DYNABOOK USER’S MANUAL AND LIMITED WARRANTY

Conventions
This manual uses the following formats to describe, identify, and highlight terms and operating procedures.
Abbreviations
On the first appearance, and whenever necessary for clarity, abbreviations are enclosed in parentheses following their definition. For example: Read Only Memory (ROM).
Icons
Icons identify ports, dials, and other parts of your USB Type-C™ Adapters.
The indicator panel also uses icons to identify components.
Safety icons
This guide contains safety instructions that must be observed to avoid potential hazards that could result in personal injuries, damage to your equipment, or loss of data. These safety cautions have been classified according to the seriousness of the risk, and icons highlight these instructions as follows:

Safety Instructions

Always read the safety instructions carefully:

WARNING
Do not disassemble, modify, tamper with or repair your product

Do not attempt to disassemble, modify, tamper with or repair your product. Disassembly, modification, tampering or repairing the product could cause fire or electric shock, possibly resulting in serious injury. Please contact an authorized Dynabook service provider for any repair service.

Handling the cables/cords

When handling the cable/cord, follow these precautions:
• Never tamper with the cable/cord.
• Never splice or alter a cable/cord.
• Never bend or twist a cable/cord.
• Never pull on the cable to unplug.
• Never place heavy objects on a cable/cord.
• Never run a cable/cord through a pinch point such as a door or window.
• Never place a cable/cord near a heat source.
• Never use nails, staples, or similar objects to fasten or attach the cord in place.

Doing any of the above may damage the cables, and/or result in a fire or electric shock, possibly resulting in serious injury.

Do not handle the product with wet hands

Never attempt to connect or disconnect a product with wet hands. Failure to follow this instruction could result in an electric shock, possibly resulting in serious injury.

Choking hazards

Never leave small parts such as covers, caps, and screws within the reach of infants or small children. Swallowing a small part may cause choking and suffocation resulting in death or serious injury. If a part is swallowed, immediately take appropriate emergency action and consult a doctor.

Avoid liquids, moisture, and foreign objects

Never allow any liquids to spill into any part of your product, and never expose the product to rain, water, seawater, or moisture. Exposure to liquid or moisture can cause electric shock or fire, resulting in damage or serious injury. If any of these eventualities should accidentally occur, immediately:
Disconnect the product from your computer.
Do not connect the product again, until you have taken the product to an authorized service center. Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or permanent damage to the product.

Never place your product on a heat sensitive surface

Never place your product on a wooden surface, furniture, or any other surface that could be marred by exposure to heat since the product may increase in temperature during normal use.
Always place your product on a flat and hard surface that is resistant to heat damage.

Never place your product in locations with excess heat

Never place your product where it will be exposed to excess heat, such as in direct sunlight, an unventilated vehicle, or near a heater. This may result in a system failure, malfunction, loss of data, or damage to the product. Never place your product in a location with extremely low temperatures
Never place your product in a location where it will be exposed to extremely low temperatures. This may result in a system failure, malfunction, or loss of data.

Never subject your product to sudden temperature variations

Never subject your product to sudden temperature variations. This may result in condensation, causing a system failure, malfunction, or loss of data.

Never operate your product during a thunderstorm

Never operate your product on AC power during a thunderstorm. If you see lightning or hear thunder, immediately disconnect the product. An electric surge caused by the storm may result in a system failure, loss of data, or hardware damage.

Regulatory Statements for EMEA regions

CE Compliance

This product is CE marked in accordance with the requirements of the applicable EU Directives. Responsible for CE marking is Dynabook Europe GmbH, Stresemannallee 4b, 41460 Neuss, Germany. A copy of the official Declaration of Conformity can be obtained from the following website: http://dynabook.eu /product-conformity.

Working Environment

This product was designed to fulfill the EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) requirements to be observed for so-called “Residential, commercial and light industry environments”. Dynabook does not approve the use of this product in working environments other than the above-mentioned “Residential, commercial and light industry environments”.
For example, the following environments are not approved:

Industrial Environments (e.g. environments where a mains voltage of 380 V three-phase is used)
Medical Environments
Automotive Environments
Aircraft Environments

Any consequences resulting from the use of this product in working environments that are not approved are not the responsibility of Dynabook.
The consequences of the use of this product in non-approved working environments may be:

Interference with other devices or machines in the near surrounding area.
Malfunction of, or data loss from, this product caused by disturbances generated by other devices or machines in the near surrounding area.

Therefore Dynabook strongly recommends that the electromagnetic compatibility of this product should be suitably tested in all non-approved working environments before use. In the case of automobiles or aircraft, the manufacturer or airline respectively should be asked for permission before the use of this product.
Furthermore, for general safety reasons, the use of this product in environments with explosive atmospheres is not permitted.

The crossed-out wheeled dust bin symbol indicates that products must be collected and disposed of separately from household waste.
The black bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after August 13, 2005.

