INSTALLATION & OPERATION

  1. Unpack the Connect+ Hub with your new security system (see figure A above). We have already set up a new security account on your behalf. You will not need to modify the Hub communications or the sensors provided in the box, each sensor is already enrolled and will communicate with and through your Connect+ Hub after you provide power and Internet connections.

  2. Find a location for the panel, keeping in mind it needs AC power and a local network connection. The long-range, encrypted wireless receiver in Connect+ provides coverage for all sensors and devices when placed in a central location on-site.
To maximize transmission range of Connect+
    M iddle of building
    A bove ground level
P rovide 6-foot clearance to the Wi-Fi router, appliances and ducts (Figure B)

  3. Mount the panel by sliding it downward into the table-top base.

  4. Power up the panel by inserting the power supply barrel into the power jack on the side of Connect+. Route the power cable under the strain relief peg (Figure C). In the U.S.A., use the outlet cover plate screw to fasten the power supply to the wall outlet. Ensure the 110V wall outlet is unswitched, with constant power.

  5. Connect the panel to the Internet by wiring its Ethernet port to the home router. Alternately, if you ordered your Connect+ with a Wi-Fi expansion card, we have already installed it – using the Wi-Fi approach requires enrollment into the home Wi-Fi router. Hold the Enroll/WPS button on Connect+ until it beeps twice and then press the WPS button on your Wi-Fi router.

  6. Confirm the top 5 LED’s on Connect+ are green before placing your sensors (Figure D).

  7. Install the sensors in the desired locations around the premise. Figure E shows common uses. All intrusion sensors are already setup to communicate with your system. PRO TIP: Choose a central location for the Connect+ Hub to maximize sensor range.

  8. Install the door window sensors by removing the protective backing from the 3M VHB® tape, pressing the sensor halves in place lightly. Ensure the space between the sensor and the magnet is less than 3/4”. When satisfied with the door window sensor placement, press and hold each section in position for 20 seconds. See Figure F.

  9. Install the motion sensors on the desired wall locations using the included 3M VHB tape. If installed in a corner, apply VHB to the 45° bevels on the back of the housing. For a flat wall mount, apply VHB to the back of the housing. VHB is permanent on painted wallboard, clean and dry the area before application. Place motion sensor between 7.5’ and 9.5’ from the floor. This is the correct height range to avoid false alarms created by pet movement. Press and hold sensor in place for 20 seconds. Refer to the installation guide provided with your sensor to complete your installation. Note the sensor is already enrolled to your Connect+ Hub.

  10. Install the Glassbreak Sensors 3’ to 25’ from the window(s) being protected, maintain line-ofsight from glassbreak sensor to window(s). Remove protective backing and apply VHB tape to the back of the housing. Press and hold sensor in place for 20 seconds. VHB tape is permanent on painted wallboard, ensure the area is clean and dry before application. Alternately, #6 screws and wall anchors can be used for mounting.

  11. Place Flood Temp Sensors in a location requiring flood or temperature detection, such as a bathroom, utility room, sump pump or laundry area. If desired, the wall clip can be used to secure it to a wall or baseboard, ensure the sensor maintains contact with the floor surface for flood detection. This sensor detects water pooled directly beneath the sensor and reports extreme temperature conditions. High temperature alarms at 100°F, freeze point alarms at 45°F. Contact us if you prefer to customize Flood Temp Sensor default settings.

  12. Place a PINPad or Keypad near entryways or in a bedroom for convenient arming and disarming. If you’ve ordered either of these devices with your security system, they are already programmed and can be attached to a wall or placed on a tabletop or shelf. Refer to the installation guides provided with the products for detailed installation and operation information.

  13. The Slimline Touchpad and the Flat Mount Touchpad are the most advanced, wireless, on-site control interface available for your security system. They can be placed on a tabletop or mounted on the wall. A power supply is included with the product, plugging the power supply into a wall outlet powers the touchscreen. See the detailed instructions provided with your Touchpad on mounting and enrollment to your Connect+ Hub and local Wi-Fi network. Before permanently mounting your Touchpad to a wall, note the signal strength for communication needs to be at least 35. This number will show after the initial startup.
Pro Tip: If you ordered the touchpad with your security system, skip step one in the installation guide on installing the Wi-Fi DeviceLink Card in your Connect+ Hub.

  14. The Alula Mobile App is the perfect compliment to your Touchpad, allowing each user encrypted, interactive control of your security system, automation devices and video cameras from anywhere, at any time. Your hub and sensors are already programmed to the Alula Hub and will auto-populate in the App after login.

  15. Download the Alula Mobile App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to each user’s smartphone or tablet. Enter “Alula Security” in the app store’s search field. Open the app and enter the user name and password credentials recorded on page 1 of this quick start guide. Use the same username and password on all users’ smartphones.

  16. Adding users in the Alula App is completed from the primary account users smartphone. Tap the Gear Icon at the top left of your home screen, then tap “ Manage Users.” Tap the “ + ” icon at the top right to add new users. Save new users by tapping “ Create ” at top right. After adding new users, grant access to the Connect+ Hub or security camera by tapping each device’s slider icon to ON.

  17. Arming Modes are controlled in the Alula App with the three icons pinned to the top of the home screen. STAY is used when people are present, the system is armed and motion sensors are bypassed for you to move freely around the building without setting off the intrusion alarm. AWAY is an armed state when no people are present on-site. All intrusion sensors are active when armed AWAY and will trigger an alarm event if any intrusion zone is triggered. NIGHT is an armed state for the evening hours, it is a more secure version of armed STAY , giving you the option to keep motion sensors active, this would trigger an alarm if motion is sensed at night. From any armed state, tap the DISARM icon to deactivate your security system.

  18. The Alula App home screen can be customized on each smartphone, adding security zones, cameras and automation devices to each user’s favorites. Tap the HOME icon (1), then tap the EDIT GROUP icon (2) at the top right. Check the boxes to include your favorite cameras, zones, automation devices and scenes for your Alula App home screen. Finally, tap the HOME icon (1) to scroll through your favorites.

  19. Customize sensor names and notifications in the Alula App to select which zones and devices will push an activity notification to your smartphone. Tap on any ZONE (1), then choose which OPTIONS (2) you prefer. Tap ZONE NAME (3) to rename.

  20. Test your Door Window Sensors by opening and closing the protected windows and doors with your security system disarmed. Have your Alula App open and in hand to watch the sensor status change on screen, verifying the door window sensors are working correctly.
