Camera Settings

These settings can help optimize the Cync Indoor Smart Camera to meet the needs of your smart home.

Video + Recording Settings

Live Video Quality

  • Allows the user to set the default video quality to either 720p or 1080p.

Flip Video

  • If you have mounted the camera on a ceiling or other surface so that it is upside down, this setting will flip the video 180 degrees to appear correctly in the app and recordings.

Time Watermark

  • This will enable or disable the timestamp that is displayed in the live stream and recordings.

IR Night Vision

  • This setting controls the night vision feature of the camera:
    • Auto (Default): Whenever there is low light, the IR LEDs will turn on to enable night vision automatically. They will turn off again when there is sufficient ambient light.
    • Off: This will disable the IR LEDs from turning on regardless of the ambient light level. This setting should be used whenever the camera is pointed out of a window, as the IR LEDs can reflect off the glass and cause poor image quality.
    • On: This will force the IR LEDs to always be on. This should only be used if ambient light is very low and Auto mode does not adequately engage/disengage the IR LEDs automatically.

Record Audio

  • This will enable or disable audio during video recordings.

SD Card

  • This includes several settings for managing the optional microSD card for local video clip storage. Users can enable or disable the use of the microSD card, view storage utilization, and format a new card if needed.

Detection Settings

This section controls how your camera detects motion and/or sound, and subsequently how it records those events and alerts you about them.

Motion Detection

  • Enables or disables motion detection

Motion Sensitivity

  • Sets the threshold for how much motion is required to trigger recording and an alert. Low sensitivity will generate less frequent alerts because more motion is required to trigger an event. High sensitivity will generate more alerts because only a small amount of motion is required to trigger an event.

Zone

  • This enables the user to draw a rectangular motion zone over their camera feed. Alerts will only be generated for motion that occurs inside this user-defined zone. To enable the motion zone, the “Enabled Motion Zone” box must be checked.

People Detection

  • Enabling this option will filter motion recordings and alerts only for motion that is caused by people. The camera uses artificial intelligence to determine if motion was caused by a person, as opposed to things like vehicles or small pets.

Noise Detection

  • Enables or disables noise detection, which will trigger an event if sound is detected even without corresponding motion.

Noise Sensitivity

  • Sets the threshold for the intensity of noise required to trigger recording and an alert. Low sensitivity will generate less frequent alerts because louder noise is required to trigger an event. High sensitivity will generate more alerts because only a small amount of noise is required to trigger an event.

Status LED

  • Determines whether the LED on the front of the camera will remain on (green) during normal operation.

Notifications

  • Turning on notifications will ensure that any events triggered by your detection settings are sent to your mobile phone (requires the app to be installed on the phone and logged into your account).
