GHz networks.
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the C-Reach location. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal bars on your phone when in the same location.
- If you do not have a strong signal strength:
- Move the C-Reach closer to your router.
- Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the location of your C-Reach. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal strength on your phone when in the same location.
- Confirm you have the correct Wi-Fi network and password.
- Power cycle the C-Reach by unplugging it then plugging it back in.
If these tips do not resolve your issue, you may need to factory reset your device. Resetting the device will require you to set it up in the app again. Any settings, scenes, or schedules for the device will be deleted.
