NOVY 70006 Pendant Light
This product contains an ambient light source of energy efficiency class G
This product contains a functional light source of energy efficiency class F
The light source (LED only) and driver can only be replaced by a recognized installer.
Provide an on-off switch at the mains power supply.
Gesture Control (GC)
The Gesture control (GC) is operated by a sensor. The sensor is located in the center of the light object and is indicated by an icon. The sensor has a range of 15cm under the Novy Pendant (see the grey-shaded area in the image below).
All movements lower than 15cm are not responded to by the sensor.
Switching the lighting on and off
The lighting can be activated in 2 ways
- By moving your hand from left to right or right to left underneath the sensor.
- Holding your hand underneath the sensor for more than 1 second.
Changing the light balance from top to bottom
Balance more towards the top
- Holding your hand closer to the sensor will move the light toward the top of the Novy Pendant.
Balance more towards the bottom
- By holding your hand further from the sensor (but no further than 15cm!), the light will move toward the bottom of the Novy Pendant.
Changing the color at the top
By holding your hand close to the sensor for 2 seconds, the light on the top
side of the Novy Pendant will change to a preset color.
Setting the color
If you want to change the color of the mood setting, first go to mood mode in the preset color (see the previous step). Next, hold your hand under the sensor for another 4 seconds until the colored light pulses. You are now in the color setting mode.
By moving your hand under the sensor, you “scroll” through the available colors. You can scroll forward and backward by moving the hand either from left to right or right to left underneath the sensor.
When you have reached the desired color, remove your hand. After 4 seconds, the pulsing will stop and the chosen color will be set as the default color. The chosen color will be saved.

To be able to deal with the fault promptly and efficiently it is necessary that the Novy Customer Care Service knows which type of appliance you have.
Installation
Before starting the installation, make sure that the voltage on the wiring to be used is switched off! Determine the preferred position of the Novy Pendant
- • Measure the distance between the 2 suspension points and mark the holes to be drilled on the ceiling.
• Drill the marked holes.
Fixating to ceiling
- As shown above, pass the steel wire through the suspension bracket and mount the bracket. On the other side, attach the mounting sleeve to the ceiling. This consists of two components.
- Pass the 2nd steel wire through the bushing provided and screw it onto the bracket you just attached.
Preparing to mount the ceiling cap
Lead the power cord through the ceiling cap. On the other side, push the steel
wire through the center hole.
Hanging the Novy Pendant
Now hang the Novy Pendant by pushing both steel wires through the adjustment
bushings. When doing so, make sure the cable does not damage the fitting!
Mount the Novy Pendant at the desired height and remove the excess steel wire.
Connecting wiring to ceiling socket
- Always use the supplied insulated terminal block and make sure it is connected correctly! When using this terminal block, connecting the ground wire is not necessary (class 2 product).
- Remove the wiring from the central box through the black grommet of the terminal block as shown in the drawing.
Cutting the power cord to length
The Novy Pendant has a standard supplied power cord of around 4,5 meters. In
most situations, this will be too long. When the Novy Pendant is hanging at
the right height, measure the required length and cut the power cord.
NOTICE!
The Novy Pendant is switched on and off by hand signals. If desired, the Novy
Pendant can also be connected to a light switch. If a switch is used, the
lighting will not respond to hand signals when it is not powered.
Connecting the Novy Pendant wiring to the central box
- Fit the power cord in the 2nd part of the crown block. Also, connect the wiring from the center box as shown in the drawing.
- Then click the 2 parts together and make sure you hear a click.
Mounting the ceiling cap
- Slide the ceiling cap over the steel wire up to the ceiling. Conceal the wiring and fix the ceiling cap (1.).
- If desired, the power cord can be neatly mounted against the cable with the supplied cable clips (2.).
Turn the power on
CAUTION
When switched on, the sensor will automatically calibrate itself Make sure
there are no objects less than 15cm below the Novy Pendant. This may interfere
with the calibration.
External factors affecting the operation
The Novy products operate with infrared sensors. If there is an extraordinary
amount of infrared light, in the immediate vicinity of the fixture, this may
adversely affect operation:
- Bright sunlight reflects off shiny objects.
- Direct radiation from halogen spotlights or incandescent lamps at the underside of the fixture.
- The proximity sensor of mobile phones.
In case of excessive amounts of steam, the light fitting will possibly recognize this as a hand signal!
Cleaning
The fixture can be cleaned using simple soapy water. Do not use excess water.
For removing stubborn stains, we recommend using a mild degreaser. Preferably
use a microfibre cloth.
CAUTION
Cleaning the black sensor film should be kept to a minimum to avoid scratch
formation. Scratches on the foil can negatively affect the operation of the
sensors. Clean film with a microfibre cloth at all times. NOVY NV reserves the
