Set Up Your Starlink First
Before you begin setting up your Starlink Mesh WiFi Router, make sure your
original Starlink is fully set up and connected per the instructions in the
box or on support.starlink.com.
Find a Location for Mesh Nodes
To provide reliable WiFi coverage to every corner of your home, the connection between each Starlink Mesh Wifi Router, or mesh node, needs to be strong. Make sure your primary Starlink router (from your Starlink Kit) and mesh nodes are evenly spread out, but not too far from each other. Mesh nodes work best when they’re no more than one to two rooms apart from each other.
For example , if a room in your house that is 3+ rooms away has a weak
connection and you place it in that room, the mesh node will not be able to
connect well to the primary router. Instead, place it in a closer location
(about halfway) to the primary router. The bigger your house, the more mesh
nodes you will need to cover the whole area. Place your router upright and in
an open area and avoid placing it near other objects that will physically
block your signal. Try to place them in an elevated position like on a shelf
rather than ground level.
INSTALLATION
Set up a Mesh Node
- Plug in your Starlink mesh node to a power outlet.
- Open the Starlink App. Wait 1-2 minutes for a “PAIR NEW MESH NODE” notification to appear in the app.
- Click “PAIR”. This node will show up as “CONNECTING” on the “Network” screen. Connection will take about 1-2 minutes.
- Upon connection, the node will appear on the “Network” screen in the app with signal strength.
- Repeat with additional nodes.
Troubleshooting
If you don’t see the “PAIR NEW MESH NODE” notification in your Starlink App within ~2 minutes of plugging in the new node:
- You may be too far away from your primary Starlink router.
- Try finding a closer location to your primary router to complete the pairing process.
- You may have connected directly to the mesh node’s “STARLINK” network instead of staying connected to your primary Starlink router’s network.
- Try a factory reset to start the process over. Power cycle your mesh node at least 3 times, on roughly a 2-3 second interval (about as fast as you can probably manage to plug and unplug it), then let it boot.
- Do not connect directly to your mesh node’s new “STARLINK” network after plugging it in. Stay connected to your original Starlink network and open the app.
- It may help to rename your original Starlink network something unique to verify that you stay connected to your original network throughout the process.
- You may have a non-standard Starlink setup.
- Starlink mesh nodes are only compatible with the rectangular Starlink model and corresponding WiFi router.
- The circular Starlink model and corresponding WiFi router are not compatible with Starlink mesh nodes.
- You cannot add a Starlink mesh router into an existing 3rd party mesh system.

How many mesh nodes can I use with my Starlink Mesh Wifi Router?
You can connect up to three mesh nodes to your Starlink Mesh Wifi Router.
How far away should my mesh node be from my primary router?
The best placement for a mesh node is within 2 rooms of your primary router. For example, if you place a mesh node in a room that is 3+ rooms away from your primary router, it will not be able to connect well to the primary router. Can I use an Ethernet cable to connect my mesh node directly to my computer?
Yes, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect your mesh node directly to your computer or other device. However, we recommend that you set up your mesh node wirelessly so that you can take advantage of its full range and performance.
How many devices can you connect to Starlink router?
128 devices
Starlink has no limit on the number of devices you use, so the only limit is
what your hardware can support. The Starlink app says that the Starlink router
can support up to 128 devices. Not that you’re going to want to connect 128
devices though.
Is Starlink router waterproof?
In contrast, the modem on the first-gen Starlink dish is designed to function indoors between 32°F to +86°F. (Both the first-and second-gen Starlink dishes are waterproof and can withstand outdoor conditions between -22°F to +122°F.)

What is the difference between a mesh router and a regular router?
A regular Wi-Fi router creates a single access point that broadcasts Wi-Fi signals to a limited area whereas mesh networks link two or more access points which are also called nodes together.
Will mesh WiFi speed up internet?
It won’t make your internet connection suddenly faster, but the increased Wi- Fi coverage throughout your home ensures a strong and stable connection, no matter where you are.
What do mesh routers plug into?
A mesh network uses multiple points in different rooms to fill gaps in a WiFi signal. It will use one main internet point plugged into a router through an Ethernet cable, and then each additional device is placed away from the primary point. These points will then communicate with the main WiFi in your router.
Do you need a separate router with a mesh system?