USB Type-C™ Adapters

CAUTION

Always use the Dynabook USB Type-C™ adapter that is included with your computer or Dynabook accessories.
Do not connect an AC adaptor with a wattage of greater than 60W to the USB Type-C™ adapter.
Disconnect any devices and cables from the USB Type-C™ adapter when connecting/disconnecting an AC adaptor or the USB Type-C™ adapter.
When connecting the USB Type-C™ adapter, Thunderbolt™ is not supported.
If an AC adaptor is connected to the USB Type-C™ adapter, to charge the system, the battery charging time may be longer.
Do not connect a USB Type-C™ adapter to the USB Type-C™ port of the USB Type-C™ adapter.

USB-C™ to HDMI™ Adapter

NOTE

The output resolution of the HDMI™ output port on this adapter is up to 3840×2160 @60Hz.
The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

USB-C™ to HDMI™/USB Multiport Adapter

NOTE

The output resolution of the HDMI™ output port on this adapter is up to 3840×2160 @30Hz.
The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

USB-C™ to HDMI™/VGA Travel Adapter

NOTE

The output resolution of the HDMI™ output port on this adapter is up to 3840×2160 @30Hz, and the output resolution of the VGA monitor port on this adapter is up to 1920×1200 @60Hz.
Do not use the HDMI™ and VGA ports simultaneously.
The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

USB-C™ to Ethernet LAN Adapter

NOTE

The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

USB-C™ to VGA Adapter

NOTE

The output resolution of the VGA monitor port on this adapter is up to 1920×1200 @60Hz.
The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

USB-C™ to VGA/LAN Adapter

NOTE

The output resolution of the VGA monitor port on this adapter is up to 1920×1200 @60Hz.
The USB Type-C™ port (Power Delivery Charging) on this adapter is used for connecting an AC adaptor only. USB data transmission is not supported by this port.

Dynabook Limited Warranty for USB Type-C™ Adapters

REGISTRATION
Your registration will help Dynabook provide you with faster service and allows you to profit from updates on new products, special offers, and driver updates to get the most out of your Dynabook product.
Please register your limited warranty at: emea.dynabook.com/registration
By making a claim under this Limited Warranty, you will be deemed to have accepted its terms.

This Limited Warranty does not affect your statutory rights.

WARRANTY
Dynabook warrants any Dynabook USB Type-C™ Adapter first sold to an end-user (Original Purchase) to be free from defects in hardware components and/or workmanship during the warranty period.
The warranty period is twelve (12) months and commences on the original date of purchase. Your dated sales or delivery receipt, showing the date of purchase of the product, is your proof of purchase date. You may be required to provide proof of purchase as a condition of receiving warranty service.
Claims under this Limited Warranty must be made within the twelve (12) months warranty period. A USB Type-C™ Adapter that is, at Dynabook’s option, repaired or replaced under this Limited Warranty shall be covered only for the remainder of the original warranty period or for three (3) months, whichever is longer.

WARRANTY COVERAGE
This Limited Warranty is only applicable in countries listed at the end of this Dynabook Limited Warranty (Territory) and not applicable to any Original Purchase outside this Territory. Dynabook will, at its option, repair or replace any defective USB Type-C™ Adapters or parts thereof covered by this warranty with new or factory refurbished parts or USB Type-C™ Adapters that are equal to new products in performance. This Limited Warranty covers the costs of service, parts, and labor required to restore your USB Type-C™ Adapter to full working order. All exchanged parts and USB Type-C™ Adapters replaced under this warranty will become the property of Dynabook.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
This Limited Warranty does not apply to

defects caused by normal wear and tear including the fair wear of consumable parts, i.e. parts that require periodic replacement during the normal course of the USB Type-C™ Adapters usage;
breaks, tears, scratches, dents, scratched or faded covers or plastics and broken ports, or any other cosmetic damage;
damage caused by use with another product;
use of the USB Type-C™ Adapter other than for its normal intended use, including, without limitation, failure to use the USB Type-C™ Adapter in accordance with the user’s manual that accompanies the USB Type-C™ Adapter;
damage caused by accident, abuse, contamination, misuse, viruses, liquid contact, fire, earthquake, improper or inadequate maintenance or calibration, negligence to the USB Type-C™ Adapter, or other external causes;
environmental damages and/or defects resulting from smoke, dust, dirt, carbon black, or other external influences;
a Dynabook USB Type-C™ Adapter that has been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Dynabook;
cases in which the serial number has been removed, damaged, rendered defective, or made illegible;
modification of the USB Type-C™ Adapter including defects caused by the use of parts not manufactured and/or sold by Dynabook;
improper installation of third-party products (e. g. software drivers, cables, etc.);
damages resulting from improper transportation or packing when returning the USB Type-C™ Adapter to Dynabook or a Dynabook Authorised Service Provider;
damages caused by services/repairs or other modifications to the USB Type-C™ Adapter carried out by anyone other than Dynabook or a Dynabook Authorised Service Provider;
damages caused by self-repair;
defective hardware components that result from the misuse of the USB Type-C™ Adapter;

If the USB Type-C™ Adapter is not entitled to this Limited Warranty due to one or more of the reasons mentioned above, Dynabook or its Authorized Service Providers can still offer a repair, if requested by the end-user. Please note that in this case Dynabook or the Dynabook Authorized Service Provider may charge the end-user for parts, labor, and expenses. Furthermore, Dynabook or its Authorized Service Providers reserve the right to charge the end-user for the preparation of the cost estimate if the end-user culpable raised a claim under this Limited Warranty which in fact is not covered by it. In such case and to the extent permitted by applicable law, Dynabook or its Authorised Service Providers reserve the right to retain the USB Type-C™ Adapter until the end-user pays the costs of preparing the cost estimate.

