Setting Up Indoor Cameras

How to Set Up your Cync Indoor Camera in the Cync App

Pairing to the Cync App

  1. Plug in the Indoor Camera within range of your Wi-Fi router
  2. Open the Cync App
  3. To begin setup, select  Add Devices  at bottom of your home screen
  4. Select the device type  Camera  and follow the instructions on the app screens

As you’re pairing your camera to the app, you will have the option to share the camera’s live feed and recordings with Guest users. You can add new Guest Users and update permissions under Settings at any time.

Review, save and share clips with Cam Cync, and/or to a microSD card (sold separately).

Helpful Tips:

  • Make sure you are connecting to the 2.4GHz band on your Wi-Fi router. The Indoor Camera is not compatible with 5GHz networks. iOS users will need to connect their phone to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.
    • For users with a router that combines both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands into a single SSID, just connect to that SSID and the camera will automatically use the 2.4GHz band.
  • Be sure the camera is in setup mode. The LED indicator will blink blue when it’s in setup mode. If the LED light is not blinking blue during setup, take a paper clip and insert into the reset pinhole on the back of the camera. Press and hold down for 3 seconds to reset the device.
  • If this isn’t your first time attempting set up, you may need to factory reset your device.

Troubleshooting Tips

Why isn’t the camera scanning the QR code?

  • Confirm the camera is plugged in.
  • Make sure the camera is still in setup mode. The LED indicator will be blinking blue.
  • If you haven’t already, remove the plastic film over the camera lens.
  • Confirm the Privacy Shutter in the camera is lowered and not blocking the lens.
  • Hold your phone about 6 inches in front of the camera lens when the QR code is displayed.
  • Set phone brightness to 100%
  • Power cycle the camera by unplugging it, then plugging it back in.
  • Clean the camera lens.

Why do I need to update my devices in app?

  • It is important to keep your device’s firmware updated regularly. This will ensure that the devices are functioning properly, and all your smart products work together to provide the best user experience.

Why did an update fail during setup?

There are many reasons why a firmware update may have failed during execution. If a failed update occurs, try the update again. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, then one of these common issues may be the cause:

  • Ensure your phone is connected to the internet using either mobile data or Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure the Wi-Fi router that your camera is connected to is powered on and broadcasting. Wi-Fi enabled devices need to be connected to the internet to complete firmware updates.
  • Move the camera closer to your router if signal strength is poor.

Why can’t I connect the camera to my home Wi-Fi network?

If you’re having issues connecting to your home Wi-Fi network, here are some common solutions:

  • Make sure your phone is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network prior to setup.
  • Confirm your Wi-Fi Router is powered on and broadcasting. You can check this by going to Settings on your mobile phone and looking for your Wi-Fi network.
  • If your router is powered on, but not broadcasting, contact your Internet Service Provider or router manufacturer.
  • Make sure you are connecting to the 2.4GHz band on your Wi-Fi router. . The Indoor Camera is not compatible with 5GHz networks. Dual-band networks that combine the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals into one SSID are compatible as well.
  • Check your Wi-Fi signal strength at the camera’s location. You can do this by looking at the Wi-Fi signal strength on your phone. 1 or 2 bars indicates that the signal may not be strong enough for the camera to connect, or remain connected consistently.
  • If you do not have a strong signal strength:
    • Move the camera closer to your router or install a Wi-Fi repeater.
    • If you have a Wi-Fi repeater, move it halfway between the camera and your router to improve signal strength.
    • Alternatively, try placing your router in a more central location in your home. Newer mesh Wi-Fi routers may help extend your signal as well by placing more access points throughout your home.
    • Power cycle the camera by unplugging it, then plugging it back in

If these tips do not resolve your issue, you may need to factory reset your device. **** Resetting the device will require you to set it up in the app again. Any settings, scenes, or schedules for the device will be deleted.