OBTAINING WARRANTY SERVICE
Your Dynabook Limited Warranty includes a Carry-in or Send-in warranty service. In some areas of some countries, a Pickup & Return warranty service might also be provided. To find out about the local coverage, please contact Dynabook or your Authorised Service Provider. The warranty service shall be subject to the following terms and conditions:

Before contacting Dynabook, please:
Check if your USB Type-C™ Adapter is connected correctly;
Consult the User’s Manual for important tips on how to operate and troubleshoot your USB Type-C™ Adapter;
Note down the USB Type-C™ Adapter name, model number, serial number, and a description of the problem (e.g. error messages that appear on the screen).
To obtain support, please check the ASP locator and contact your nearest Dynabook Support Centre or Authorised Service Provider: emea.dynabook.com /asp-locator
Call the Dynabook Support Centre in the country where you are located in. Dynabook will attempt to resolve warranty issues over the telephone and may require your assistance in performing routine diagnostic procedures in connection with this call. Should the Dynabook Support Centre isolate hardware malfunctions on your USB Type-C™ Adapter, you will be provided with an identification number and service instruction by the most convenient means (e.g. email, voice).

Under the terms of Carry-in or Send-in warranty service, you will be required to deliver your Dynabook USB Type-C™ Adapter to a Dynabook Authorised Service Provider for warranty repair or replacement (at Dynabook’s option) and arrange for its collection on completion of repair or replacement. You must pay any shipping charges, taxes, or duties associated with transportation of the USB Type-C™ Adapter to and from the Dynabook Authorised Service Provider. In addition, you are responsible for ensuring the USB Type-C™ Adapter both for delivery and collection as neither Dynabook nor the company offering warranty service on Dynabook’s behalf, have any liability for damage or loss in transit.
In some areas of some countries, a Pick-up & Return Warranty Service is provided by Dynabook.
Dynabook will arrange pick-up of the defective unit from your location and, at its option, repair or replace any defective USB Type-C™ Adapters or parts thereof covered by this warranty with new or factory refurbished parts or USB Type-C™ Adapters that are equal to new products in performance, and return it back to your location. Dynabook will incur all repair or replacement (at its option), logistics and insurance costs in this process save that Dynabook reserves the right to charge the end-user for such costs if the end-user culpable raised a claim under this Limited Warranty which in fact is not covered by it. In such case and to the extent permitted by applicable law, Dynabook or its Authorised Service Providers reserve the right to retain the USB Type-C™ Adapter until the end-user pays the costs of preparing the cost estimate.

ADDITIONAL COSTS
Dynabook is not liable for any transport, delivery, or insurance costs, import duties, taxes, licensing fees, and any charges from telephone communications as a consequence of the failure of the USB Type-C™ Adapter. However, should your Standard Warranty be covered by Pick-up & Return Service Type, the costs for repair or replacement (at Dynabook’s option), logistics and insurance will be covered by Dynabook save that Dynabook reserves the right to charge the end-user for such costs if the end-user culpable raised a claim under this Limited Warranty which in fact is not covered by it? In such case and to the extent permitted by applicable law, Dynabook or its Authorised Service Providers reserve the right to retain the USB Type-C™ Adapter until the end- user pays the costs of preparing the cost estimate.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the extent allowed by applicable law, Dynabook shall not be liable for merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of the USB Type-C™ Adapter. To the extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Dynabook or its Authorised Service Provider be liable for any damage to the USB Type-C™ Adapter or parts thereof and/or the enclosed written materials. Neither shall Dynabook or its Authorised Service Provider be liable for any damages whatsoever (including direct or indirect damages, loss of business profits, lost savings, or other special, incidental, exemplary, or consequential damages) arising out of or resulting from the use of or inability to use the USB Type-C™ Adapters or parts thereof and/or the enclosed written materials. This applies even if Dynabook, its supplier, an authorized Dynabook representative, service provider, or dealer has been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any liability of Dynabook or its supplier which is not excluded shall be limited to the purchase price of the USB Type-C™ Adapter.
The above exclusions and limitations of liability shall not apply for damages resulting from demonstrated Dynabook’s product liability, especially for damages such as injuries to life, body, or health.

COUNTRY COVERAGE
This EMEA Limited Warranty applies to USB Type-C™ Adapters purchased in the following countries:
Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guinea, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom 03/2021
